@@kparadisek I have gotten rid of all my big cloths, I have some jeans that are size 14 that are baggier than I would like? I am not a baggy jeans girl anymore, I used to be, I hated anything that showed all the rolls and stuff I had, but now I like the skinny jeans. I hate bell bottoms, I am not big fan of anything that is real baggy though. I think that the stuff that I am having issues with is more the tops than the bottoms, I have always been more of a tom boy, and I always just like t-shirts and tank tops and stuff like that, but now I am finding that I want cute stuff, and stuff that looks a little more professional? I do still like my t-shirts and stuff like that, but not as much as I used to? I need to start shopping more for the tops than the bottoms? I don't know if I want my daughter to go shopping with me to help me pick out cloths as she is only 13 and she is VERY girly, and she and I don't have the same taste in cloths? Although my husband he is good too he loves picking me out cloths now? He is too funny.

kparadisek reacted to DLCoggin in Three Years Post-op Today
Since having my surgery on October 20, 2011, I have set a "main" goal every year. Year one was obvious, get to the weight that my body wanted to be at. Approximately fourteen months post-op I hit 155 lbs, my weight loss leveled out, I felt great about my weight, about myself, and about what I had accomplished.
Year two. I had read so many times about "bounce back weight gain". Usually ten or fifteen pounds but sometimes much more. I researched everything I could find and there appeared to be no physical or metabolic justification for the weight gain. It was/is quite common, but I could find no science to explain it. So my year two goal became to avoid the bounce back. I established a window of 151 to 156 lbs that I was determined to maintain. I changed my weigh-ins schedule from my year one weekly weight checks to year two daily checks. My weight in year two was seldom below 151 (maybe two or three times) and never above 156.
Year three. As you get further out veterans who have "been there done that" often drop off of the forums. It became more difficult to identify potential "bumps in the road" that were common in the third year post-op period. Then over a period of time I read a number of posts by a five year veteran who repeatedly stressed that maintaining your weight becomes more difficult, m u c h more difficult, after the two year mark. And responses to this member's posts seemed to confirm that many had experienced the same difficulties. Once again I looked to science for an explanation and possible suggestions for avoiding or at least minimizing the challenges. And once again I was unable to identify any credible science to explain the problem. So my year three goal became more of a mental challenge than a physical one. I had lost 130 lbs. And I had maintained it for a year. The goal for year three became to maintain my commitment, and my focus, on following my plan that had resulted in the success I had achieved.
Stay positive. Stay patient. Monitor my weight daily and respond very quickly to weight changes. Making slight increases or decreases in my calorie goal depending on whether I needed to gain or lose two or three pounds. Exercise to my ability. Continue to maintain a food log. The result? I frankly never experienced any identifiable change in my diet, in the effort required to maintain my weight, or in my confidence that I was in complete and absolute control of my weight. No changes. None. Zip. And my weight this morning? 154.2
I only have one problem - I'm at a total loss for a year four goal! Everyone's thoughts, suggestions, ideas or experiences are most welcome!!
You guys have a terrific day and regardless of where you're at in your journey always remember - follow your plan and you're gonna love the new you!

Thank you for the update! I have been thinking about you. I am glad that you have found a way to get back in control. Remember these first couple weeks are going to be the worst - prepare yourself to keep your determination up.
I am just a year out, but I have reached my goal weight and am trying to maintain - something I have NEVER done in my life. I have lost 205 pounds. I still have a very difficult relationship with food, and constantly am pulled to want to make bad choices. So far I have been able to fight that off. I am very afraid of gaining the weight back because I seem to be able to eat much more than I should and I have yet to dump on any food that I have tried. I even had a scoop of real strawberry ice cream with no problems - I have only done this one time, on vacation!
I attribute my success to MyFitnessPal.com. I continue to use it everyday. It keeps me accountable and lets me know at a glance where I am at. Even on days that I give into my head hunger or a craving I record it.
Keep up the awesome job!! You have what you need to do this and we are here to support you!!

Just wanted to thank everyone for all of your encouragement. I am going to try the 5 day pouch test and see what happens....today will be day 1. This whole weight loss process has been such a journey. If I was able to loss the weight in the beginning, I will be able to do it again. I plan on taking it one moment at a time. I will keep everyone updated as I know I will need more help.
Truly wish I found this app sooner, but guess its better late then never.
    Thanks again!!

This weight loss process is lifelong. It's easy to give up when we feel the loss of control. Just remember that you still have your tool in place but we need to use it as intended. In the early days it was easier to be compliant because we would have nasty consequences if we didn't. That seems to diminish with time so it's harder keep those stringent guidelines. I struggle with making smart choices all day long. It's not one-day-at-a-time, it's one minute-at-a-time. For me, food will always be an addiction and I need to force myself to remember that I am the one responsible for what food I buy, what I make for my family and let's face it: it';s cheaper, easier, and more convienent to make junk vs. healthier foods. Support is important that's why I'm on this site. I'm gonna try today to go back to the basics: 89-90 gr. of Protein shakes, 64 oz. Water, and at least 20 minutes exercise. I will try to focus and make this my goal for today. I'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Best wishes and don't give up. You're too important. You can regain control. Start in this moment. You're not alone!!

The scale this morning had a new middle number, but since this is the NSV thread...
Was putting on jeans for a date Saturday night... The pair I pulled on looked saggy in the butt and they were the only pair I've been wearing lately that fit at all any more. I saw a pair laying folded on the closet floor (yeah, my closet is like that), grabbed them, pulled them on and they fit (without cutting me in half even). Two months ago I was in a 16. I looked at the pair I had tried on and they were a 14. Went in the bathroom (where there was light) and checked the tag and the pair I had on were a 12!!!!
I'm in a FREAKIN' SIZE 12 JEAN!!! So, I promptly went to the mall, into Express and tried on this really cute lacy top that maxed out in a size large (no XL's in that store) and the size LARGE fit!!!
Tell me I wasn't feeling like a rock star on that date (only the second with this guy).

Had an NSV I didn't expect. I packed for vacation tonight and my clothes didn't take up the whole suitcase. They actually didn't even take up half the suitcase. I guess that means I can just bring more clothes with me right?

I often wondered what the scale would read when I hit onederland! 199.8/198 I wasn't sure. Well this morning I found out 193.8! I had to go get my phone to take a picture while I fought back the tears. I haven't been in onederland in about 17 years or more! I couldn't believe that I was tearing up! It felt magical!!!!! It was so unexpected everybody kept saying that I was steadily losing weight and I kept saying no because last time I checked the scale it said 202-204. I'm so excited I want to shout it out!

I'm band to bypass too. I should be having my surgery in May or June. I can't wait to have the band removed. I had my surgery in 2007 only lost 35 pounds but managed to gain back 70. I'm the heaviest I've ever been and can't wait to get to a healthy weight. I'm wondering if when the band is removed and I have the rny will it feel the same meaning will I feel like I'm suffocating? Will my new stomach feel uncomfortable like my port does? Will I be able to lay on my side without pain? Most important will I finally feel restriction after eating a half of cup of food? My Mom had rny in 1992 and has done a great job keeping her weight off. She doesn't eat a lot and will often forget a meal. When she wants to lose more weight she simply exercises and the pounds seem to melt away! She's never sick. And often says she would do it all over again. Please share any advice with us that are soon to be banded that may help us through this. Best luck to you all!????????

    Hello Everyone,
I am 9 1/2 months out from band to bypass. I thought I would try to answer a few of your questions based on my Mom's experience. She had surgery in 1992 and is very healthy. She was in her early 40s when she had the surgery. She was never one to really take her Vitamins until I started taking mine. She does however do a monthly B12 shot which works fine for her. She is rarely sick and if so it's an occasional once every few years. She does still have high blood pressure but I think it's from all the pork she eats not to mention it's way better than what it was. She has managed to only gain about 35 pounds total since her lowest weight. When she decides she wants to take those extra pounds off she just commits to walking and the weight melts away. She still eats very small portion but can tolerate a drink at the same time. She enjoys a diet Pepsi a few times a week. She often about not having any regrets and is glad that I decided to have the operation. She was one of the ones that had to have the open surgery because they weren't doing the lap ones then. Her Doctor often ask her to be a spokesperson for his practice but she doesn't like the way she looks in her before photos. She's very energetic, loves to dance and still has a lot of fun shopping! She still parties and has drinks on the weekend with her friends and family with no problems.
I hope this answers some of your questions as I couldn't remember them all but I thought that everyone basically wanted to know about the long terms effects. She inspired me so I hope that her story can help at least one of you. She's very supportive of my surgery and is one of my main cheerleaders especially since I haven't told anyone else outside of my children, husband and two close girlfriends oh and my dad. I'm one of the ones that prefers to do this in private and share once I've satisfied my own goals.
If any of you come up with some other questions you can post them and I will try to respond to them even if it means asking my Mom questions which isn't a problem because we talk about the surgery often. Good Luck!
