Am I the fattest one here?

Yay! You guys are so awesome!! I'm seriously going to look into allll of these suggestions! Just after day ONE I was so discouraged I really began questioning if I could really do it! But I realize that its not the hunger, its the taste!! I mean, the hunger is part of it, but if I can't get down the whole thing Im obviously gonna feel hungry. I really can't wait to get to the point where this is routine. I know it'll always be in the back of my mind, but right now its front and center most of my waking moments...It just feels sick to me and depressing to have my every thought revolve around this addiction. I made a joke to a friend yesterday and it's so true: "I think this is what a crack addict feels like when they detox!!"
  2. I have the vanilla flavor and can't tolerate it without some jazzing up! I get the no sugar added, frozen mixed fruit from walmart and add maybe 1/2 cup fruit and blend in ice, water, no calorie sweetener and 2 small scoop powder...i don't use a lot of the powder cause 1. Its way too gritty if i do, and 2. Its expensive and wanna stretch it out. Also, try adding it to other drinks. Orange cream is hard, but coffee and drinks like that are good mixers.

Am I the fattest one here?

I find myself here wishing this thread wasn't so old. Could use the encouragement, haha. So, here's the scoop: I have a BMI of 82 and at 24yrs old I weigh 511lbs. My doctor at NWWLS in Everett, WA (Dr. Michaelson) has put me on the typical pre-surgery diet, only its 60 days instead of the typical 7-14 days. Im to do 3-4 awful protein drinks a day and one solid Lean Cuisine type meal a day. My final prep appointment is May 10th and can pretty much do surgery anytime once I've lost 60 pounds...So technically I may not have to hold out the entire 60 days. Have any of you had to do this pre-op? Even if it wasn't as long, how much was lost in your time spent doing it? I realize its very individual, but from your experience could someone my size be able to lose 60 pounds in less than 60 days?? :/
  4. I was just wondering if anyone else had a lengthy pre-surgery diet they had to follow. Because my pre-surgery weight is so high, 510, Dr.Michaelson is asking me to lose 60 pounds prior to surgery. To achieve this Im on a very strict diet for 60 days. 3-4 bariatric protein shakes and one small lean cuisine meal a day. I'm to consume no more than 870 calories in one day. Today is day one and Im really struggling with the hunger pangs. Anyone have a similar regimen? Anyone have any good resources for encouragement or even a good hunger distraction? I work as a caregiver for disabled clients and am constantly surrounded by food or making it. Its awful! Ahhh! Any help or suggestions are helpful!
  5. I can time the Lean Cuisine meal whenever I want, but can't really forcing myself to go to bed hungry...Blah! Im gonna try different times and see if it helps...Or even break the meal up just to eat something solid. And I'll also look into the pills and check with my surgeon to ok them for now. Anything that can help me get through the first leg of this journey! And the Costco shakes are the other ones my nutritionist recommended. I've got the powder stuff right now that they sell but I see it getting old quick. Also, from your experience do you all have any idea how much Ill lose if I follow this very strict and exercise? If I can drop 60lbs sooner Ill be able to get it sooner. Possibly within a week after my May 10 appointment...

    Anyone Have Aetna?

I've been kind of nervous about it all too! My husband works for Home Depot and I have Aetna POS II. They require the same 90 pre-surgery requirements that was mentioned in an earlier post...I've got my 4th and final "inter-disciplinary" appointment (The insurance calls it this, but its really a glorified nutritionist thats' Band specific.) on May 10th, then I'll be sent for approval by my insurance before getting a surgery date set. I've been reassured that Aetna is one of the best and they've worked with them extremely well in the past. Surgery should be end of May or early June.
