  1. I totally understand this. My mom is in a nursing home and her roommates daughter takes every opportunity to make me feel bad. Before my surgery she told me that her neighbor had this surgery and for me not to worry if I looked bad for about a year afterward because her neighbor did. And now every time I see her, she never fails to tell me how tired, pale, depressed I look - every.single.time. I just laugh it off but deep down it really bugs me. Hang in there, hopefully whatever is eating at your friend will disappear soon.......
  2. Yay for you, Shelley!!! This is the best thing you can do for yourself and it's not selfish! All the things you want are what others have as part of their everyday life, you deserve this!! Today will fly by and tomorrow will be here before you know it! Have a great day!!! Keep us posted!!!
  3. Today your whole life will change for the better!! Sending prayers your way, update when you can, and if you don't feel good when you wake up, I PROMISE it will pass FAST!! Welcome to the loser's bench!!
  4. Jimmy, when I click on your picture it says you are online and last active 5 minutes ago. If someone is on as you, could you please update us and let us know if Jimmy is ok?
  5. Jimmy, are you doing ok? I've been checking here and I know you haven't been able to post. Please update us when you can, we are worried about you! Hope you are resting and everything is ok.
  6. Please keep us posted, I'll be checking this thread until you let us know. I'm so glad you went to be checked! Hang in there, they will fix you up before you know it!!
  7. This happened to me at 3 weeks out and it was lactose intolerance. The doctor said it would probably pass in a few months but I was shocked - I had never had lactose issues before. I switched to Silk Almond Milk and feel fine! Hope this help!!
  8. I hope this happens to me!! I have the EXACT same problem, from the scalp, and people look at me like I'm about to have a heart attack and ask me if I'm ok. It's the most embarrassing thing ever and I hate it. Just the thought of this surgery helping the sweating issue gives me such hope! I'll let you know if this NSV shows up in my life! Thanks for sharing!!
  9. Just a thought, but at 3 weeks this happened to me and it turned out that I developed lactose intolerance. Every time I drank my protein drink mixed with milk, it made me so sick. I would break out in a sweat, become extremely nauseated and be sick for hours afterward. As soon as it occurred to me that it was the milk and I stopped drinking it, I didn't have any more problems. I hope this helps!! Keep us posted!!
  10. GOOD LUCK!!! It will be over before you know it!! Post when you can!!!
  11. Tomorrow will be 6 weeks since my surgery. Don't talk yourself out of it! You will be so glad after you go through with it. The surgery and recovery weren't near as bad as I expected them to be. The worst thing for me was the gas - it was severe after first waking up, but after walking and sleeping, it was gone! The first few days are an adjustment, and then it is a piece of cake. We will be with you every step of the way. This time tomorrow night, it will be over and the beginning of your journey will be here! You can do it!! Private message me if you have anxiety and I will talk you through it! I will be sending good thoughts your way, and I'm anxious for you to post and let us know how great you are doing!! Good Luck!!
  12. Also, are you on any blood pressure meds? If so, they may be too strong for you, can you take your blood pressure easily? I had to discontinue one of two blood pressure meds at 3 weeks post op because my blood pressure had dropped significantly. Keep us posted and good luck!!
  13. My doctor gave me the go ahead on driving at my one week post op appointment for short trips. He said there was no danger in driving, except maybe long distances, because the anesthesia would be in my system for a while and may cause sleepiness on a longer trip. I didn't have any trouble. Good luck!
  14. I really enjoy your posts, too! Congrats on such an outstanding loss so early in the game. You are doing awesome!!
  15. Oops, I quoted the wrong person, sorry! Zegerid was better than anything I had ever tried, I used to swear by it. However, since the surgery it doesn't work for me anymore. It is over the counter but I have at least a months worth that I would be happy to send to see if it helps before you spend any money on it. Send me a message with your address if you want to try it. It is still sealed and everything. Good luck!

  18. Sure! I weighed 265 day of surgery and at 4 weeks was down to 237!!! I'm very happy and I feel really good! Feel free to ask any questions or voice any concerns you may have. And let me know when you get your date - I really will sit with you so you won't be afraid!!!
  19. Yes!! Dr. Nease is my surgeon, too and I was sleeved 4 weeks ago today. Best thing I've ever done, no regrets whatsoever!! And it doesn't hurt that he is nice to look at with a great personality and awesome bedside manner!! He is also very thorough!! You are in good hands! I'm from Huntington and would be glad to come and sit with you if you'd like. I could be at the VA in 10 minutes from my house. Let me know!!
  20. Oh Dooter! I know!!! Zegerid was my hero and I can't believe it doesn't work now!! Very sad about that!! As far as eating, I'm still in the pureed stage and will start soft foods this week. I don't drink anything but flavored Water and my diet is very boring. My meds are synthroid, toprol, lipitor BUT I do have to take aspirin every day but I take it after one of my doses of carafate. I am gonna try protonix and cross my fingers!! Thanks for your responses!!!
  21. Thank you! I will call the dr right now!!!
  22. Yes, I take it on an empty stomach. Thanks for your 2 suggestions! I'll try anything at this point!!
  23. Hi there! I didn't have blood sugar issues, but as far as the drain goes, mine stayed in a week and had stuff in it til the last 2 days before it was removed. Hope this helps! Congratulations on your surgery!! It was not in vain, I promise!
  24. Hi Everyone~ I was sleeved 4 weeks ago tomorrow. Even with carafate 4 x daily, and 40 mg of zegerid daily, I still have heartburn between my carafate doses and it wakes me up in the middle of the night. Anyone else have this problem? If so, what medication worked the best? Thanks for any help!!!
