  1. Hello ladies I too am looking for buddies. I was sleeved on 7/18 I've lost a total of 40 lbs thus far. I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Highest weight 260 surgery day 255 current weight 220. Mother of 3
  2. I contemplated whether or not to address this comment, but just couldn't let it go. Honestly the group is called African American Sleevers but is not prohibited from any other race. It was created for those of us ( African Americans) to gain information pertaining to things that relate to us specifically. For example hair (texture, weaves, locs, shedding, coloring), skin discoloration (incision sites), etc. Although I'm only 29 I go on the groups for ages 35 and above just because I'm not 35 doesn't mean in can't participate in a discussion on a site/group created for older people. Don't be so sensitive, you're more than welcome to join in.
  3. well its official I received my approval phone call today and I am getting sleeved on the 18th. I am so excited! i feel like my life is getting ready to begin.

  9. I do have pictures but my advocate says Aetna is so strict about what they want.
  10. Well update I got the necessary information that wad requested. The only problem now is they want a weight history for 2011 other than my initial consult. Unfortunately I didn't see a doctor who took my weight so hopefully they will accept the initial consult weight for 2011 and look back at all my other past history of weight. Thinking positively!

  13. Hey add me my tentative date is July 11th. Waiting on approval from insurance.
  14. I haven't received an official approval yet, but my tentative date is July 11th. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
  15. I had an option to either do the 6 months or 3 months supervised by a physician. I opted for the 3 months although it's still been almost g months just to get to this point due to other complications such as having to have a sleep study finding out I have sleep apnea then having to gave a 2nd sleep study to be fitted fur a cpap machine both of which took almost 2 months to complete, but now that's it's over I'm just WAITING!
  16. my paperwork was sent in today to my insurance company (aetna) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a quick approval. my tentative surgery date in july 11th,
  17. I just got off the phone with my advocate and my date is July 11th contingent everything is cleared...it just seems more tangible have a "date."
  18. Glad to hear that you are doing fine. Praying for a speedy recovery.
  19. i just recieved my bill for my first night (sleep study). The office billed my insurance company 3500. The insurance copany paid all but $30.00. By the way I have Aetna. So I agree with everyone else that what you recived was just the insurance claim not your bill. Your bill will specifically state what was billed to the insurance company and what was paid by the insurance company, and of course what is remaining to be paid by you.
  20. soontobe1/2ofmyself commented on Marisa46's blog entry in Circles
I too am waiting. The biggest surprise that I had was finding out that I had sleep apnea. It took me a few days to get over the initial shock, but I am coping with the diagnosis and it has even motivated me even more to go through with this surgery.
  21. Thanks for that info because I am not a fan of milk either so I'm going to try nectar products
  22. I'm praying for a June date. Currently I'm waiting on a response from the insurance company.
  23. thanks for the information. I too have been very skeptical about what protein drink will be better for me, being that I'm already not a milk drinker nor am I big on chocolate so this is going to be difficult.
