Really need help LOVING my band again!!!

I can relate somewhat to your post; I have not been 100% successful with my band . . . . LOTS of Fills and UNfills Then, I started experience severe anxiety (almost felt like a panic attack). My primary care physician put me on Wellbutrin and it has helped tremendously. Good luck on your journey

In Louisville; not too far down the road

    Clever Band Video

I liked the video; helpful. But, I wish doctors were more consistent; we all have the lap band but the approach is vastly different. For example, my doctor refuses to use fluro fill and, although the video indicated it, he will not agree to a scope ---->frustrating
  4. Ditto... I did both at the same time; no issues

  6. I am a 4th grade teacher so I can relate to your questions / issues. I eat a lot of yogurt for breakfast (add unjury UNflavored protein); then, at school I have a Dole Shakers with added UNjury UNflavored protein; that gets me to 60 grams of protein; I drink A LOT of water; I try to go to the bathroom before I pick up my students; during my plan period and at lunch; I have a teacher next door who covers my room for emergencies which happens at least once a day.
  7. Yes, I call him "TANK" which is short for cantankerous!!

    Pre-Op Shakes are AWFUL!

Try to UNflavored UNJURY and add it to the Dole Shakers (only one I can tolerate)
  9. LadyMaggie

    Unjury Question..

I am a Protein shake snob I CANNOT drink most flavors; however, I can drink the UNflavored unjury. I add one scoop to the "Dole Fruit smoothie Shakers (fruit & yogurt kit); they are in the frozen foods section near frozen juices. I bought mine at Wal-Mart. They only have 90 calories. I cannot taste the Protein powder in these shakers. Give 'em a try :0
  10. Yes, you are in "bandster hell" as posted above This journey has been TOO long for me . . . hoping to graduate to purgatory eventually. Frustrated that my doctor refuses to use fluro fill Good Luck on your journey

    Good bye bandsters, hello sleevers

I am going back for my June visit and if things do not drastically improve, I am going to ask my doctor option other options (sleeve, etc.)

    Good bye bandsters, hello sleevers

Well, I am just wondering if I had too many underlying allergy and G.I issues to warrant getting the band; I did run this by BOTH my allergy doctor and my G.I. doctor. I begged my doctor to use fluro-fill and he was insulted. I am not satisfied with my band or the results but I do see my surgeon and NUT each month because I don't know what else to do at this point. My lap band surgeon will not agree to any testing or medicines. And, yes it has been a very LONG year for my journey.

    Gained :( unfill

PinkyGirl: I am having similar issues; just wondering if I had too many underlying allergy and/ or GI issues to have the lap band ? Good luck on your journey
  14. I could NOT tolerate the smell, taste, or after taste of most protein powders or bars. I can use the UNflavored UNJURY without any issues. . . give it a try
  15. Yes, one scoop of the unjury (*unflavored*) Protein powder has about 21 grams of protein; Add it to 1/2 cup of o. j. in the morning; yogurt for snack; and to one other item you eat for dinner. voila you have 63 grams of protein
  16. Yes, I also have to resort to protein shakes or soft foods anywhere from 3 to 5 days before my cycle starts; I don't go for an unfill
  17. My thoughts on your post / topic is: PLEASE know that you are NOT alone in your struggles. I firmly believe we ALL have some form of addiction in our lives. For some people, it is gambling, drugs. For ME, it is food. I was estranged from my daughter fro 12 years, and my drug of choice was F-O-O-D. . . this is one of the reasons I gained so much weight. It is certainly easier to gain than lose; HANG IN THERE ----> sending hugs your way

Courage to not feel embarrassed I failed.

Just know that you are not alone on this journey; there are many others that hit roadblocks along the way for various way; I think they key is to find a doctor and make it a point to see him/her every 4 to 6 weeks; Good Luck

    Bad Stick Band Swollen

my two cents . . . my doctor says to avoid COLD foods and drinks when this happens; makes it worse; try WARM things like tea or soup ~ good luck !
  20. LadyMaggie

    Please read and be aware

This post is rather interesting to me because I had a diagnosis of gasteroparesis (sp?) prior to lap band; my surgeon and GI doctor new about this and did not say that I could not get the band because of it. I am having some issues and am now wondering if my underlying GI issues have something to do with this ??
  21. Did you make it to the "green zone" in your first year or second year? And, did you lose more weight in the 1st year or 2nd? I know we are not to compare- just looking for some feedback. ---signed TURTLE
  22. LadyMaggie

    Good bye bandsters, hello sleevers

Thanks for sharing your story; my journey has also been troublesome
  23. LadyMaggie

    Frustrated

my situation is similar - very frustrating indeed
  24. LadyMaggie

    sweet cravings!

I liked the dark chocolate almonds; VERY low in sugar
  25. Here is my "story" 04/09/2012 ~ LapBand Surgery (LapBand System AP Large; max fill volume 14 cc); surgeon FILLED 1 cc at time of surgery to "prime band" 06/06/12 ~ FILL appointment; ADD 3 cc 07/25/12 ~ FILL appointment; ADD 2 cc 09/12/12 ~ FILL appointment; ADD 0.5 cc 10/17/12 ~ FILL appointment; ADD 1.0 cc 11/28/12 ~ FILL appointment; ADD 1.0 cc 01/09/2013 ~ FILL appointment; add 1.0 cc (FIRST episode of severe reflux) 01/21/13 ~ UNFILL appointment; REMOVE 0.75 cc 02/20/13 ~ FILL appointment; ADD 2.00 cc (SECOND episode of severe reflux) 03/06/13 ~ REMOVE all Fluid from band I will say that I had underlying G.I. / GERD issues prior to lap band; already had gall bladder removed; hiatal hernia repaired during lap band surgery; take prescription Nexium AND Zantac 150 daily Cannot get to "green zone" -- my surgeon refuses to use Fluro Fills; says that the research does not support its use and there are more problems with trying to fill under flouro I feel like I am missing a piece of the puzzle and would like your thoughts . . . especially if you are a "Lap Band Veteran" on getting to the Green Zone and leaving the Reflux behind. Thanks
