    Regret?

I would say the first 5 days after surgery were the hardest. After that I was able to get around and breathe easier. Even though my weight loss has been slow, I don't regret surgery. It has not only helped me lose weight, but improved my confidence, energy, and made me want to take better care of myself.
  2. So I have had my band almost 5 months. I am down 34 since surgery. I am pretty much at the weight I was when I delivered my son. He is now 4! I ideally would like to get under 200 before conceiving, but it is so hard trying to be patient. I feel like I am focusing too much on the future and not the present. Doesn't help that a lot of my Mom friends are having more too. On the plus side, my husband and I can at least talk about it without me ending up in tears. He likes to plan everything, whereas I just like to let things happen. Anyone else feel like they are in the same boat?

    Update Us!

I was banded 4/16. My progress has been slow, but I know that is mostly my own doing. I am down 34 lbs since surgery. I have had 3 fills, but they are very conservative so I think I am only at 2.5 cc in a 10 cc band. I was supposed to have a fill yesterday, but pushed it back to the 20th cause feeling like I need to make some more changes personally than just relying on fills. Overall I am happy where things are at!
  4. Dr. Patterson's does 1 cc, 1cc, and then down to 1/2 cc. So about 1/2 the rate as Legacy. At least I only have a 10cc band. I have my 3rd fill (1/2 cc =/) in about 2.5 weeks.
  5. I'd like to meetup too. I couldn't stand the Costco shakes, so luckily my husband has finished them for me. Just had my second fill last week.......the fills are very slow at OWLS. Will take me at least 3 more months to get close to restriction. Other than that things have been going pretty smoothly. Does anyone have kids? My son will be 4 on the 15th!
  6. So I had my first fill on 5/24. My Dr's. office is so conservative! I received 1cc, and won't go back until 6/28 for another 1 cc. Part of me is annoyed hearing stories of people complaining about only get 3cc. After the second fill I was told they would drop down to .5 cc. At this point it will probably take at least 4 months before I get close to restriction. I don't know if I talked to them anything would change either. Anyone else in the same situation??

  8. Thanks everyone! Glad to know I am not the only one. I am going to try and just weigh once a week so the scale doesn't drive me so crazy. I know I am still recovering...just want to make sure I have some good results before seeing my Dr. I was disappointed that I wasn't seeing her until 7 weeks after, but now I am glad. I decided to start working out on my elliptical while my son naps. Going to make myself a chart today to keep track of my workouts and weight loss to keep me motivated to make the right choices.
  9. So I was banded 4/16 and felt great with my progress until lately. I was down 14lbs going into surgery, and then lost another 12 since. In the last few days I have gained back 3lbs. Is this common? I won't see my Dr. until June 7th. I was doing well eating between 700-800 calories, but now that I have gone back to work I don't feel that full feeling anymore. I work 3 days a week doing a fairly physical job driving around and merchandising. Maybe I just need to pre-plan my meals better (since I am on mushies now too)? I am just stressing that I will turn back to food to cope. I am re-joining a therapy group based around mindful eating and thankfully start again tomorrow night.

    22 Pounds Down!

Awesome! I was banded the same day. I lost 14lbs prior, and since surgery have lost another 12. I am so happy I made this decision.

    Juicing Recipes(:

I got a fantastic Breville juicer at a Garage Sale. I have yet to use it since surgery mostly because I was recovering last week. I am going to try and use mostly veggies that way it doesn't spike my blood sugar. Hoping to try out some new recipes this week. So far my favorite has just been the basic celery, carrot, apple.
  12. You will be fine. I had mine 10 days ago, and I everything is pretty much back to normal (other than being skinnier! ) This site was really helpful for me right after surgery.
  13. I am 28 and have a lot of the same health issues (appnea, borderline type 2) and a son too! Luckily my family has been supportive, and I am joining a therapy group with other women who have eating issues (some who are banded). I am proud of myself. Not only because of this decision, but also because I started this process in late 2010, but decided to postpone due to moving and a starting a new job. I am glad I waited so I knew whether or not I could make a real commitment to a lifestyle change. You know what will best meet your needs.
  14. I went to Oregon Weight Loss Surgery with Dr. Patterson. So far pretty well. I have a week left on the liquids stage. I am down another 10 lbs since surgery last Monday which is exciting My heaviest was 320 when I started this process last November, so I am glad to be back in the 200's now. I like your blog too! I had no idea about the effects on birth control.
  15. Oh sweet! Hope you have recovered well. I am in Beaverton.
