  1. Best of luck to you to Melissa41! Tomorrow that is so exciting!
  2. Hi all! I will be banded and plicated on July 30th I was packing my must haves bag (I live 4 hours away from surgeon) tonight and here is what I have so far: pain meds, chewable vitamins/minerals, protein shakes, gas-x strips, peppermint tea, bullion cubes, and heating pad. Anything else that would be helpful? I am getting nervous and want to be as prepared and pain-free as possible!
  3. BCBS of TX changed the requirements from a required six month diet to no required diet in Feb 2012. Mind you my plan may be different from others. The change made me very happy!
  4. Lol that's awesome! BCBS did the same thing to me; however, no one notified me (wonk wonk) I found out on my own. Congrats on the great news!
  5. Seems like my journey has been forever long but it hasn't in retrospect. I have BCBS of Texas and they changed the requirements in Feb. thus changing my journey. I had to have a BMI of 35 or greater with 2 co-morbidities or greater than 40. I did a sleep study, pscyh eval, several nutritionists appointments, seminar, consult, pulmonary function test, letter from GP, and was then submitted to insurance. I was approved in 48 hours and set a surgery date shortly after...then changed it because of work and family obligations. I am set for surgery on July 30th. I am getting the band with plication. About the loose skin, I agree with the rest...it is better than being overweight and the medical concerns that come with it. Whether you make the choice or not this site is a wonderful sounding board and support system so WELCOME!!!!!!!!!
  6. Lol love the online girl scream I am excited and super nervous! I am having the plication done with the band so I am hoping all goes well. What about you?
  7. My pre-op appointment is next week although I won't be banded until July 30th. What should I expect? Blood tests? ultrasounds? chest x-rays?
  8. Took a really long survey that asks you questions to determine if you are crazy (i.e. have you been on more than 14 magazine covers this year) hehe Then they talked to you about surgery, weight issues, etc, nothing to sweat.
  9. I heard it could take up to 30 days, I was approved in 48 hours.
  10. Agreed J Lewis I have been on here for a while and when I get anxious or antsy I jump on here to talk.
  11. chicken tacos and so easy Frozen chicken breast 16 oz jar of salsa 1 envelope taco seasoning 4-6 hours The chicken comes out so tender!
  12. IL far ways from CO where I am but we can support each other through the site So exciting to have others going through this at the same time!
  13. This site is an awesome place for support. You made a smart choice in recognizing you not having the support you need. We are all here when ya need someone
  14. Good luck! I'll be behind you on the 30th
  15. I only have to do 24 hours of clear liquids pre-op, I wonder why hmmm
  16. I just pushed my surgery date back to July 30th! We had the opportunity to do it when my hubby was home so pushing it back is totally worth it Where are you having yours done?
  17. Best of luck you will do great!
  18. Thank you all for your support, it makes me feel so good to know I have access to others that understand.
  19. I had my first in depth nutrition class this morning and it is all so overwhelming! So much information, do's, don'ts, and it is all making my head spin. I have been reading and researching this for so long I thought I knew everything and now I feel I know nothing. I have even panicked a bit and thought about pulling out of the surgery.
