  1. End of July will be here before you know it!!
  2. What a blessing! Good luck to you (both) LOL!
  3. You have been through and are continuing to go through very significant and life-altering situations. It sounds like it's time for you to really take care of you! Try the heart-to-heart. There's a reason you got together in the first place, but don't settle. If it's time to move on, then do it. There do seem to be a lot of posts about relationships here. I bet you can find a ton of support. Congrats on your weight loss (and your battle with cancer). You look so happy!
  4. What a great NSV! Congrats to you. People at work are starting to notice how baggy my clothes are getting, it's such a compliment, but at the same time, so hard for me to accept/believe/process. I don't know the right word, but it's just not something I'm used to hearing! :-D
  5. WoW. I think, sometimes my surgery was done in the Land of Oz. I'm 5 weeks out and not allowed to have anything that isn't completely blended and pureed to a smooth consistency. And I need to still be eating this way for another 3-4 weeks. Post op weeks 9-13 I'm allowed to add fish, cottage cheese, cheese and Beans. When I see posts about what people can eat at weeks 2, 3, 4, etc.; it sure makes me want to go against doctor's orders. I can honestly say that I'm sick of Protein drinks, and creamed Soups. But I remind myself that just like we are not here to compare our weight loss to each other to validate (or frustrate) ourselves, what we eat should also not be driven by what other people do or don't eat. Just be careful!
  6. WELCOME! How lucky for you to find such a great forum to help with your journey. Yes, Dorrie has it right! That's a great (and do-able) place to start. Hope to hear more about how everything works out for you and your family. :-D
  7. I understand. I don't know about you, but I have a long history of failure to compete with. Don't worry! We'll be fine!
  8. Oh wow! Fantastic! You look amazing and your advice is spot on! I wish I had taken measurements.
  9. Great ideas on this thread!! I like the Cooking Light, too!
  10. Caffeine is acidic and can deteriorate the lining of your stomach. We do not have much of a stomach, let alone lining, left to deteriorate. As it was put to me, we need to protect our lining as much as possible.
  11. I've been wondering about that. I'm still on very liquid-like foods so I haven't run into this type of problem yet. Good post.
  12. Lauren, you've lost 42 pounds and if your ticker is right, another 22 pounds since your surgery 27 days ago. You're doing great. Give yourself and your body some time. This is a lifelong journey, not a weekend holiday!
  13. I didn't have any questions. I was on track and just grateful for the assurance that I was on track!
  14. The pounds coming off feel great, don't they? You've done an excellent job. Just be careful about eating thing with "chunks" too early. You may feel great on the inside but you have a VERY long incision on the inside that needs time and soft foods, gliding by, to heal. IMO - this early on, it wouldn't take much for some small piece of food to get caught in that incision line and cause damage. Keep Rockin' that Sleeve!!
  15. Joni- I do the same thing. That's so funny!
  16. OH YES!! Me too!! I've always been so very, very hot. Everyone around me in shorts and tee shirts and I'd be the one with sweat running down my back. Now I'm freezing all the time. We keep the house about 4-6 degrees hotter now than ever before and I'm still sleeping with my heated mattress pad on. I finally hit week 4 and just within the last few days, I almost feel a little more normal. But...we'll see!
  17. I'm just starting to run into people I haven't seen in a while and getting "noticed." It's still kind of hard for me to BE noticed. I've spent a lot of time trying to fade into the background and not wear anything to draw attention, so now, when people say something my first reaction (in my head) is yeah, right. Then I think (louder in my head) YEAH! RIGHT!! :-D Good for you BayDawg!
  18. Great job! Keep up the good work!!
  19. I have the same surgery date and I'm down 3-4 pounds more than that. I think we're doing GREAT! I don't remember any diet I've ever followed that's has resulted in this kind of weight loss, and I still feel great!
  20. I had protein shakes from the day I got home too.
  21. It's easy to get married. It's hard to stay married. I see that you have a lot of support her and through your health professionals; but I'd like to add my 2-cents. Please check out this link....http://www.jayandlaura.com/ Really look at their WebSite and even like them on FaceBook. I know these people personally and they have a passion for MARRIAGE. If you can arrange it, Jay and Laura do a "Destination Event" on Mackinaw Island (Michigan) and it's 2 days of reconnecting with your spouse. They are bringing in an AMAZING guest speaker from Texas. They also travel all over the US, and even into Canada, for their "Ultimate Date Night" Seminars. I pray you get the health, help and guidance to do what is best for you. In the meantime, I highly recommend getting a dog. Spend time training the little guy (get a smart one, like a golden retriever) and certify him/her to do therapy work. I did this when it became impossible for me to have children and I didn't know how to feel "fulfilled." The time I spend with my Charlie bringing happiness to others that are in nursing homes, hospitals, schools and libraries is very fulfilling! Good luck to you!
  22. Original wt: 218 Surgery on 3/27: 214 4 weeks post op: 189 Doc has me on 4 more weeks of soft/ puréed foods! Can't wait for mid May!!
  23. Greek Yogurt, Cottage Cheese and Cottage cheese doubles (with like a tablespoon of fruit), tomato soup or other strained soups. To be honest, being sad (then comes bored) with food helps with breaking (for me) the strong connection between needing to eat and wanting to eat. I spent a good portion of my life living to eat and not just eating to live. Know what I mean? I understand, though. I've recently been dreaming about MEAT. Pork steak in particular! LOL Good luck!!
