    Staying in Hospital

I had surgery at 10am and was home by 1:30pm. I did sleep in the recliner for about 4 nights though. But it wasn't too bad at all!

Good luck and hang in there. Think of how fantastic you're going to look!

Hang in there plain. You'll be feeling pretty good by the end of the week! Honestly, I haven't felt the same type of hungry since I've had my band. I get hungry occasionally, but it's something I can ignore...not like the FEED ME feeling I had before surgery. I guess, for me, the commercials got the "tame your huger" part right!

    How is your body reshaping?

32 and down around70-75lbs depending on where I weigh. My thighs are deflating, and scaring me. They look like bites have been taken out of them in places. Arms need to be trimmed or I'll take flight. I've got well defined biceps under all that skin, but my arm is almost double the actual width of the muscle. Not sure about the belly/panni yet, it's deflating and tightening more than I thought it would. Talk to my doc about it and she pinched my skin some and told me that I wouldn't need any PS if I would do body sculpting and weight training. She said if there was something that didn't tighten up from that, that she could do smartlipo to stimulate skin tightening. Reguardless, I'm in the gym 4-6 days a week now if I can get there! She also told me to wait 2 years that it takes at least that much time for the skin to catch up with the weightloss.

Please excuse the typos, y'all know how excited I get when I type! I also have been taking some of those test tube protein supplements on the days I go to the gym. I bought mine at joe smoothie's on summerhill and they have 45 grams of protein, I only take half a tube after each workout. That seems to be getting my weight going again.

I usualy eat protein breakfast bar or shake in the morning. Sometimes I have runny oatmeal. Lunch is usually a tiny chefboyrdee beeferoni cup or cold cuts and cheese and maybe two crackers. Supper is a small portion of something my family is eating. Since we have a 3 year old, it's usually thin crust pizza, chicken nuggets, pasta, or chicken and veggies. NSV I got in the a regular size XL (not a women's size) pants and top today! It didn't look good, but I have NEVER had a misses XL on my body! I also got into a smaller size pants! Still not much progress on the scale, but I guess I really am losing inches. I was also able to run 4 miles at the gym today without slowing and I did 2 miles on the bike! That was a personal best for me. I started out before surgery hardly being able to get out of bed and go to the bathroom without feeling tired and sweating. It's amazing how much better I feel this far along!
  9. I'm not finding out a whole lot about this procedure. I have a few questions about it too. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places? Any information provided would be greatly appreciated! I still have a way to go before really getting on with PS search, but I thought it might be wise to start saving up for what I might need now since my insurance is horrid! My insurance will pay for a Panniculectomy but not for abdominoplasty. Why? How much does it cost compared to abdominoplasty? Can I have more children after a Panniculectomy or is it discouraged too? Why is pregnancy doscouraged after these types of surgery...because you might have to have it again or does it make it dangerous?

    Panniculectomy?

:smile2: Thank you! LJM...let me say, you are one of my lapband heros! I've been following you and your other threads for almost 2 years! You are doing great, and you are one the reasons I decided to go ahead with lapband! Thank you for being so open and honest. It's been one of the best decisions I've ever made! I'm sorry about your recent bout of bad luck, but I know you'll pull through. You're in my prayers!
  11. I got to that dragging around point and started protein supplements. After about three days you'll notice a difference. Shoot for the high end of what your doctor recommends of protein grams.

Sugarbear, you okay? Haven't heard from you in a while and didn't see you at the meeting. I'm managed to almost go a whole week without going to the gym! Geez....the flu is going around school and hubby has it and I've been running, running, running to get everybody at our house some tamaflu. Hopefully, I'll get to go tonight!

It was a long meeting, but helped me realize that I'm probably not getting enough protein with all the exercising I'm doing and that's why I'm losing like I thought I would. Amy said that if you work out for an hour or more you should try to get a little more that 60 grams in a day. I will try this and see how it works and let y'all know.

I should be there tonight. Hubby has the flu, so if he's feeling bad I may stay and help. If not, I'll be there right after aerobics.

    Help me please!

I'm not 100% positive, but I think my doctors at Precision Surgery have done a few 17-18 year olds. You may want to call and ask. I know that they do a lot of pediatric general surgeries because my sister-in-law works with them as a nurse on the pediatric unit. Here's their website if you're interested: Lap Band Surgery Texarkana- Serving Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana

    Help me please!

I saw on Oprah yesterday that a minor had her's done in Mexico...Dr. Oritz did her's I think. They also covered a boy who had gasteric by-pass done by pediatric surgeon (NY.) You may want to look at pediatric surgeons as well. Maybe Oprah's site has something about it today. Hope that helps a little.

    Elliptical Machine??

Anybody use an elliptical machine in their workouts? What level do you use? How long/how far do you go? I've been using one for about 3 weeks and haven't lost/gained any, and maybe I need to kick it up some? I'm also doing step aerobics, strength training, and yoga. I've been using it on levels 3 and 5 for 35 minutes going betweek 2.5 and 3.7 miles. I feel like I'm running on it, but who knows! Any suggestions? I've been pleateaued for about 2 months and I still have another 75 or so lbs to go! HELP!

    Elliptical Machine??

Sharon, I'm as tight as at times. How long have you had your band again? I can't wait until I can run. I'm looking forward to those 16s too! I know exactly what you mean. I started out a size 30!

    Elliptical Machine??

WOW, way to go Sharon. What is the Bean? I'm just now realizing that I can move and I'm so happy about it! I can't wait until my lbs start dropping again! I'll try the protein and water thing this week.

YEAH LISA! Mine wasn't high, but boarderline before. When I donated blood a few weeks ago it was 186! I know you're feeling fine about it. If you start feeling faint/weak or dizzy when you stand up, have 'em check out those BP meds.

Ugh! I think I have that stomach virus...mildy...just enough to feel icky. I ordered from Bariatric Advantage and yet again am I diappointed. They evidentally don't have the vitaband vitamins in stock and I'm going to have to wait FOREVER again to get them. I wonder if they are slow delivering to anyone else? I hope our docs read this and maybe could mention it to the company. It took almost 4 weeks last time to get my biotin, and they offered no apologies or even a discount....that was like 2 1/2 weeks late according to their statements! So if you need something from then soon, plan on it taking a while to get here!
