  1. I talked to my OB about it this past April and she said to have to kids first then to tuck, to avoid extra surgeries. I think I may invest in some kinds of semi-comfy compression garment until I have another baby in the next couple of years. On the bright side...maybe you won't need a tuck. My lapband doc swears that I won't need one if I lift weights, she said at most a little laser lipo that tightens the skin too.

Just hang in there. It took a while for the swelling to go down for me too. I lost the weight I have very quickly and have been at a stand still since October 07. I'm only half way through. You'll be amazed how much better you'll feel this time next month! Thank you for the kind words. I hope to be at Txarka meeting tonight.

I had to have another unfill in May. Dr. H wants to take a look, he still suspects a small hernia. He's also concerned because I'm not having a consistant fill volume like everybody else. I'm reluctant, because I'm just not up to another surgery unless it's life threatening. I've decided to at least let them look though, maybe it will expalin the tightness for no reason. If it does need repair, then I'll think about having it in the summer if it really is hindering my progress. I know that I was under the most sinificant stress of this past year in May...Dr. K told me in December that stress can play a part in being too tight. I didn't realize the stress at the time and didn't say anything to Dr. H. then. I'm going to discuss it again on the 28th and then if I can find time before school starts to have the endoscopy, I will. I don't know where we will go from there, though. When I had that upper GI last November, they were looking for that hernia then too and couldn't find anything other than stress.

They finally got back to me! I'm scheduled for a fill on the 28th. I'll talk to him again about the endscopy next time then.

I tried the number you gave and I guess it's the same one. I still got Betty's voice mail. I hurt my back doing yardwork yesterday so I won't get to go by today, I have one day left that I can do the test so I will try on Monday to get an appointment in person. I need a slight fill though to make it. I hope I can get a hold of someone soon!

I tried calling Monday and then again this morning and only got Betty's voice mail. It's unusual that they haven't tried to return the call yet. I'm running out of time that I have free to get this endscopy done!

Do any of y'all know if the docs are still out of town? I tried to call and schedule the endscopy yesterday and couldn't get through and had to leave a message.

    Endoscopy concerns

Have any of you had the endosccopy after being banded? Did your insurance pay for it?

    Endoscopy concerns

My doc wants to to have one because he suspects a tiny hernia. If you don't mind my asking, what are the reasons they docs would suggest having an endoscopy? I'm struggling with the decision to have one.

We're still in VA. We will head home next Tuesday or Wednesday. We've had a nice time. I start working on July 17th. I will find out next week if I get funding for National Board from the state. If I get it I will go for it and if I don't I'll try again next year to get funding and focus on something else. I'm doing good, but I'm struggling with the suggestion to have endoscopy on my stomach that Dr. H made last time I was in. I really don't want to have it unless I get way too tight again. I'm afraid if I don't have it, then Dr. H. won't give me anymore fills. I think I will try and call the office on Monday an try to talk to them about it or schedule another appointment to talk to Dr. H. I just strongly don't feel that it is a hernia that's been giving me trouble with being too tight. Even if it IS a hernia, I seriously doubt that I will let them repair it until next summer when I have time to recover from it (unless it is something serious.) I'm just not up for another surgery so soon, to be honest!. I've actually felt very comfortable since he took some out in May. In my humble opinion, I think I'm just hypersensitve to the band, especially during times of high stress. I know that my BP shoots up if I get stressed and I have TMJ related to stress too. When I manage my stress better, I do better with all that stuff and my band. Any suggestions?

Welcome Addy! You're surgery was exactly 1 year after mine! Congratulations! The fills don't hurt, unless you have to get poked twice, and then it's just a little sting. Don't be nervous. Just follow the doctor's orders and you'll do great!

Hey y'all, Just checking in from VA. Dr. H took some out of my band right before I came home 3 weeks ago, I can eat anything now. But believe it or not, I've lost 2lbs (and thats with the shoes on!) I'm much more active than I am during school though, I hope I can keep it up. I had a nsv this week...I ran a 7 minute mile on the elliptical! I started out at 14 minute mile in Feb! I also ran a little over 6 miles on Tuesday. It's so amazing that I can move!!!!! :rolleyes2:

I'm still doing much better. I've even taken in all my water today! It's been months since I could do that! Maybe that's an indication of being too tight too???? Anybody know if it is? The water would go down, but I just couldn't take in all that we're supposed to because it took so long to go down.

Went to check in with Dr. H because I'm having that crazy tightness that can't be explained that I've been experiencing from the beginning. I was fine the first 4 weeks of this fill and then I ate too quickly and threw up pretty badly . I've progressively been getting tighter each day since. Tuesday and Wednesday were very rough, I could barely drink water. Dr. H suspects a tiny hernia that wasn't detected on my upper GI from November and I will have to have an scope sent down to see what's going on in July. Dr. H took .14 out and I feel MUCH better today. I honestly think my band may have been slightly slipped. I didn't think to tell him how violently I've been throwing up the past two weeks when things have been getting tighter because I was just amazed that as he took the saline out I heard and felt something shift and losen and the immediate relief. When I sat up, the pressure I didn't realize I was feeling relaxed and I could take a deep breath. This morning, I really do think it was a slight slip now that I look back on when it started happening. Just wanted to let you all know to keep an eye out for this if you should really heave when throwing up. Anybody had an endscopy? Tell me what it's like so I can prepare mentally.

I hope you all are doing okay. It's been so crazy the past couple of weeks. I'm still working on that darned paper, but I wanted to check on you and see how you're doing! Good luck with surgery... I've had teeth cleaning that hast hurt worse! If you're recovering, just hang in there!
  20. I went to a Seminar on 3/13 and found out that AR teacher's insurance won't cover the surgery. :angry I'm curious if (and how many) there are other teachers in AR who are interested in having Lap-band surgery. I think we should all be writing letters to the Governer and out State Reps. to find out why 70% of insurances cover the surgery, but our insurance doesn't! Please post and let me know if you're a teacher and would like to change our insurance!

I will do my best to be there tonight. All kinds of crazy/sad things are happening here at work. STRESS! I'll try to do that water thing so maybe I'll be able to stay in the box this week! Thanks Lisa!

I know this is gross, but I keep empty butter dishes and yogurt containers in my car with some paper towels just in case the slime sneaks up on me. It's saved me twice now! Nothing too interesting going on here. I had a week from hell, and looking to have another....then maybe peace will come back into my life! Lisa, stress squeezes your band too...I hate that side effect the most!

Thanks everyone! That danged 5lbs that I THOUGHT I lost showed up overnight! GEEZ! Maybe it will go away overnight too! Here's something new on the exercise front. Some of my co-workers are doing the 4 mile Walk Away the lbs Video everyday after school. I tried it with them and to be honest, was almost as tired as when I go to the gym and run 3.25 miles then lift weights! I think I will try to do this more often on the days I can't get to the gym. I thought some of you might want to try it at home too, it takes about 45 minutes and is not real hard. I think I'm going to do liquids for as long as I can stand it the next few days to see if I can get these stupid 5lbs off once and for good! Hang in there everybody! Oh yeah, have any of you tried Weight Watchers with the band? I wonder if you can do that?????
