  1. My aunt, who has the lapband (who will soon be switching to the sleeve) shared her little trick for getting her Protein Shakes down. At night when she is wanting something sweet, she makes a chocolate Protein Shake with a quarter of a banana and puts a dash of mint extract, helps with the taste AND the smell!! She made one for me with chocolate muscle milk Protein and I swear it was close to a milk shake! You can buy all kinds of extracts at Wal Mart in the spice section, mint, coffee, cinnamon, lemon etc...

  3. Hi,

I've been reading quite a bit lately about feeling depressed/down after surgery due to the estrogen being released in your body as the fat burns. I also assume that it's also due to the fact that your body just went through a major change and temporary feelings of depression are normal after such an ordeal. I am worried about this, as I have a history of depression on and off for the past 12 years. After the birth of my second daughter. Is this a temporary feeling of sadness or do you feel like this as long as you have fat to burn?

  4. I went to the seminar this past week and while some of my surgeons patients talked to us about the procedure of the sleeve, they all mentioned that our surgeon double stapples the stomache when he closes up the new pouch as an extra precaution. My question is, is this customary? Do all surgeons do this or is this something extra? I am so worried about having post complications.

  5. Amy,

the same thing happened to me. Was all for the band, posted over on their forum. Then I went to the seminar...My mind was totally changed! I went to my PCP today and told her that I went in thinking and the band and she shook her head no. I finished saying how I left wanting the sleeve and she smiled and said that's what she wants for me too. Just her saying that made me feel so comforted. I don't have a surgery date yet, still finishing up the pre op testing. I'm so glad to read that I'm not alone! Good luck in your journey.

  6. Hi Aviiva,

I haven't had my surgery yet but I have wondered if I will feel that same way. I went to my first support meeting and a woman there who is 6 months out said that a few days after she had her surgery, woke up in the middle of the night in a panic wondering what the heck she just did. That was the only time she paniced after the surgery and she said she looks back and kind of laughs at that because she doesn't regret her surgery at all and given the oppourtunity to do it again, she would. I think the feelings are totally normal. Take one day, moment at a time and focus on the wonderful things that are to come for you!

    Christine :)
