  1. I have stayed the same for about 3 weeks...hoping this stall breaks soon. I have gone astray as far as eating Protein, because it does fill you up too much...I am trying to get back to it. I ate turkey burger for lunch, plain, with about two bites of lettuce with a little ranch. I need to get back to my taco salads...:) They were good. The Protein Shakes had started making me sick to my stomach, and I have read other people have the same problem. They used to not bother me. So I have not been drinking those. I have drank skim milk for protein, and milk can be heavy. I am eating small amounts of salad...love, love, and just a piece or so of meat. I have tried Cereal for breakfast...it does not fill me up like protein does...which I welcome that every once in a while. Sometimes I feel I am eating too much, and then I start measuring again and realize it is only 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food...if it is protein, it is less...still loving my sleeve, but want to rock it a little harder so I can get to one-derland. I feel I could do it in a month if I really set my mind to it...:)

Congratulations to everybody on the weight loss. It looks like we are mostly losing the same...I haven't lost 50 yet, but I am close to it.

  2. Another hotter than heck day here in Missouri, but I have a lot to Celebrate. I have entered the 270's. I am so excited. I still can only eat very small amounts or I feel yucky. My free fluids have increased to a being able to get down a full 20 oz. bottle of low calorie Gatorade. Plain Water still does not sit very well in my sleeve. I used to LOVE Water, but now, not so much. Several times I have gone back to eating Soups and really soft foods. I can handle some new things that I could not before like I ate some really chopped up coleslaw salad. Man, did that taste good. I could not eat much, about 3 tablespoons in all and it took me a good 1/2 hour, but it was so nice to crunch into any type of salad. I was thrilled. As long as I stick to really well chewed, not dry foods, I seem to do ok. I have to admit though, I am a bit scared to advance my food much beyond what I know already works. I just don't want to feel sick.

Congrats to all of our losses. Keep cool everyone.

I went on a Tomato binge...I put tomatoes in everything. Rolled up turkey slices, a little lettuce with tomatoes sliced in my food processor (which makes them real thin), something about the tomatoes really fill you up. I have heard other people talk about watermelon, and I haven't tried that yet, but I bet it is the same effect as tomatoes. I have had a couple of grapes. Those weren't too bad. Don't really like bananas with my sleeve. I always hated water, now I love water...especially if it is soured with some lemon...I think I am right at 40 pounds lost, and my three month mark is next Tuesday. My 3-month dr visit is on the 16th. I wanted to be at 50 by then, but I am not so sure I am going to make that...but, I am not disappointed in what I have lost. And this two-week stall could throw off ten pounds by then. Who knows? I just wanted to congratulate you on your 89 pound loss...and say thanks for the encouraging words.

  3. I was sleeved on 4/10. My start weight was 261 and I am now 223. I am a slow loser. I have to stick to my diet. Protein and water!!!! Lots of Water. After I increased my water the weight started coming off. I eat the same old thing. Lots of fish, tuna, chicken and eggs. I also have a Protein Shake each morning for breakfast.

Join us on my fitness pal. U can track every bite and have a group of friends to support u. Look me up my user is bkswann.

    Good luck!

Water does make a difference, and I think I am going to add my shake back in. Trail mix (planters brand) has caught my attention, and I think I need to lay off of it...I don't know why nuts and raisins sit well...

  4. Would do it over and over and over and over again if I had to....wish I had done it 15 years ago...I love being in control of what I eat...once you get past the restrictions, you can just about eat anything....I am sometimes in awe at how much less I am eating than before...food goes way further now...I don't eat all the leftovers...I don't snack...I don't eat a meal before the meal....I drink Water all the time...love, love, love my sleeve. Now, if I could just kick start my butt to exercise!!!!!!!

  5. Hello everyone, have any sleevers eaten baked potato chips since being sleeved? I have such a craving for chips, but won't touch the regular chips. Please help! Also have anyone tried the fat free ice cream?

I ate potato chips, real ones, and only had 5...they were so good. They tasted so potatoey...That was the only time. I think it was Mother's day...I have not had any ice cream....I have not eaten anything sweet, except some trail mix...oh, and I make iced coffee.< /p>

  6. I went through all of the clomid and the other stuff, where you take the injections every day for two weeks, FSH, and then LH, and then something else...anyway, I finally got pregnant...it was a long and arduous road though...don't give up...try to relax...(P.S. when I got pregnant, we only did it one time that month, on the 21st day of my cycle)...I was about at the giving up stage...

  7. I weighed today and I am now on a 4 week stall even gained a 5 lbs idk why. I eat right , do what I need to. total loss since surgery is at 13lbs. Any suggestions? I am in total awe , it seems my sleeve is broke :(

Keep on keeping on...it will come off. Someone else said they had to walk three miles a day to bust their stall. I just woke up one day and had lost ten pounds from the day before. Plus, it looks to me like you have lost a lot of weight, so your body is still probably freaking out from the surgery. Try just a straight low-carb diet for a few days and see if that helps. I stay away from sugar, but I have found that seafood sits pretty well. And I have also found if I don't get in my Water, I will stall. Try giving up one thing, like something Splenda laden. I have found that Crystal Lite will stall me if I drink too much...but since my surgery, I love water - with lots of lemon juice...don't know why, because I never liked water.

  8. We are all so funny...wow, I've only lost 33 pounds in seven weeks...or, oh, no, I haven't lost anything in three days, after I just lost fifty pounds...LOL...we are so impatient...Maybe that's why conventional diets didn't work for us.:) I think the same thing, oh, so-and-so has lost 20 pounds more than me in the same amount of time...what are they doing that I am not? I find it funny now, and I am the world's worst....

  9. I still sometimes feel weak and dizzy...I am seven weeks out. I am going to Pilates tonight, and I was planning on a pump-it up class tomorrow morning, but I will see how Pilates goes. I need to build back my stamina...it's too hot to walk already. So I will have to try the treadmill.

  10. Oops, out of curiosity, does anyone encounter the same issue?

I have strange appetite and it differs every 2-3 days. For eg: for 2-3 days i can hardly have 3 tablespoon of food each meal. Then the next 2-3 days, i have very good appetite!

Its so frustrating to plan my meal...

I saw my surgeon a few days ago and explained my situation... All he said was " i recommend you dontneat so much"

Wth?? He didn't even ask what i was eating everymeal.

Im either on fish, chicken breasts... All steamed or beancurd!! And just 1 -2 oz of it each time. I get hungrynevery 2-3 hours too... Is that ok? Am i over eating?

That's the way it is...Some days, I don't really even feel like eating, and then other days, I am starving...some days, a little; some a lot....just listen to your sleeve. It gets easier and easier....

  11. First, I have had crappy weight loss. I was 5 wks postop yesterday. In 3 wks, I have lost 1 pound. I gained weight while in the hospital for sleeve, admitted weighing 203, came home at 210. I now weigh 189. I started preop diet weighing 213. So, I have lost a total of 24 pounds. Your 49 sounds pretty damn good to me! :)

in the last couple weeks, I wake up every day with burning in my throat. And then through most of the day, as well as throughout the day. I feel like I have a lump at the base of my throat. When I start to eat, it can get worse with burning. I know this is probably acid reflux, and I am already taking an antacid. I will be calling the surgeon's office tomorrow to find out if this is normal at this stage. I also get nauseous at times. These things are turning me off food so I hardly want to eat anything at all even though I am forcing myself. I go from tolerating Protein drinks to barely being able to swallow them without gagging. I too had been tracking everything I ate, along with nutrition facts, but haven't been doing that the last week or so. It seems I have a good day followed by 1 or 2 bad days before a good day again. I'm hoping the surgeon will have some answers for me and also that this is just another phase to get through.

Like you, I'm not sorry and don't regret my decision for sleeve, just frustrated, a little worried, and wanting to understand what's going on.

Joni, I think your weight loss is great. I didn't lose much either. The pre-op week of liquids, I didn't lose an ounce. I had lost ten pounds at one week post-op, but that was two weeks of liquids, one of which was clear liquids...And then recently, I did not lose a single pound for 18 straight days...then, I got on the scale and I had lost ten pounds overnight. I am 7 weeks out yesterday, and I have lost a total of 40 pounds, including the 7 pounds before my pre-op liquid diet. So really, only 33 since surgery...but, hey, I will take it...I would not have lost this much before surgery, and I can tell I am losing every single day. It may not show on the scale, but I know it is coming off. Also, my attitude is better, and I really do feel better...one of my NSVs was painting my own toenails and doing my own pedicure...my energy is still not 100 percent, but I am getting stronger every day, and you will too...and 24 pounds is awesome...

  12. There is also an in topic: You need to know what I just discovered, that covers some of these issues, also.

But MeginNOLA makes iced coffee, with a little Hershey's lite Syrup, and I went out and bought it to try the iced coffee idea. I do mine in the blender, coffee, 1/2 scoop of chocolate whey Protein, splenda, ice, cinnamon, all blended up and then when I pour it in my cup, I squirt a little syrup on it...it is really good.

I also use a little ff milk.

  14. Joni......I believe you and I were sleeved the same day.....April 24th?

Wonder if this is something people go through at 5 weeks or so?

I'm absolutely not complaining about my weight loss. More than anything I'm worried about my health.

When I do eat I get that feeling in my throat that your talking about. Not really the burning so much as the lump in my throat. I always feel like I'm trying to fight off throwing up. The doc said to make sure I'm measuring everything. I should only be eating 2 oz or 1/4 cup. I get that feeling even when I measure. I'm wondering if I need to just fight through that feeling and just keep on eating and maybe one day that feeling will just go away?

Like you I am so frustrated and am not even concerned with eating. I think I'm gonna call my doc tomorrow and ask if I can switch antacids. Maybe both of us r just having a problem with antacid.

The only thing I've been able to eat with no problem is watermelon.....and man its wonderful. I'm not even supposed to be eating that yet.

Good luck, Joni! I hate ur feeling bad also. Maybe we can both get some answers from our surgeons. We'll get through this....I'm sure of it! :)

Read posts and blogs by MeginNOLA...she was sick until 7 weeks out and she talks about antacids, and she really has a lot of great tips. She was kind enough to message me her diet...and gave me some great pointers. I am sure she will be happy to address these issues with y'all. She has a lot of posts about the same things...

  15. I've followed it faithfully! I feel like a pig :(

I have felt like that a couple of times...it has gotten way better the last couple of weeks...In the beginning, it's like you are so consumed with what you can and can't have. As you go along, you learn what you can and can't eat...you quit trying things and really start using the sleeve to your benefit. I ate about 10 pita chips today...five of them had hummus, the other five were plain...I was so full I could barely move...But for Breakfast, I had about 1/4 cup of frittata, lunch was about 2 oz of chicken, and then I ate those pita chips...I most of the time eat five meals a day, but today, I have only eaten three times. Probably cause I ate five times yesterday...and I am just not that hungry today. So don't beat yourself up over it. I remember drinking 12 oz of Protein drink when I was doing liquids...my doctor said that was normal in the liquid stage. I did not gulp it down, but I don't remember savoring it for any great amount of time either...I don't think there is a lot of stretching going on in the first months anyway...I think that probably comes with overindulging over a period of time...

  16. I think it takes a little while to start feeling the real restriction. As long as you are consuming mostly liquids and really soft foods, you can take in way more...once you add meat to the mix, it seems you fill up quickly. I actually think you are not as sensitive nerve-wise and it takes a little while to start really feeling the restriction. I think that is the reason it is so important to follow your post-op diet...

  17. It works...It won't be overnight, but it definitely works...In a few weeks, you won't really think about your surgery that much...It took about 4 weeks to be normal, but it will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself...just take a deep breath. Everything will be all right...It works....I mean, after four weeks, you will be able to eat something substantial, and you do worry a lot over food choices in the first few weeks...Now, I am trying to get into exercising and being on a healthful diet that works for me...which means Protein, veges, and a few fruits...Everybody here will be sending prayers your way!!!! Think positive...I thought about baling out in the pre-op area...haha...the nurse said it was my last chance to change my mind...I told her to just put me to sleep so I wouldn't chicken out. Sending positive thoughts your way.
