Me In A Bikini... Say It Isn't So!
iwannabslim replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hot mama! What you have accomplished with your sleeve is AMAZING! You inspire us all to keep reaching higher because after watching you, we KNOW we can!!! -
Reminds me of salty sprite.

I'm June 28th too!! So exciting!

Your problem may be associated with having your gall bladder out. The gall bladder would hold bile to be secreted to aid with digestion , but with the fall bladder gone, that bile is secreted directly into your intestines when you eat. At least, this is how it was explained to me after having my gall bladder out.

Who To Tell And Not Tell....
iwannabslim replied to kmoore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I currently have the lapband and planned on telling only a select few. I told one good friend at work who let it slip. I was upset because it started questions from food police. Now that I have gained some of my weight back, it makes it even more embarrassing. I don't plan to tell anyone but my husband this time around. If I have to say anything, it will be hernia repair (which is actually true). I don't want or need the snide remarks from the unsupportive people that I work with. My cousin has the sleeve and the family makes snide remarks about how thin and sickly she looks. Mind you, most of my family have BMIs WAY over 40. My husband knows, but HE doesn't get it. He thinks this is a device that can be removed like my lapband. Um, nope. I won't even explain it to him later... -
June Surgery Pre-Op Diets Encouragement/vents

No one has ever explained it to me. It is so funny to see the drastic differences in both preop and postop eating plans. It boggles the mind. -
June Surgery Pre-Op Diets Encouragement/vents
iwannabslim replied to MinaT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
YES, you CAN do this!! I had the option of doing a similar meal plan, but I figured I would rather go with what I know. The glucerna shakes aren't great, but I know I can stomach them. I have tried several Protein supplements over the years. None of them are great to me. I am hoping that after surgery, I will still like the few that I find I can stomach now. I am trying not to go overboard with buying things ahead of time for fear that my tastes change drastically. I found, the last time I had to do a preop diet, that after the first few days, I got over being hungry. By the end, I wasn't even able to finish all of the stuff per day that I COULD have. -

Which hot chocolate did you get? I just ordered a Protein hot chocolate a few days ago. I can only hope it tastes ok. I haven't started my pre testing yet. I go for my psych evaluation on Friday. I have my nutrition class on June 5th. I figure the blood work and upper GI will be closer to surgery. -
June Surgery Pre-Op Diets Encouragement/vents

I'm a June sleever, but I won't start my preop diet until the 14th. I am trying to ease my way into now by making healthier choices and working out. My preop diet will consist of 6 Glucerna shakes a day, 2 servings of low/no fat low/no sugar yogurt, two 8oz servings of juice, and all of the no calorie drinks I can stand. I currently have the lapband and have gone through this before, but it's still going to be a struggle. I have my surgery the week before the 4th of July. I don't plan to have a party then either. I'm sure that my husband and son will cookout, but I shall abstain. Maybe I can lick the BBQ sauce. :0) -
June 28th here. I am a band to sleeve revision and start my preop diet on the 14th. It can't come fast enough!
-
I couldn't, for the life of me, remember where I saw that. Thanks. I think that is exactly what I was reading.
-
I am still pre-op, but I read that there is something in the stomach that regulates body temperature. My understanding is this is affected by the removal of so much stomach during sleeve surgery. I'm not completely sure on how this works, but it makes sense when you consider how often you hear of post WLS surgery patients being cold.

Hi all. I am recently approved and scheduled for revision surgery. I currently have a lapband. I have had it since 2008. I lost almost 85 pounds over two years and maintained until early last year when it started giving me issues. I am currently scheduled to be converted to the sleeve June 28th (it can't get here fast enough). I can't say that I regret going with the band initially simply because I don't think I was ready, mentally, for the permanence of the sleeve back then. Now? I am SO ready to get this journey started! Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. Hello from TN!
-
Well, my surgeon's office finally called today to schedule. I am currently scheduled for June 28th. It may be scheduled for earlier, but I doubt it. They said that the doctor isn't on call after the earlier possible date. He likes to be on call after revisions in case there are any problems. That makes a lot of sense to me. They said that if he isn't going out of town, they will give me the earlier date. I guess we shall see.

Looking like June 28th. That seems so far away! The doc's office will check for an earlier date. Woohoo! -

Hi! It is very easy to stalk around here. I did it for weeks before joining as well. Good luck to you!

Glad you are improving! VERY glad the fever is gone. I bet being able to lay on your side is awesome.

I'm Halfway There...need Suggestions?
iwannabslim replied to Gigi_Girl's topic in Insurance & Financing
It wouldn't hurt to get your doctor involved in the appeals process. Check with the coordinator at the doctor's office. I bet they could help. -
Have you ever gone to theworldaccordingtoeggface ? She has several recipes for what she calls "bites", but they are mini crustless quiche. I've not tried any that weren't good, and she is a WLS patient so they are always WLS friendly recipes.
-
I've called. They said that they still had to call insurance to "verify" benefits... wth? That was on Tuesday. I went to the office on Wednesday hoping to make them go ahead and schedule but to no avail. This is truly frustrating. I thought I would be further on my way at this point!

This is frustrating! I've had my approval since Monday, and I STILL don't have a date!!! I can't believe this!!! Arg!!!
