  1. I was banded in 2007. When I had my gallbladder out in Feb 2012, the doc confirmed that the band had slipped (I knew it about a week after the original surgery!).

Weight 235 on August 6, 2012, when I had the revision to the sleeve. Currently weigh 209, and couldn't be happier.

If you're considering the revision, don't hesitate! Get it done ASAP.

  2. NO. I would have the gastric bypass instead. Everyone I was in support groups pre-op who had the same amount of weight to lose as me (1 year ago) is already smaller than me. My weight loss has stopped and theirs has not. I may never be a normal BMI and they will or already are. Lots of regret....but on the flipside' date=' I was 233 and now I'm 145. Just not "normal" in the BMI yet.[/quote']

    That's not "normal"?!

    How tall are you, 3'6"?

Just kidding! Almost 90 pounds is great!

    Celebrate!!

  3. What do u think was worse. The sleeve surgery' date=' or gallbladder? I'm scheduled 9/11.I had my gallbladder out 3 years ago which was a breeze compared to my c-sections. Wondering if it's similar to the sleeve ?[/quote']

Had my gb out in February 2012, then sleeved last week.

    The sleeve was much worse.

  4. I don't understand the books. These things (sado-masochism) have been going on forever. Why the sudden interest now?

Has the book made S&M the topic of polite conversation? Can women whom have read these books honestly say any of this is new?

Or is it just acceptable "mommy porn" so that general readers can read it without concern that their friends will think they are "sick" or "perverted"?

Why be so worried about what others will think?

I sure miss the 70s! Of course I was only a kid, so...

How about we just do what we want with like-minded consenting adults and forget about what is "nice" or expected?

Besides, rumor has it there is much better porn out there!

  5. You are right to some extent. I am doing this for myself. They don't know the struggle I go through every day with my weight (I.e feeling terrible health wise' date=' back pain, no clothes that fit, depression, self consious etc). But I would like to feel supported during my journey because I know it is not an easy fix and will be hard physically and mentally. It just makes me second guess myself. I know the sleeve is right for me. I guess what is really holding me back from booking the op is fear.[/quote']

The one thing I will say is for you to trust in yourself. I believe the sleeve (as well as all WLS), are just as much mind exercises as physical ones. This is your chance to show your friends that you don't need them to tell you everything is okay. This is your chance to get to a place of self-reliance and self-sufficiency.

As someone who is 3 days post-sleeved, it's VERY hard, but not insurmountable.

  6. Lol- that's how i kinda felt at first' date=' and i challenge my patient care advocate. Turns out tnat 4 visits w a PHY and a NUT are what my insurance required. I'm ok w that because they are covering the whole thing. AND I feel really prepared for my surgeey on the 21st.[/quote']

    Ah, gotcha. Makes sense now.

  7. I am glad you all had positive feedback. My husband is the only one showing any support to me. My family and friends are all begging me not to get sleeved. It's making it extremely hard to make up my mind whether to proceed or not.

    What's so hard?

Are your doing this for you or your friends? If you're doing this for you, then it doesn't really matter what everyone else thinks, huh?

  8. I've gone back 4 times! The first one was all the tests. Then i came back to review the results and I've gone 2 more times. We just talk about stressors and what to watch out for that might try to trip me up. I really like going and hope to continue after my surgery. I know i'm going to need advice on how to deal with the fallout of friends & family.

This is ridiculous. Sounds like the therapist is just lining his/her pockets with your WLS money. Definitely see this person as you go through your WLS journey if you find the time useful, but I can't imagine why 4 sessions as the Eval are necessary.

  9. 35 BMI, getting sleeved tomorrow.

At my pre-op appointment today with my doctor, my wife (who doesn't want me to have surgery) went with me. As we were waiting in the lobby, another WLS patient asked my wife how long it had been since I had my surgery! After my wife quit laughing, she told the lady that my surgery is tomorrow.

The lady leaned over and whispered "Weight Watchers". :/

  10. Umm... what's wrong with the woman talking about being on Weight Watchers? Perhaps she wants to show people that healthy is an option and fatty foods shouldn't be apart of a regular routine. I talk about dieting and exercise A LOT at work and I do it to be encouraging not obnoxious. And frankly if people who are overweght (and I'm still one of them) are offended maybe they should look at themselves instead of putting th blame on someone else

You don't see her behavior as passive-aggressive against the other women?

  11. Dr naik. He's a great dr!

I'm glad you liked him. He did my lapband on 07 and never believed me when I told him it slipped 3 days later. He removed my gall bladder a few months ago and FINALLY confirmed that it had slipped.
