  1. I just got approved by Uhc about a month ago and I am having surgery may 10th. I was required to do a six month doctor supervised diet, towards the end of that I had to have a psyc eval. And of course all the normal stuff bmi over 40 or 35 with comorbs. I am 5'2 260lbs so I was well over 40 bmi. Once all the paper work was submitted it was about a week and a half.
  2. My surgery is may 10th also!!! Congrats and good luck to you
  3. You have a much better attitude than I do, did I mention I'm extremely crabby? Haha. Anything helping you get through it?
  4. My docs instructions are to do two shakes and on light meal like a lean cuisine or soup in any order. So yesterday I had my smart one meal for lunch
  5. Omg I'm on day three. Last night I thought I was gonna puke, pass out, and die... In that order. I have never wanted a grilled cheese so badly in my life (my son is sitting next to me eating one). This sucks!!!!!
  6. Gnc amp chocolate! So so good make it hot it tastes like hot chocolate mix it in the blend with ice and a little milk chocolate milkshake! The directions say three scoops I do two as a meal replacer two scoops have like 180 calories and 40g protein, they have a little sugar and carbs but nothing major
  7. Took about a week and a half for me I have united healthcare. I ended up calling and found out that way that I was approved
  8. My doc is very particular about which shakes I use he does not want me to use slim fast or anything like that because they don't have enough protien and they have too much fat, calories and sugar. He prefers tht I use a protien called chike.
  9. I havnt told alot of people but I have told my mom my sisters and my inlaws. From my mother who is a little overweight and has seen me struggle with my wieght she has been very supportive same with my sister. My sister in law who has always been thin it was kind of an awkward moment, she didn't say anything negative but wasn't terribly positive. Telling my thin mother in law was awkward but turns out she was very supportive. Seems like younger people have been the least supportive and the most likely to say something negative, like my little sister, I think they just don't get it yet.
  10. Here in Arkansas I noticed that we have a doctor advertising a self pay price of 10,000
  11. I was told no makeup jewelry or polish :/. . It is strange how much what different people are told varies. But I'm sure if your doc wanted them off they wouldnhave told you during your pre op appointment
  12. May 10th! Im so ready
  13. Gncs "advanced muscle performance" or amp for short in chocolate Is awesome! I mix it with hot water and it tastes just like sugar free hot chocolate! For one scoop it has less than 100 calories 2 carbs and 20 proteins. Something else that I like to do is take a vanilla protien mix with ice a little water and frozen no sugar added fruit in the blender, it's smoothie time! Another blender shake that I like is protien powder, ice, little coffee, some kind of sugar free creamer and Splenda yum yum. I just got some sugar free Carmel syrup that I am thinking of using instead of splenda or creamer
  14. That is what scares me the most! For one month during my supervised diet I really dieted and exercised, I lost ten lbs but I was falling apart emotionally! I had to go to the doctor and up my anti depressants, now I am thinking what am I going to do, this is the rest of my life I'm talking about!
  15. I also have UHc and my card says umr. I just finished with my 6 mo diet, during that Time I actually gained wieght for 3 months lost 10 in one month then gained about 7 back over the last two months. I also had to do a psyc eval. After te psyc eval my surgeons office submitted everything and I was approved in about a week. So I'm wondering if you were given some wrong info? Cause I didn't have to do anything as far as submitting paperwork. Good luck!
  16. Awesome! I think I will having surgery the week of may 8th but will set my date tommorow! Congrats, I hope you do great!
  17. Omg I know! I don't think you can know how difficult it is (unless you've experienced it) to move around a whole extra person! It's hard enough todo normal everyday stuff much less exercise!
  18. Oh yay I'm so glad to have someone else around here gong through this at the same time! Good luck to you! Thanks for your support manda, I need all that I can get! This is a major life change. I think that is what scares me.
  19. Hey y'all! I am getting my lapband in may and I am soo excited!!!! I have been o er wieght since I had my first child . I gained 70lbs with her! Ever since then I have dieted lost some only to gain back even more. So I have UHc, I had to do a 6 month diet. I actually gained and lost during that but ended up about ten lbs heavier than I was when I started. Now I've found out I'm approved! Im anxious to get this part of my life started, but also really scared. When I think of how I'm going to deal with my emotions without food it terrifies me. I am having my surgery in Jacksonville ar. And I will pick a date on Tuesday when I go in for teaching.
  20. Wow hope you get that worked out!
  21. I wonder if you somehow went out of network? I also have UHc but my plan covers at 80/20 after a 500 deductible. My insurance also covers different things at different rates like with our dental for example minor work is covered 80/20 but major is 50/50 so I wonder if something crasy like that is going on
  22. Awesome, I'm also in Arkansas! I just found out that I have been approved for surgery. I'll be having it in little rock best of luck to you
