  1. I wish I had something positive to add to this thread but I don't. I was on Effexor before surgery and since surgery everytime I try to take it I get so nauseous that I throw up. Right now I am completly off meds.
  2. Something else my doctor tells me is are you eating your one cup and staying satisfied for 4 hours. If not it is time for a fill. I am also very new to this and I am having a hard time knowin if I need a fill. One day I can't even finish a cup and it's plenty till my next meal other days I could eat two hours after licking my one cup container clean.
  3. I also get left shoulder pain if I have eaten way to much.
  4. I do a protein shake at least once a day, I am about to switch it to carnation instant breakfast shake. I am wondering which type of milk is best for you? And hows the taste of the alternative milks?
  5. I was also going to say protien shake during the day, in a dark colored cup so the kids Can think its water. Also maybe consider Doing chili or something else hearty but still easier to eat at lunch so you can actually get what you need in during your 22 minutes.
  6. I've lost 35 lbs and have to wear a smaller bra that I've had but didn't fit me, now it's my favorite. I also recently bought new under roos a size smaller because I noticed mine were so uncomfortable! I love having to wear anything a size smaller! I'd rather keep some boobs but I'm happy about wearing a smaller size anyway!
  7. Sounds like what happens to me when I eat to fast. Try taking longggg breaks between bites, no less than 30 seconds but probably closer to a minute. Also after you have an episode try easy foods for a while after, some say liquids.
  8. I am keeping my "before picture outfit" for this very reason!
  9. The barium doesn't bother me but I guess it's possible between the barium and all the trauma to your tummy to have a reaction. Hope you feel better soon!
  10. Ms Jess I too had my first full on Monday almost two weeks ago, I am just now really getting back on real foods. I attempted it before but was just having too many problems. So I went onto like a mushy/ full mushy diet. You may be like other who just take longer to adjust to a new fill.
  11. It will go down or come back up, it's ok, stay calm. Just give it a few minutes. Do not try to eat or drink anything until it passes
  12. That is amazing!!! Congrats to you.
  13. It was really cool! When y surgeon did it he had me lay down, numbed my port area, had me do a mini crunch to locate my port, stuck the needle in. Then had me sit up on the edge of the table. The machine had like an arm that extended to where I was sitting, he postitions the arm. Has me drink the icky white stuff, and watches it go down. You can see how fast or slowly the liquid goes through your band.
  14. You should be seeing some improvement by now. You may need a different or stronger antibiotic. Go get that looked at ASAP.
  15. It may be that they are concerned about transfer addiction. When you stop being able to turn to food you start looking for something else, and if you have drank in the past it could be alcohol, could also be shopping, hopefully it will be nothing! But they want you to understand addiction a little better in any case.
  16. Your going to know when your getting too full. I would say do what you can to estimate you one cup chewed. And the. Pay attention while your eating. And just stop when your satisfied, don't wait till your stuffed and you should be fine.
  17. Before my first fill I could eat sushi, I just ate about half of the rice. And I could not eat other rice that I made at home. It was just bout the only thing I would get stuck on pre fill, after about the third time getting stuck I gave it up!
  18. How far of a drive is it? My doc is about an hour and a half away, and I wouldn't trade him for someone closer. He and his office staff really put me at ease. That being said I am a student also and it would be easier to have a doc closer to my school. Right now when I need a fill or checkup I will pretty much have to miss a whole day of school, that's no good! But I'm not changing.
  19. I am also still really early on, just got my first fill. I have to say I remmber that feeling of not even thinking about food lasting for a while then fading. Then I got my fill and it reminds me alot of that same feeling, I have a love/ hate relationship. It's hard when your best friend is taken away! But I mostly love it because of my best friend being taken away it means more healthy, entergetic days I get to spend with my family!! And I love your positive attitude!!
  20. A pencil eraser?! Wow that's tiny. I am Begining to wonder if I am already pretty close to the green zone. I can not finish a cup of food, And i stay full for hours after. That would be nice, green zone at 2.6 ccs.
  21. I would defiantly research bypass alot before I made that decision. I wonder if lapband with plication is an option, or maybe the vertical sleeve, heard that they are both very effective. If niether of those is an option and you comfortable with bypass I say go for it. Lots of people have had alot of success with bypass.
  22. Sounds like a total jerk to me. I don't see why doctors think its their decision if you should be able to get to your green zone or not. The doctors opinion on weather or not your eating perfect all the time or exercising every day should not effect whether or not you get to the green zone! For crying out loud a fill is not the doctors gift to you, getting a fill is part of the process of having a lap band. If the doctor doesn't like that process then he shouldn't do lap bands. Grr it makes me mad when I hear about this attitude that some lapband patients are getting from thier doctors!!
  23. Maybe he could do a fill under flouro? Idk I would Talk to him about it for sure though
  24. Everyone's body reacts differently. But I think it is unusual that you don't have any restriction. Can you tell any difference from fill to fill? Like not able to eat as much, getting stuck on things you didn't have problems with before?
