    I Made It!!

Hi Deb, Me too! Hi everyone Glad to be in a group with my fellow May banders... I am May 18th Who besides shy is my surgery twin?
  3. Hey fellow banders, I am addicted to Starbucks and having to give them up was very sad to me. I know I can modify and stuff but I must admit I was sad about giving up my Iced caramel Macchiato's. Until today I found...... Atkins advantage Cafe Caramel shakes! Whoot- Whoot! It has 15 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar and 160 calories! I am in iced coffee nirvana! thought I would share. They also have a mocha Latte for variety. Found them at Wal-mart and best part is 5.79 for a 4 pack so I will save some cash too! Hope this will help all of us stay on the right path, get the protein we need and not miss the tastes we have gotten to love!

    Why

I decided to get the surgery because: I need to be around for my sons (their Dad died on Christmas Eve 2011) and at 16 and 24 I am the only biological parent left. I don't want to end up with diabetes I want to feel good when I see myself in a mirror. I don't ever want to hear another person say "you have such a pretty face if you just lost a bit of weight" I also don't want anyone to call me a "big girl or plus size" again. I hate the word "plus size" who thought of that? I want to go up the stairs and not get winded. My cardio health sucks! I want my husband to be able to pick me up and carry me over the threshold for our 2nd anniversary next April. (he couldn't do it on our wedding night) Maybe he needs to start weight lifting anyways! LOL I want to be called skinny before I die! I most of all I really want to look on the outside how I feel on the inside!

    Anyone Have Lipo Suction?

Hi there, I had lipo in 2006 and breast implants. I am 5' 3" and at the time I was 160. I had about the equivalent of a 2ltr bottle of soda of fat removed from my flanks and abdomen. It was very intense and the most amount he could remove from me. Here I am 2012 getting ready for the lap band at 185lbs. I don't have a lot of back fat so that worked good on the back and my flanks but the belly fat is still there. The fat cells they remove don't come back but others can increase and take their place. My Doctor said that I have good elasticity and I didn't have a lot of loose skin so he didn't recommend I do the tummy tuck. I think its a personal preference. In my case I would have gained elsewhere. I am hopeful that after getting banded and losing weight I might not need anything else. If so I don't know if I would do the lipo again as it was VERY uncomfortable for me. I was off 10 days and then went to 1/2 days for a week and it truly took me 12 weeks to feel "normal" again. Lots of swelling and bruising. I have two friends who did the tuck at the same time I did lipo and they Love it and still look great! however it is a lot more money and more recovery. I would love to know about the cool lipo. Good luck

    May Bandsters!

I am using them for on the go. My husband has used them for some time as a meal replacement. He is a diabetic and they are the best for him. I have tried the chocolate. My favorite is the Mocha Latte.. very yummy. I am going to buy the unjury for at home and use the atkins for my work/office meals. I am in field sales so I am always on the run and for this to work for me I need to be able to pack it to go. I know that this is a huge reason for my weight. I am a fast food junkie. I eat to much on the run of the wrong stuff. Not anymore. I have already started to watch my diet a lot. I don't start liquids till 5/4. My doctor says I can have as many protein shakes a day that I want and soup broth. NO fruit, Veggies, or carbs. I can also have a lean chicken breast or fish no skin or major seasonings. From what my nutritional specialist says my Dr. doesn't count the calories at this point he is more concerned about liquids and proteins getting in. I still don't think it will be easy. I am sure I will be craving all my old favorite foods! hang in there everyone I am not far behind you.

    May Bandsters!

Hang in there I think people say that a lot because as I have read in other posts no one wants to be the the big friend. Only you know what you want and need. Don't let it get you down. You are going to do great keep thinking positive.

    May Bandsters!

Happy Weekend May bandsters! I start my liquid diet on Friday. (5/4). I am scheduled for May 18th for my surgery. I have PCOS so I have been struggling for a long time to loose the 60lbs that I carry with me all the time. I am ordering my unjury powder today. Hope everyone is staying positive and hanging in there. Who else is a May 18th surgery date?

    Pre-Surgery Freakout!!

I am having surgery on May 18th. I am a bit scared too. Have you ever had surgery before? I know the first time I was put under was when I was 28 for Oral surgery and I was crazy scared because of what people told me. I made it through that and two other surgeries that required me to be under. I don't know why some people feel the need to scare people. Take a breath and remember if you keep the weight on you the odds of you having bad health issues is far higher than the odds of you having the surgery complications you fear. Please add me and message me if you need support. You can do this. You have obviously researched and found a doctor you feel comfortable with. Hang in there we are here for you.

    May Bandsters!

I am a May bander as well.... May 18th is my day! So excited to meet others and have the group support. So it appears the the unjury is THE powder to get? I don't start my liquid diet till the 4th of May (coming up soon). Good luck everyone looking forward to hearing how it goes for everyone.
  20. I am no expert however, I know that hair is protein and I know someone who is vegetarian who wears wigs due to her hair loss. Lack of protein in her diet was said to be the cause. I am not banded yet but I am worried about this happening. Have you talked to your Dr? I hope you get an answer and can get it under control! Congratulations on the 47lbs!!!!
  21. Hi there, Great question. I was wondering about the girls too... Mine are add on's and I am afraid I might have to go back in for an adjustment there. If I hit my goal I will look like a toothpick with olives on top! Its good to know you have a good support system. I do too. My husband is great and loved me fat so I know he will be happy to be with me healthy and more confident. I am getting banded on May 18th. Keep us posted and good luck! See you on the other side:)
  22. LOL... Me too! I have told very few people. I told work the hernia information which is true . I am afraid of the "diet police" and failure. I told one of my friends who said your to small for that. Really? Im 5'3" and my bmi is 33. I have a solid 60lbs to loose. That doesn't make me small in my book! I do feel bad to think I can't loose the 60 on my own. However I now realize that my PCOS is a HUGE reason for my issues. Counting the days till May 18th and my new love affair with myself! Best of luck to all and thank you for sharing this. Its so comforting to know I am not the only one feeling this way! '

    Banded April 20, 2012

Hi Everyone, I am so glad to read this post. I am so scared of going under. I have had 3 previous surgeries, (oral for wisdom teeth, cosmetic and female issue surgery) so it isn't my first time but, I am really worried about "not waking up:". I am glad to hear the pain is a 4-5 as I was so worried it would be a 10.75! Looking forward to hearing how you all do in the weeks ahead.
