    Ready to get started

Oh the day my back doesn't hurt!
  2. I start my insurance required weight loss program in 2 weeks. My insurance requires a 3 month weight management. I'm so ready to finally get started doing something! We recently moved into a house, I took it upon myself to mow the lawn today, good lord! I thought I would die! Sad part is the yard is very small... My legs felt like Jello and my thighs also felt like they where on fire when I got done. I had to stop several times to catch my breath. I was breathing so hard my throat was on fire, felt like it was burning as I sucked air in and out! I'm so tired of being this out of shape and everyday task hurting. Really to get moving to my new lease on life! Have a great weekend everyone!
  3. I'm sorry to hear your in such a low spot! Can you reach out to your surgery center to see about joining a support group or a buddy in your area? Or talking to a therepist? You need to get some help, remember why you did this in the first place. What are you eating? Are you getting in any exercise each day, tell us more about you and your situation so others can jump in with sugguestions. Take Care!
  4. I've been told that Cigna requires a 2 year weight history, a 5 year weight history (by doctors offices and WLS patients) however I contacted Cigna and they state that is not required. I also looked up their policy and requirements for WLS and nowhere does it say a past weight history is required. I've been at my current weight for almost 2 years. Any insight?
  5. WOW, good for you! I hope am as lucky as you, coming home in just two days is wonderful! Good Luck!
  6. I'm going for my first appointment today also! You are making the right decision! We can do this together! Good Luck
  7. My first appointment (consultation) was supposed to be on August 28th, however the hospital called this morning and I go on Friday! Now I'm really nervous for some reason. Anything I should be sure to asked about during this first visit? Thanks!

    Question about neuropothy

Do you have diabetes by chance? I do and I have some of those same symptoms happening and was wondering the same thing.
  9. So I visited the library Saturday and picked up a few books on RNY. The first one I'm reading talks about the dumping and loss of appetite go away after a while....Is that not the major points as to what makes the surgery work for people? One reason I'm choosing this is for those very reasons, I need something to help keep me in control. Any veterans wanna chime in?
  10. So.....I never thought I had sleep apnea, however, now I think I might. I understand the the center I'm using will have me tested for that, however I wondering if that's what's been wrong with me for so long? I snore. I have not felt rested after sleeping 8-9 hrs a night in EVER! I can't focus at work, it's really starting to be an issue, I go from one thought to the next and back again. I feel as though I'm drugging through the day while having an out of body experience, does that make sense? I could close my eyes at anytime on any day, because I feel so sleepy. I never really though about this until a friend who is having the surgery, mentioned her sleep apnea to me.... It will be interesting to see what the sleep study says!

    Sleep Apnea?

I'm pre-op. Sounds like this a very common condition. I honestly don't know how I'll feel about sleeping with a mask on....that kinda freaks me out....

    Sleep Apnea?

That's crazy! I would have never thought all this could happen to me just from snoring! I do wake up with a headache just about everyday, some days it last all day long! thanks for the replies!
  13. Trust me (I have type II diabetes) you are doing the RIGHT thing!
  14. WOW, I'm really sorry too that this happened to you. I'm thankful that my closest friends are very supportive, my sister on the other hand is very backward thinking and doesn't research or read about anything so she is really ignorant about the subject, I've not told her that I have a consult in a few weeks, but when I brought up the idea to her, she went off. "You are not fat enough to have that surgery" WHAT? It's not a matter of being "fat" enough its a matter of being extremely unhealthy and having diseases that can kill us and the damage the extra weight is doing to our bodies. You are doing what's right for you:) Keep your chin up you don't need friends like that! We are here for you. Good Luck
  15. I faxed in my paperwork yesterday, sheet said they'd call within 2 weeks, they called within 2 hours! When I saw the name on the caller ID, I panicked I thought they were calling to say I didn't qualify! As my BMI is right on the line, but instead she wanted to schedule my first appointment:) I go on August 28th! Now I'm nervous, praying I don't lose one pound in the next 4 weeks! (Sad to say that but I can't afford to lose any weight right now). Just going to spend the next few weeks, reading as much as I can about this entire process, I'm sure I will have lots of questions to post! Nasty Diabetes I'm going to kick your butt! Stay tuned for progress.......

    Success Story Pictures

    You look amazing!!!
  18. Thanks for the info, so in a nut shell--if I do what I'm suppose to do it will continue to hold my weight down, once I lose what I need too?
  19. I've been sitting here for a couple of hours filling out all the paperwork they sent me! I even had to write a statement as to why I want the surgery. I'll say they are very thorough. Just so darn happy to actually be getting started!

    weight gain

He didn't say because you lost to much, just that often folks will lose a bit more then they need to and go up and down a bit before they find the right stopping spot:)

    weight gain

During my seminar the dr said, people tend to lose a little more than they need to and then gain back a little bit, before they even out:)

    RnY on Low BMI?

Hello! You are at a 33 BMI and they approved you? Wow, normally you have to be a 35 before they will consider you. I am right at 35 and have a few issues, one being GERD and diabetes. I have about 65-70lbs to lose. I'm just starting out. What insurance company do you have?
  23. I love everyone's input on this post! Very inspiring! I look forward to following everyones progress!
