  1. I've not formally measured myself, but I can certainly tell my jeans are baggy and my bra! My hubby says, I feel "gushy" I guess that's a good thing, LOL. I have some dress pants I want to try on to see if they fit yet (old ones but still in great condition) This is week 3 post op for me, I've not really lost anything this week, but I was expecting that:) I only need to lose 3lbs to get to onederland!!! Haven't seen that in sometime!
  2. Today is my 3 week surgiversary! I'm getting in 75 + grams of Protein a day, however I've got zero energy. It's all I can do to get a shower and get back to the couch. I am off work one more week after this one, I need some ideas one getting my stamina back.....
  3. JCP, I would LOVE to have an egg! My dr. still has me on the liquid/pureeds for another week! I'm dying! LOL....I have been hungry the past couple of days, I think I need some more solid foods to stop that cycle.
  4. Thanks everyone, I guess it just takes time!

    1 week post op

I'm 3 weeks out today and I'm exhusted! I'm going to count up my calories as JamieLogical, as she suggested on my other post. I could sleep all day if I would let myself do that.
  6. I just had the sleeve on Sept 10th. I am the worst decision maker known to man! I researched all procedures for almost 3 years!! I was literally one week from my surgery date and still had not completely made up my mind. I have a lot of health issues including diabetes, which the RNY is known to be great for, however at the end of the day, I made a last minute appointment with my surgeon and discussed all my options one more time, with her input I finally landed on the sleeve. For me, I wanted to keep everything where they were, the sleeve had about the same success rate 2 years out from surgery, plus the recovery was shorter. To be honest I had doubts as they rolled me into the operating room. But 2 weeks later and I'm glad I did it. I'm learning to eat an entire new way, I'm losing weight and I know I did the right thing. Good Luck

    Sense of smell got stronger!

Me too!! Omgosh, I thought I was nuts! It's like now I'm a super smeller! Things that I used to love to smell, make me sick and stinky stuff stinks way more now than it did before surgery!

    Post-Op regrets?

I had gastric sleeve on Sept 10th. I have had the "what the hell did I do this for moment" a few times. However....it does get better. First are hard, for example the first time my family ordered pizza...or the day my daughter made brownies. Lots of self talk and reminding myself why I did this.....now almost 2 weeks out and I'm starting to get more used to the new me, it is getting easier. I'm sure there be more moments like this, but I'm learning to work through them. Good Luck

  11. That's great! I'm just 8 days post op today!
  12. I have suffered with annual fissures due to constipation....even had 2 surgeries because of them...for me Mirilax EVERYDAY no matter what and Water, water, water. A friend of mine was in the hospital with something and they would not let her leave until she went #2 the nurse came back with a cup of warmed prune juice--it worked so well she almost didn't make it to the bathroom--the nurse said "I've been a nurse for 40 years and nothing works better"....Sounds gross but when you are in pain you do what you have to do....Good Luck
  13. The sleeve won.. Had surgery on Wednesday...I'm actually doing pretty good--lots of back pain...but getting though it

    4 days post op!

How are you doing? I'm doing extremely well....I'm suprising myself.
  15. So for over 2 years now, I've been back and forth between lapband and bypass. Now I am 4 weeks away from being done with all my pre-surgery requirements and I STILL can't make my mind up which surgery I want to have. I've read books, websites, internet forums and I can't make my mind up. What is wrong with me? I have diabetes, so bypass seems best for that, but I'm not sure I want my body parts rearranged. I think lapband because if you later gain some weight you can have it filled again and get back on track, where a bypass if you stretch your pouch you are just out of luck (or so it seems), please don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to "gain" anything back, but keeping it real I've read many stories of folks who eat the wrong things and gain. I'm just saying that if that were to happen I would think the lapband would make sense. Then there is the issue of time off work, I don't have much time to be off and with lapband seems like a faster back to work time. But then I go back and I'm still thinking about my diabetes....see what I mean, this is my head everyday all day long! If I could hear perhaps from some diabetics that the band has helped that might help me with my decision. I'm getting down to the wire! Please help
  16. Well, I am 10 days until surgery....however that 10 days until VSG surgery, and I don't think I can do it. I waivered back and forth between the band and VSG or almost a year, finally decided on the sleeve, but now I think (I'm pretty sure) I've made the wrong decision. What do I do? Has this happened to anyone? I'm assuming I can call my clinic on Tuesday and tell them I've had a change of heart. But I'm assuming it will need to be resubmitted to my insurance as well.....I just think the sleeve is to drastic. I don't know....maybe I'm just a nut case! I met with the surgeon on Thursday last week and after she explained it all to me (of course I've read, watched videos, etc) but after she talked to me, I started getting this sinking feeling and it's just gotten worse over the weekend. Anyone words of wisdom? I could really use some right now.

    Changing my mind......

Thanks! I've researched the band probably more than the sleeve. My clinic doesn't do plication. I do feel like I just need some help controlling my intake. I think that I've let friends influence me, with "the band doesn't work" "you have to get fills" etc. But honestly, it is my decision and I have to do what's best for me. If I get the band and it doesn't work out, then I still have other options and all my body parts, but I think I'd like to start with the safest procedure and give it my best shot.

    sept 10th sleever

I started last week at 229 (and I'm also 5'6) I have 4 whey Protein shakes a day, one small piece of fruit, a salad and a meal of 250 calories/30 or less carbs for dinner. I had been walking, however I'm a diabetic on insulin and with such reduced carb intake my blood sugar have been going very low, so I've stopped walking until I see the Dr on Thursday, so they can make adjustments to my insulin intake. I'm also drinking a ton of Water.

Pre Op Diet - Day 3

I think it depends on how much you weigh and other health conditions you might have. It's been ok so far, for the most part but it's only been 6 days for me....lots more days to go...2 more weekends to gt through....I meet with the surgeon this week, I wish when I went in they would say, let's do it next week! But I'm sure that won't happen, Sept 10th is my day! If all I could have was 3 shakes, I really don't think I'd make it:) Stay strong!

Pre Op Diet - Day 3

How much Protein are you getting in? Shoot for 100 grams a day, make sure it's whey protein, hits your belly like a brick. Also if you don't like the flavor add a few packets of splenda, I use the Walmart brand Pure Whey Protein, chocolate. Also make sure its super cold (add ice) makes it more like a foamy shake... Green leafy salads with low carb veggies, with low cal dressing, one small fruit a day, and one "meal" for dinner.... DRINK Water and tons of it, 64oz +. My pre-op looks like this: Breakfast - Whey Protein Shake 25 grams protein (no more than 10g sugar) mine only has 4 grams Morning snack - small piece of fruit Lunch- Green Leafy salad, with another Whey protein shake Afternoon snack-Whey protein shake Dinner- frozen meal, no more than 250 calories and no more than 30 carbs Bedtime, Whey protein shake. I try to not start eating until about 10am. I go to bed between 10:30 -11pm. I space my meals out about 2-3 hours, then I can eat right up until bedtime... Good Luck!
  22. So happy today, after a year and a half....I finally got the call this morning that I've been approved!!!! It just suddenly got real! I don't have my surgery date yet waiting on the scheduler to call me.....but so happy!
  23. YIKES, I'm glad I don't like watermelon...that does not sound like fun. Glad your ok!

    Finding it hard to believe.

Good for you!!! That's great that your surgery went so well and wow you are walking for 1-1.5 hours a day? that's really great! I have surgery coming up in September, however I do know they make "tasteless" Protein Powder that many of my friends have used, they say you can put in/on anything even your Water. Maybe give that a try.
  25. Thanks everyone!!! My surgery date is Sept 10th! I have to do the liver shrink for 3 weeks (not looking forward to that, but I know it for my own safety)
