  1. Hello there, I had my vsg January 24, 2012. I paid cash for my surgery which makes this even worse for me. I find I am getting back into old habits. I am eating so much junk it's not funny. I started at 219 and got down to 173. I went from a size 18 almost 20 to a size 12-14. By some miricle, I am still able to fit into this size. I may have gained about 7 or 8 pounds though. I don't exercise like I should. I have started walking more recently.

I am so disgusted with myself. I would have probably gained everything back if it weren't for I don't have room to put it. On a regular day, I was eating a box of chocolates, a bag of nuts, or some sort of sweet and also maybe a bag of Cheetos. I made up my mind last week to lay off the sweets. I bought fruit yesterday and a bag of Cheetos. I have been eating the fruit and the Cheetos lasted 2 days.

I paid good money for this surgery and can't believe I'm throwing it away like this. I travel a great deal for my job and right now I am in a hotel room with a small refrigerator and a microwave. So I can't do alot of healthy food shopping if I have to refrigerate it. I will be here for a few months so it's hard to grocery shop. I need some sort of encouragement and a kick in the butt. I would still like to lose about 25-30 pounds. Somehow I need to start this thing over. Any suggestions?

  2. I had the same problem with Protein drinks at first. To me, they mostly all came in chocolate and was too thick and I used to get nauseated. I went on this site and wrote the names of various shakes suggested and went to testing them. I found Premium, bought at Sams Club was a good one. Not too thick and not too sweet. Like chocolate milk almost. I wish I could find it in other flavors. Also, GNC has strawberry shakes in GNC brand which is good. Not thick and not too sweet & they come in vanilla, and chocolate. You can sample them in the store. I wasn't too crazy about the vanilla but your taste might be different than my taste. Good luck.

  3. I had my surgery 01/24/2012. I still find ways to eat my greens. I love chicken and have not had any fried foods since my surgery and don't plan to at the moment. I have not had any sweets either and I love sweets. I love seafood and I eat the cooked shrimp from Walmart in the frozen food section as it has 20 gms of Protein. I eat Greek yogurt every day, it has 10-15 gms of protein. I don't think I was getting enough protein so I have a shake first thing in the morning and in the evening also.

I still cannot eat alot. My husband LOVES for us to cook together and eat together. He is having a hard time with my eating and he is concerned. (I'm starting to think he likes thick women).

My hair used to be very thick but due to medications before my surgery, my hair has thinned very much. I'm taking 5000 mcg of Biotin daily to prevent further loss. I hope it grows back. I bought 2 wigs over the weekend because it looks like I'm balding in spots.

I hope this topic continues with also perhaps older African American women also.

  4. I am in the 2nd week of a stall now. I have a friend who had the surgery and she told me it was going to happen and don't get discouraged. She said after she lost about 30 pounds she felt like she was stalling forever but when she came out of it she lost about 20 pounds without issue.

  5. I hear more talk about all the weight people lost than who is not losing. I had the surgery Jan 24, 2012 and I don't regret. I have received more positive encouragement. You must look at the positive and not dwell on some of the negitive. If you want more encouragement look at YouTube under vertical gastric sleeve. You get to hear and see results!

  6. There is another topic regarding this going on. My pain in on my left side but sometimes I feel it in my back. What most of the people on the other topic said was their physicians thought they might be over doing it. I walked alot last Friday and Saturday, I could hardly stand up and it hurt to breathe. That's when I came across the topic. Since, I have used a heat patch, stayed off of the stairs and have been taking it easier...And, I do feel better.

I had the pain before and it was much worse. Then I was pain free for a week and then did all that walking and it came back but milder.
