  1. So today I went saw my bariatrics nut , she said I've lost 53 pounds in 6 weeks. I thought I was doing great. She was concerned. She ask what I was eating I told her I eat about 3 spoonfuls at a time. I am at about 600 calories per day. She said to bump it up to 1000 cals per day. Also gave an ekg to make sure ticker working good. I am jog 3 miles everymorning and hitting gym after work. I thought I was doing great . But she says if I work out hard I need to feed my body better. Makes sense , she said eat smart not small. I was sleeved on 4/20 and have lost 123 since Nov . 68 pre-op

  2. alovio thanks that makes me feel a lot better seeing your success. question did you lose your 10 percent and if not did he trip on you about the surgery

gettinhealth i will keep you posted. do you have dr zelda also

YES I DID LOOSE MY 10 % , i ACTUALLY WANTED GATRIC BYPASS BUT DR Z TALKED ME OUT OF IT, HE IS AN AWSOME DR. i TOO WAS VERY SCARED OF GOING UNDER, I HAVE NEVER BEEN UNDER. bUT i CLOSED MY EYES NEXT THING I WAS BACK. yOU LADIES HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT IT WAS NOWHERE AS BAD AS I EXPECTED. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

  3. I too was scared about the surgery aspect, I started at 458 back in nov. I was sleeved on 4/20 weighed u=in at 390. Today I am at 351 moving along well. the surgery was nowhere as bad as I thought it would be. Most painful partwas imediatley after you wake from surgery. But then they put you on a pain pump and everything is well after. Few days about 4 you'll feel some abdominal pain, the pain is like when you use too do a ab workout and you were sore. You can do this. Biggest adjustment is the eating a few bites and i am full, I still have that fat guy mentality but I can not consume nowhere the same amount of food as before. Figuring out when your full is the hardest so you wont over eat. hands down best thing I ever done for myself. loosing ten pant sizes and 2 shirt sizes makes me feel like a new man. Good luck , and remember walk , walk , and more walk. :)

  4. LOL. Thats so funny because I'm scheduled for surgery tomorrow and im tempted to eat one more meal before taking the dive. I've been on clear liquids now for 4 days and I can barely see straight.

might be too late for last meal if your getting operated tomarrow, but i went and hit all my favorite spots week up to my surgery. 24 hours before my surgery I went to favorite burger spot. but good luck tomarrow.

  5. Im 4 weeks out and it seems that chicken and fish is all I can eat. I have found it very hard to stay on pureed stuff but I did make some chicken, added a little broth and blended and noticed it did go down much easier for me. Talapia I had no problem with at all. How much are you eating at 5 weeks out?

not really much, tops a 1/2 cup of anything. Anymore than that makes me feel like when i use to go to buffets. But your right mushie foods are much easier. Havent tried fish yet. I think my biggest problem is knowing when I am full.

  6. I am about 5 weeks post op. I am starting to try different foods. But chicken that i use love so much doesnt sit with me well anymore I have tried it different ways and each time it makes me throw up. Does anyone else have this problem. Eating is really becoming a chore. On the brighter side I am loosing weight just sometimes I smell something and want some but I know I cannot handle that any longer. I guess I'll just stick to protien shakes and cottage cheese.

  7. So today is my one month post op, I was sleeved on 5/20. First let me throw some numbers at you. 6 months ago I wieghted in at 458. I lost 68 pounds getting ready for surgery, mostley by calorie counting. on 4/20 I was sleeved my weight was 390. Today I am weighting 358, lost 32 pounds in first month. First of all I have been pushing myself. In the morning before work I walk/jog 3.5 miles before work. And then after work I try and do 1 hour of cardio. So far its worked for me. When i started this journey I was wearing a size 58 pants, today my friends that also had sleave gave me some hand-me-downs to wear because my clothes are getting baggy. I couldnt beleave a size 48 fit me good. WOW!!! Made my day, starting to really like the way I look again and i feel 100 times better than last year at this time. Really excited about the future in a really long time. Just feeling grateful and happy, havent had that feeling in a long time. Just to give you a sample of what i eat , never more than 1/2 cup of food. And beleave me I have gotten sick my share of times. I Am I have 1/3 cup of egg whites with a slice of ham. mid morning I have my premier shake. for lunch usally a Soup or a 1/2 cup of Beans. then next few hours I take down Isopure drink. then after gym I make myself a shake with frozen fruit and frozen veggies with whey powder Protein. I think key to my success is the walking and cardio. I am walking/jogging about 15 miles a week. I havent jogged in 15 years. It amazes me that i can jog. Life is good. Everyone good luck dont mean to brag but hopefully motivate. Walking is the key people. I feel like the weight of a teenager is off my back :)

  8. WE WERE SLEEVED SAME DAY, I HAVE LOST 20 POUNDS SO FAR. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS I AM WALKING 3.4 MILES IN MORNING BEFORE WORK. AND THEN AFTER WORK I DO AN HOUR OF CARDIO AT GYM. I HAVE ABOUT 2 OUNCES OF EGG WHITES FOR Breakfast AND A PREMIER shake FOR MID MORNING (30G PROTIEN) FOR lunch USALLY A Soup. TEH I DRINK A Isopure ZEROCARB DRINK (40G PROTIEN) TAKES ME ABOUT 2 HOURS TO DRINK. AFTER GYM I GO HOME AND MAKE MYSELF A PROTIEN SHAKE WITH fruit AND FROZEN VEGIES. REALLY NEVER HUNGRY, MY BIGGEST PROBLEM IS KNOWING WHEN I AM FULL. GOOD LUCK WALK MORE THATS MY BEST ADVICE

  9. Al, I see that you're a barber. My mom was a barber (not hairstylist!) for 27 years so I already have a soft spot for you. So when are you going to change the name of your shop from Big Al's to Slim Al's? :)

ha ha, do you know how many customers tell me same thing. i tell themthat the big is not for my waist line but for size of my heart. thats so awsome your mom was a barber , my daughter is also a really good barber. thanks agai i will add you as a friend

  10. Congratulations 65 lbs is more than some people lose with surgery, give yourself a little butt pat,way to go kid.For me the sleeve has been the tool to keep motivated, after the mind gives in the stomach can't really follow. The single best thing I have ever done for myself ! I did notice a beer in your hand in your profile picture, you would serve yourself well to research alcohol use post surgery(beer is a carbonated beverage),honestly ask if you are ready to put that on hold for a year.If so ,RUN don't walk and get yourself a sleeve.

ha ha.....noticed that beer thats actually a before pic sometime last year. Although I havetried a beer didnt work foamed up in my sleeve so i have given up alchol for a while. But you right its the single best thing I have ever done for myself. No regrets. I would recommend this to anyone who has had issues with wieght problems. :)

  11. i lost 65 lbs getting ready for surgery. like you i had second thought considering i lost 65 maybe i could continue loosing and do it on my own. But i have been overwieght most of my life and had'nt done it yet. Always going up loosing 50lbs then gaining back 60. I am only 1 month post op but have absolutley no regrets it is a big change you WIL NOT be able to eat same amounts of food. you will be amazed how fast you will be full. The hardest thing for me so far is knowing when i am full, usally too late. in my mine i am still that fat guy overfilling my plate. But I am down 32 lbs since April 20. I am starting to like the way I look again. The pain was only about 10 % of what i expected. So have no regrets you can do this you will love what you look and feel. Good luck
