  1. That is amazing! How much did you lose pre op?
  2. I took a month off. I was good to go by a week and a half but I took the extra time to get used to my new diet and to set up a routine. My advice is to take as much time as you can up front. You can all ways go back early if you are up to it!
  3. Welcome to the other side Patrick!
  4. Great question. I'm anxious to hear the responses although I think I have been dieting for so long that 1000 to 1200 calories a day sound enormous to me.
  5. I had this happen for about two weeks. It was so weird. I would just get up and drink a half of a protien shake and it would go away. It happened maybe twice a night. I does go away. I really struggled with getting in my protein and water so I think that had a lot to do with it. My body just needed that to help it recover.
  6. Yeah! That's awesome. Keep It going.
  7. Me too. I'm at day 30 and have not list a pound since day 16.
  8. I felt the same thing. I was so caught off guard by the pain and discomfort post surgery. I've had two laparoscopic surgeries in the past and for some reason didn't think this one would be as serious. (I actually ran into my surgeon once at the grocery store two days post op and was thoroughly scolded for being on bed rest still. What a wonderful thing Vicodin is!) However, at a month out I know I made the right decision. I needed help with weight loss and assistance with making better food decisions. I got over the pain pretty quickly and the energy comes back once you get your Vitamins and Water in. The hardest thing for a lot of us is delayed gratification because food gave us instant gratification and now it is such a process. Work through it with support and look forward to your goal.
  9. I'm a month out and just used my handy little bmi calculater and found that I no longer classify as morbidly obese. I'm still "severely obese" but I love that the morbid no longer applies. It is such a demeaning and discouraging word. I've got 95 pounds to go and am in the middle of a stall (two weeks and counting) but I know the weight will come off. Congrats to everyone in the green and yellow zones. Best wishes to those of us in the orange and red zones! We will get there.
  10. Congrats! That is very exciting. I remember that feeling.
  11. I liked muscle milk. It is a both thick but good. They also have a muscle milk light but I have not tried that one. They are lactose free and contain no milk. I suggest going to gnc or vitamin shoppe and buying several single protien shakes to see which you like before committing to one however. It will save you money in the long run.
  12. Tomorrow I will be one month post-op and I am returning to work. I really miss work and didn't plan on staying out an entire month but so needed the time to be used to the new eating/water/vitamin schedule. It's a lot to get used to. I still struggle with getting in my protein and liquids and worry that going back to work is going to make it worse. FYI-I am lactose intolerant since surgery so most of the shakes don't work. I did find some that are lactose free that are pretty tasty but need other options. Any ideas?
  13. Welcome! I live downtown Chicago. I'm 3 weeks out and in the middle of my first stall. Because of this forum, I know not to freak out and just stay on track. There is so much knowledge here so you are in the right place!!
  14. Are you drinking dairy-based proteins? I became lactose intolerant after the surgery as a lot is sleevers. Consider that too!
  15. I was sleeved on may 30th so almost three weeks ago. I have no pain. I was bent over for maybe a week but have had no pain since. I live alone so no challenges with cooking for others. I advanced my diet quickly too but I am not saying you should. I moved to puréed at week 2.5. I just could not do more liquids. I still struggle with getting in all my liquids and proteins but do better each day. It gets better each day! Hang in there.
  16. So I'm 2.5 weeks post op and don't return to work for another week and a half. I'm having coffee with my boss on Friday just to check in (I really like her). I decided before I go out to eat anywhere, I will check the menu online first so I know what I am going to order and I don't have to take all day counting calories and looking for the best protien options. It's a great time saver because I have always been the one that takes forever to figure out what I want to order. Anyway, I notice that my daily latte was 580 calories! Wow! One drink was almost the total amount of calories that I consume in a day now. I am so disgusted! Anyone else find crazy calorie amounts from their old favorites?
  17. I second the lactose intolerance. Immediately post surgery I could no longer take milk. It made me bloat and feel so tight and gassy. Never got the diarrhea but learned very early on the stay away from it.
  18. This is very helpful. I had both of my ovaries removed due to cysts and don't get periods at all, unless I take birth control pills (for the hormones). Well I decided I liked not getting periods so I stopped taking the birth control pills months ago and hadn't had a period in about 7-8 months. Then I started to get cramps a week post-op and had my period for a week! I didn't even have a period for a whole week when I had two good ovaries. I hate it!
