  1. I really want to do yoga, but I am so weak in strength. I find even the beginner yoga stuff is too hard for me.

I am a member to my yoga online, but am struggling to find a really easy beginner beginner workout.

Perhaps more experiences yogis can provide some tips, that our newbies, like me, can look for when selecting a yoga workout.

I am determined and would hate to get discouraged.

Also, what are your thoughts on workout length? I wanted to start short, about 20 minutes, but that too is hard to find.

  2. Hey guys and gals!

I am sick of just listening to music on my workouts and have decided to branch out into podcasts. What a horribly overwhelmingly crazy thought! The eos so much out there, I have no idea where to start.

I am trying to find something that focuses on fitness and is funny.

What do you listen to? Any suggestions for a complete podcast newbie?

  3. It is so great to see everyone finding a new norm. In the past is was so easy to make excuses to not exercise, but it seems like we all realize how Importabt it is and it seems like we are making a conscious effort to improve that aspect of our lives.

It is so hard to change the old habits, but it is great to see everyone has made that effort to improve themselves. We didn't do this for nothing right? So many people regain weight afterwards, I am going to try my best to avoid that!

Keep up the great work <3

  4. I too have wondered about this. I am not really sure why it is done, or WHY I would want to do it. (Not being judgemental, just stating that this intrigues me, and I would love to hear from people as to why they did it.)

I am losing slow, but I often hear people using this tool to get back to the basics to gain control over their eating again.

My issue, as to why it may not help me, is

I do have an extremely healthy diet and follow a lot if not all the rul. ...... um ok, some I don't follow hehe

For those interested it can be found here

    http://www.5daypouchtest.com/

I am so curious about this.

How is it going for you, I would love to hear form you <3

  5. So I have slowed down considerably in weight loss, probably because I am so close to goal (27-40 pounds away, initial goal 156 pounds)

How much is everyone losing at this stage of the game per month?

I am losing about 3-5 pounds per month right now. I am grateful to be losing, and it is slow, I just wonder how others are managing.

Overall, I do not feel my weight loss has been slow though, just a fyi ;)

Is anyone facing any struggles they want to share?

I for one struggle with getting Water in, (could be my slow loss issue ;)). I still find Water incredibly painful to drink, and it is extremely difficult. A daily struggle, to say the least.

  6. So things have gone pretty well to this point. My surgery was 10/21/13 I was around 245 at surgery and 287 at my highest weight. There are a LOT of food my new stomach doesn't like, eggs, frozen and some raw veggies, bread, Pasta, potatoes, which makes staying away from the naughty foods easy, lol. I definitely having dumping, only had to do that once to know I don't want to do it again. My hair, oh my poor hair, it's probably not even half as thick as it was before surgery and when I go through cycles of Hair loss my head itches like crazy, this seems to happen any time I come out of a stall and loose weight. So there's no winning there. I've been fortunate in my surgical victories but just as lucky in my NSVs. Last weekend I got on the roller coaster that marked my rock bottom with my weight. Two years ago I had to get off the ride because I didn't fit, well I fit this time, with room to spare! I have zero regrets about my decision, except that I wish I'd done it earlier. I still have (probably more) body image issues than I had before, but I feel so great that it's still worth it.

Way to go cali girl! I love seeing such amazing stories!

  7. Thanks for sharing Autumn, how inspiring! Do you need to wear any kind if compression top when you go running? I cant imagine myself ever running... I suppose no one does when they're so overweight though. Who knows what I'll find passion for when I'm lighter and have more energy.

Thanks for the great question. No I do not wear compression garments while running. I don't actually notice the jiggles too much. I do however wear a great sports bra, because those babies would be painful and jiggly to run in ;)

  8. I am 29 years old and had my surgery Halloween 2013.

My highest weight was 333 pounds, had surgery at 282 pound and currently weigh 182 pounds!

Regrets: for the first 8 months I had regrets. Please note though, I had a lot of complications, some of which astounded my doctor. My first 2 months, I could only get in maybe 150 calories, and about 36 calories my first month

Now that all my complications have subsided, I no longer have any regrets. I am the fittest I have ever been, I am competing in races, and love my new body.

Ok, your big question, excess skin. I have a lot!!!! I will see if I can find a picture. My body looks like a smaller version of my biggest form. I have a similar tummy, just a little deflated.

At 150 pounds lost, I am ok with my excess skin. Do I wish I had a flat tummy, totally, but I am so grateful for the things I can now do, that my body image is not dependent on a fit body.

I no longer have weight/scale goals, I have fitness goals.

In 2 weeks, I am running a 10k obstacle course! I could not have done that a year ago.

I went kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and more

I have a life back. Please feel free to ask me anything, I am an open book lol.

Now to find some pictures. I will attach some skin ones, as well as some clothing ones so you can see the difference. I don't wear spanks or anything.

  9. Wow, I feel kinda sheepish. I don't take Vitamins at all!

I eat fortifies foods each day. All of my diet is fruit, vegetables, healthy nuts, dairy and Protein.

According to my improving blood work, my diet is sufficient enough to give me the necessary Vitamins.

Making me take any pill has never worked, so I work 20x harder (go figure), to make sure I get all of my vitamins naturally.

I am not a "health-nut", and I know it is easier to take a single Vitamin per day, but yeah, probably pretty lazy. My nutritionist and I have worked out a healthy way to work around the lack of taking vitamins.

Even Iron supplements are never taken. I supplement them with food too. I am however considering adding some Calcium supplements to my diet.

  10. Wow! Congrats! You look fabulous!

Thank you so much! This surgery for me, and probably for a lot of us is a huge life saver. I have learned so much on this journey, and embrace some of these values.

One great lesson, there is no perfection! Everyone hates something about themselves, so might as well embrace it!.

Don't get me wrong, I will not allow myself to become obese again!

I love this group! Miss you all.

  11. So yesterday was awesome! I am finally able to wear mediums!! I am currently wearing size 14, but notice that my excess skin is preventing me from wearing smaller. Smaller gives me a muffin top!! Lol

I attached a picture of some new scrubs I tried on.

While at work yesterday, I bent over and stood up quickly, my large pants almost fell off!!

I am almost at 100 pounds lost post op! Only 4 pounds to go!

2 pounds away form being "overweight". It is sickening to be overweight still, but wearing mediums lol

But regardless of the what the scale says, I feel great!

Oh I also attached a photo of my size 14 skinny jeans! Almost no muffin top lol

Miss you all, we need some updates!

  12. I would consider myself a runner. I love running now. When I started, I could not even run for longer than 10 seconds. Now I am doing 5k! I am still working on it, and running takes time. I would recommend short distances initially, and begin with interval training. I also highly recommend a couch to 5k program. I personally used zombies run 5k, because well, a great zombie apocalypse story to run to is awesome! Week 3 and 4 were brutal and I felt like they were asking way too much, and it is ok to repeat weeks. I repeated week 3 and 4 several times.

As an example, week one they have me start off with a 10 minute walk, followed by training of 1 minute walk followed by 15s jog/run, 5 times, ending with a 10 minute free form run. The free form run means that you can run or walk as much as you want in that time period.

I also need to stress the importance of rest days and progressing too fast. When a new runner starts out, they often try to progress too fast (increased speed, distance or pace). This can lead to injuries, so rest in between runs until you are able to run consistently.

Running is good for the joints and for building bones, however progressing too fast can cause wear and tear or the joints.

Trust me, running every other day will help you reach your running goals.

As an example, I have been running and training consistently for 7 months. Here is my schedule that I follow now.

    Mondays: 3km

    Tuesday: 1.5km

    Wednesday: rest day

    Thursday: 5km

    Friday: 3km

    Saturday: off

    Sunday: 5km

I am running often, and have just increased my running days to improve my running time. Earlier I stated to rest every other day, please adhere to this when starting out. It will help to avoid injuries early out.

I am currently training for a 10 km urban obstacle race. If you can run 5km without stopping, 10k is no problem.

Remember, when running to go St a pace where you are able to comfortably speak. If you ar either of breath (which is everyone when they start out), you are going too fast :)

Also, good shoes! Trust me on this! It will save your knees and shins!

    I hope I have helped

    <3

  13. I had the rny and do not take any Vitamins. I mean nothing no Calcium, no Iron, and no multi... nothing. My labs are excellent.

I focus on getting all my Vitamins from natural sources.

The big one, Iron for me, I get from pumpkin seeds. They are high is good fats which lower ldl's and raise hdls, and give my body the iron it needs in a day in combination with the other foods I eat. We may have malabsorption, but pills are not always necessary! Especially several times per day! But we do need to realize that some people have bodies that work differently. My body absorbs my nutrients well, before surgery I was taking a lot of Vitamin D and it did nothing, now my body absorbs it well.

I have heard some people need Vitamin B 12 shots, but I don't.

I need to clarify that I eat extremely healthy and I eat up to 100 carbs per day. I would see someone struggle from their vitamin intake if their program has them on a very low carb diet. My diet from the beginning has been very different from most on here based on my program.

I am still losing weight. Highest 333lbs, current 186 lbs

  14. I wanted to update my previous comment. I was pretty close to regretting my surgery, due to complications. Now I am almost 9 months out with no complications for the last 2 months, I have to say it was all worth it!

The complications made it difficult to see the bright side, but I love my new body (which is a smaller version of the same thing lol), and I love how I am so active and can wear anything. I feel so grateful for my surgery and to be honest, I would do it again, even knowing the complications I had. <3
