  1. Hi Friends, I would have posted earlier but I've had a rough time so far. I'm still not feeling well and am in a lot of pain. Day by day it gets better. I have so much pain in the middle of my chest when I swallow and even sometime is spasams even when I not sipping. I know I'm not getting enough fluid in. Any suggestions? I'm ready to get over the hard part. Thanks everyone for being here for me... I will blog my whole experience soon.
  2. Well it is my last night of my old life. Surgery at 11:30 in the morning. I can't seem to get things ready. I still haven't even packed my bag yet. I am terrified but know what ever happens is God's will and it is out of my hands at this point. It is hard to describe how I feel today. I;m apprehensive but so ready to be on the other side. I pray that the pain isn't too bad and my surgery is uneventful. Sometimes I feel like I'm being selfish when I pray for myself. I have a strong Christian faith and I know that HE is in control not me. I'm keep holding on to that. Thanks everyone for listening to me whine about everything since my journey began. You guys rock! I'm not really one of those people that says "the glass is half full".... I'm sure you've caught on to that reading my post. I will, however, go into this surgery with a positive attitude. Thanks to this forum for helping me to this point. Tomorrow is the beginning to my my new life. Next blog will be on the other side!
  3. Bubbles I wish you more than luck. I will surely pray for you. You have been through so much!! I just cringe reading your story. I am to be sleeved tomorrow morning and I'm really terrified. I just told my husband that maybe I shouldn't be reading this story the night before surgery. I can't imagine the suffering you have been through. God has more plans for you. I'm so glad you are ok.
  4. I'm still in the pre op blues! LOL,,, DAY 12 of hell... JK I'm so weak and hungry right now. Surgery on Monday and I just pray it is easier after. I still don't understand why some pre ops are 3 days and some a week, then two and even more.
  5. Hi Jenny, My surgery is Monday as well and I'm also a bundle of nerves too. I will be glad when the hard part is over! Good luck on your surgery. Did you have to do a preop diet before: On my 12 day of preop and it is kicking my butt! Tummy growls all the time.
  6. I bought the sample pack and tried to mix it in water and I couldn't get it to mix well.
  7. You look great!
  8. Congratulations Marina!! I'm so happy for you! I wonder too how I'm going to get in all that liquid. I mean how do you do it?? 64 oz a day?!?! I don't do that now. I'm worried cause my surgery is Monday and I have no idea how I'm going to do it. On the up side, my daughter is in Nursing school working on her BSN. So she will be taking care of me next week!
  9. You look awesome! My surgery is Monday and I'm sooooo scared!
  10. I bought a sample bag and I tried the apple something earlier and it was awful!! I'm wondering how to drink it as well. I thought it would be good listening to most comments about it but its not me to...
  11. Oh.. now you are ahead of me!! They changed my surgery time to 11:30... now I have to be there at 9:00.
  12. Thanks Kathy I appreciate all you guys support. This site is awesome! I will let everyone know how I did!!
  13. So, my call came in this morning from the surgery nurse. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am on Monday morning. I guess this really is going to happen. I just found out I will have a On Q pain catheter inserted. I guess because I'm having a large hernnia repair a the same time. I don't know. I assumed it would be a morphine pain pump but as of this morning that isn't the case. I asked the nurse what this was and she said it was inserted directly into the site. From what I've read it is really good and most people feel no pain at all with this in. I have to be sure to remember to tell them to give me nausea medicine. OH boy... I'm nervous and excited. I'm sure I will blog again on Sunday night fretting about the surgery.. I've lost 13.2 pounds on the pre op so far. I guess I just might make the 15! Wish it had been more but I have really stuck to the diet except for twice which was boiled eggs and lettus... Has anyone had this On Q pain catheter before? If so, weigh in sleevers. I love y'all!!
  14. You are so funny about those pickles!! I think about having to be on two more weeks of liquid too after doing two weeks now for the preop. I'm not looking forward to it. I feel like I'm starving. I haven't been asked to do a preop thing yet. The hospital should be calling me tomorrow. So, I guess they will let me know. I don't know why they would because I don't have anything in me anyway but liquids... YUCK!
  15. Thank you! I'm so nervous and anxious but trying not to think about it. I know my surgeon puts his patients on blood thinners before and after surgery for 10 days, so I'm hoping It helps.
  16. Wow.. that sucks! As my husband says "insurance is organized crime!". I am now on my husbands group policy. I have a 2500.00 deductible. It hardly pays for anything. I don't think they can drop me as long as it is a group policy through a company but I may be wrong. Thanks so much for telling me though. I won't let them know anything. Hope they don't find out somehow!!
  17. Thanks guys...! Donnie, that makes me feel somewhat better
  18. I was just wondering if any self pay patients had any complications after surgery and if their insurance paid for it even if they had an exclusion on the surgery itself? I'm self pay as you all know and I'm so worried what I will do if I have complications. My family has put everything we have in this surgery financially. I know I should just call my insurance company but I don't even want to give them heads up that I'm having surgery. I know that may sound rediculous. Funny thing is they paid for my physc eval. Strange isn't it?
  19. Shelly I hope it gets better. I know it has to be terrible!
  20. Thanks Marina. It is so hard to stay in control. Is it easier after surgery?
  21. My surgery is Monday and I've heard nothing about it.
  22. Does everyone have to do this before surgery??
  23. Thanks Joni. I guess I'm just having a bad day. Blah! Be so happy to have this behind me. I've been drinking protein shakes but those aren't clear liquids. Should I do 48 of Clear liquids exempting the shakes?
