  1. 14 days preop for me. I weighed 294.4 and lost 15 pounds those two weeks. So, I was 279 on my surgery date. HARDEST two weeks of my life!!
  2. You are so lucky!! I long for ONEDERLAND! I have 10 more pounds. Seems I will never get there!! Congratulations to you!
  3. Congratulations on your sleeve!!
  4. Congratulations.!! I'm a little over half and 6months on 5/21/12.
  5. I would say laparoscopic Any surgery done open has more risk of blood clots, bleeding and definitely longer recovery time. I would say find a very experience surgeon that has done at least 1000 of the sleeve surgeries laparoscopic and go from there. A leak can occur because of the staple gun misfiring and that can happen either way. Good luck and God bless!
  6. Not sure if you know this but soda will surely stretch your sleeve. You have done such an awesome job so I just thought I would let you know that. Again, congratulations!!! Amazing!
  7. Hey MG ... you and I are really close in numbers! My goal is 155 as well and I've lost 82 pounds.
  8. You look absolutely beautiful!! Congrats!! I'm half way and hope that I can make my goal in the next six months!!
  9. Yeah... really!! 106 pounds and you aren't happy!!? I would be ecstatic !! I went for my 6 month check up today a week shy of my anniversary and I've only lost 82 pounds! How in the world does someone lose 106 pounds in 5 months!?! Congratulations!!
  10. Congratulations!!! I can't wait to hit ONEDERLAND!! I have 12 more pounds!
  11. I had NO clue I would have to take shots after my surgery either until the surgery was done!! I got home and they called in my meds and I was told I had to give myself injections of blood thinners everyday. The first time was awkward. It really didn't hurt though. The needles are so small and they are prefilled syringes. You will be fine. It is a small price to pay for the benefits!!
  12. I had my sleeve surgery on May 21st of this year. On the 21st of this month I will be 6 months out. I've lost 82 pounds to date. I didn't want to go with the band because I didn't want to be vomiting all the time. I know to many people that had been through it and so I elected to go with the sleeve. I didn't want my intestines rerouted either as they do with gastric bypass. I know for me, it was the best decision. The sleeve I think is 8 years old and I've not heard anyone say they had problems further out. I have heard of complications in the beginning which can be really bad but as with any surgery that can happen. I know its new but to me it was the best surgery out of the three. I did see a post for a lady that is 3 years out and she hasn't gained back one pound. She seemed to be happy. I hope and pray that the longer we go the safer it is. I don't think the sleeve can be stretched like the gastric pouch and is much safer. Good luck to you on what ever you choose to do. I would think that this would be so much better for you because you would be able to eat and not be vomiting all of the time.
  13. Thanks so much everyone!! You guys are awesome!! As of today I am 211 so I have 58 more pounds to go. I'm 5'7" and want to weight 155!! Thanks again for all the sweet compliments!
  14. Thank you!! Actually, all I do is walk. I try to do it everyday but sometimes I don't get to. I really need to do more.
  15. Thanks everyone!! Y'all are so sweet. I love this board!!!!!
  16. Thank you!! Yes I have lost A LOT of hair! I am so blessed because I had very thick hair before. I've had 5 inches cut off since surgery but I've noticed the loss has slowed.

    Thats awesome!! Congratulations!
  18. I still have a ways to go but I'm really happy with my progress!!! Seem the stall broke this week. I've lost 4 pounds this week. This was the absolute best decision of my life. I wish I had been able to do it sooner. I prayed God would release me from the bondage of obesity and he did!! God is good!
  19. I felt exactly as you do before my surgery. I thought about cancelling it but then realized that I have come too far and even though my insurance wouldn't pay and I was a self pay, I decided to go through with it. I had tried since I was 8 to lose weight and keep it off. I would lose and gain it right back. I knew I couldn't do this on my own. I just prayed to the good Lord and asked that his will be done and I wasn't even scared the morning of surgery. I knew there were serious risks but I also knew that I couldn't live like I was any longer. I was borderline diabetic and was on 2 BP medications. I had my thyroid ablated and was on Synthroid as well. The first night after surgery was rough. The weeks to follow at home were also rough for me. I had pain and stomach spasms. I started feeling myself maybe 2 1/2 months after surgery. I did regret it in the beginning but today I know it all was so worth it!! Some people don't have any problems at all. You may be one of them. Still, I feel so blessed to have had this surgery even if I had to pay for it. You will be fine!! You will be so glad you did this! Maybe not at first but later you will be. God Bless!
  20. Praying for you!! You are so brave and I know things will be just fine for you. My best friend has a daughter who had to have a heart transplant. She was born without the left side of her heart and she lived with her old heart until 4 years ago. She is now 21 and doing fabulous!! Please keep us posted and I will definitely add you as a friend. God bless!
  21. I had a two week preop diet. Nothing but protein shakes. No food. I had to shrink my liver as well because I had fatty liver disease at the time. The preop diet was soooooo hard!!!! I did make it though and everything was fine. I only lost 15 pounds in two weeks drinking nothing but shakes.
  22. Congratulations!! Seems you are doing awesome! Our numbers are very similar. I started out at 294.4 and now have lost 78 pounds in 5 months. I'm very happy. I did have some issues in the beginning that lasted a couple of months. Pain and stomach spasms. Still, I would do it again. My life and health is so much better.

My insurance wouldn't pay for my surgery either even though I had high blood pressure, borderline diabetes, and was almost 300 pounds. I decided to get online and apply for CareCredit which is high interest but I was approved and I had my surgery and paid 18,000 for it. I now make payments but I had no other choice. I knew I had to have this surgery and I borrowed the money. I'm so glad I did now. I am so much better and so much happier. Hope things turn out for you!! Oh and now I've lost 78 pounds in 5 months and am down to 218.
