What you left out is the mental aspect. Fear and hope were motivators. You get comfortable. You lose and feel good. You forget the struggle. Like most women who have experienced childbirth. You forget the pain until you are pregnant again lol They joy of a new body. For some a new life. You forget about your struggle until the scale or your body starts to remind you.

For desk jobs it is usually about two weeks. Some people go back sooner and are fine. Some people go back later and regret going back that early. For me, I went back at 15 days post-op and my biggest problem was fatigue. I was SO TIRED by the end of the work day that I would go straight to bed after dinner. I think it depends some on your food stages as well. Those who are allowed to advance through the food stages more quickly are able to get more calories in and won't be as tired. Check with your program to see what your post-op food stages are. If you are back on at least purees or soft foods by the time you return to work, it will be easier than if you are still on liquids.< /p>

I am 10 weeks and it happens to me. It sounds loud but I don't think others can hear it. LOL It happens when I drink to fast or have something that upsets my sleeve. I at some spicy tuna last night and roxie (my sleeve) was pissed off and I thought an alien would come flying out of my throat. LOL

My starting weight was 448. I am 9 months post-op and have lost 118lbs. I reached 100lbs lost at 6mths. My weight loss is slowing down but I know I'm the blame. Most importantly you have to make yourself accountable to make it happen.
Just like many of us we turn to the forums for guidance support and help when things are going wrong (my first time here in months)
I will do better with staying active to help those who are on my same journey.

Yes I have hit a stall too. But you have to re-evaluate what you are doing. I come to the forums for motivation because living every day life can throw you off track. I know what I can be doing differently. I'm trying to be honest with myself. We can break this stall!

I love this post. I am 1 year and two months post-op. My doctor told me I have lost the expected amount from the sleeve (125lbs) the rest if up to me. My goal is 200lbs so I have 75 more pounds, I find myself strying. I bounce between the same 5 pounds.
Basically I will always be a work in progress and I'm okay with that.

phatdivabbw got a reaction from slimagainsoon in 10 Months Post-OP and Now What
I'm 10 mths post-op and (knock on wood) everything has been smooth sailing. About two weeks ago I noticed that everytime after I eat I run to the bathroom. Literally not more than 10-15 mins after. It's becoming annoying. My first week post-op I had trouble going but soon everything became normal. My urination has always been sporadic but no big deal. I know I should call my surgeon but I figured I would ask y'all first. Sometimes you guys have answers that the docs don't have. Like the slimies. I couldn't believe I had the worst time describing the feeling to my doctor and then what happens.
Well Let me Know if anyone else at this stage has this problem.

There is a point where many may:
have more capacity to eat more food/stomach relaxes
    get their hunger back
    weight loss slows or stops
    start gaining weight
    reach goal and navigate maintenance
    are past the "honeymoon"
usually past a year or more may be earlier
find themselves in a new "stage" different from the beginning stages after WLS
finding the old methods used to take off weight may or may not work
are finding a way to stay the same weight after gaining or losing too much
the issues are no usually longer about what Protein drink to buy, the three week stall, the funny taste of food, gas pain, eating in public, hair loss, insurance approval.....
come to the conclusion that the process NEVER ends, it is a lifetime of learning and doing and sharing and counting and moving... and that is the new normal.
Realizing what is meant by "the sleeve is a tool" and it is only part of the process, you can gain all your weight back if you don't start forming a new life and just resting from the work and eating "normally" after getting to goal will result in weight gain for many.
These are some of the issues I see arising for "vets" and distinguishes them from "newbies"... which we all were once... You can't know how the sleeve and the rest of the body and mind will be until you experience it for yourself over time. 1-2-3-5 years later, things change. We don't know about 10 years because there just aren't many out there with current style sleeves to talk to. But some at 6 months are getting some of this experience, I think after a year or two you really see the Vet issues even clearer. Some don't come back here, so hopefully they are doing great, are living life and not gaining or losing too much.... the ones of us that are still here are experiencing the stuff listed above... some are having NO problems at all.
I love my sleeve and my life, and at this time (2 1/2 years out) I am still not at goal, but very close and believe I will make it to goal pretty soon, and have some plans on how to maintain I think I can follow. Taking the long view has been very helpful for me....If I took the view that if I didn't lose all my weight by 6 months without pulling all my hair out or I was a failure if I didn't lose 30 pounds in the first month, then this experience would have been hell. I have some good support friends here that have been here for years... we chug along together, and check in often, share research, worries and challenges, and we will share the pleasure of accomplishment as well. I plan on staying in contact during maintenance when I get there. Maintenance may well be the most difficult part of this journey. Keeping the weight off is the trick.
Someone here said it best... reaching goal at 3 years feels just as good at reaching goal at 6 months. Who cares as long as you get there!

I think you just have to keep making good choices over and over. Stick to the basics, log what you eat. Never get complacent.

You seem to be in good spirits. That's a plus. I was dry heaving for two days. I couldn't even put anything in my mouth if I wanted to. I couldn't even take one sip of Water. SMH It's good you have a catheter because I couldn't pee. But when I started to dry heave and gag. There was nothng to vomit but bile and I would wet the bed. Then I would call for the nurse who never came. I was a big cry baby now that I think about it. I didn't have any pain just nausea and dry heaves. LOL
Get some rest you will need it.

I'm also a May 2012 Sleever! Yes! I keep thinking what if I didn't take that step last year. My advice is to stay focused you can do it. I'm not going to sugar coat things and say all will be good because at some point you will question your sanity. LOL Real Talk!! When I start to mess up I remind myself that I consented for 85% of my stomach to be removed to save my life. That always kicks my butt into gear. Never compare yourself to others. I use to do that but then realized everyone's loss and journey will be different!
Good Luck to all of you who are joining us on the journey to wellness.
