  1. I'm wondering what others did with their clothes once the couldn't werthem anymore? I am moving out of the size I have been for a loooong time and have no idea what to do with them. Right now I have piles of clothes' date=' all over my house, with no place to go. Storage tubs aren't even an option becuse i already have 8 in my basement with winter clothes in them (and most of that stuff I'll need to get rid of as well).

Honestly, I have invested a small fortune in my clothes and just can't bring myself to take them to a thrift store or some other place like that (in my experience, the people who need to be sopping there rarely benefit fom good deals and the people who can afford to go out and buy the stuff at regular price, "strike gold" and ****** I all up!). I hope this isn't coming off in a negative or selfish way...I have given trash bags full of clothes to people in the past because I knew they needed them, but this time around, I didn't know anyone like that.

I am so excited that my clothes are too big, but I guess in a way I'm more attached to them than I thought. Any suggestions you have would be grately appreciated.

Lol I'm one of those that strike gold I guess. Don't realize there were income limits for bargain shopping. Maybe have a yard sale?

  2. My band has seemed very tight in he last week. I've got 4cc in it. Am scheduled to go to surgeon on Thursday. Will not be getting a fill.

I've read others have a right band during hot weather? I can't think what else could be causing it. I'm not having problems but have to be very very careful and chew tons. (This is new in the past week). So I'm guessing it's the weather or a very delayed response to my last fill 4 weeks ago.

  3. I have been overweight my entire life; except for for when I lost significant weight at 13' date=' and over 100 pounds at 18, and 30. There was a British study done a while back that showed in families where the men are alcoholics the women are obese. That is certainly true in my family. I think it shows a propensity toward addictive behaviors.

I had to attend mindfull eating sessions as part of my preop. These sessions were really helpful to me. I have to actively decide not to eat fatty/high calorie foods; probably like an addict has to actively decide not to have a smoke or a drink. This is why my diets never worked in the past because it is mentally exhausting to constantly be chosing only healty foods. With the band if I do make poor choices it helps me eat less of them.[/quote']

That British study makes total sense in my situation! My mothers side of the family is just this way!!!!!!!

  4. I'm just wondering how many people out there eat perfectly and work out like they should? When I read some posts (none in particular' date=' just generally), it seems that most people on here are perfect eaters. They eat their 3 oz of Protein and then veggies, all 3x a day. If I could stay with that plan, I wouldn't have needed this "tool" to help me not eat so much! I've been banded for 2 1/2 yrs now and have lost over 100 lbs (about 12 left to go) and I'm far from perfect. I'm not even a good eater. I eat whatever I want, never measure anything, don't count calories, fat grams, or Protein. I eat a few bites of everything then I'm done. I love my life now. I can fit into a sz 7/8 and no longer have hypertension.

My band slipped about 4 mths ago (my fault, too much vomiting from eating way too fast) and I've been unfilled for 3 wks now. I go back in next week (thank God) for a fill. I guess my brain finally decided to catch up with my band and be satisfied on very little food now,cuz I haven't gained a pound. I do eat a little more than I did, but not much. I thought for sure I'd gain 20 lbs.

I just wanted to get a count on here of everyone who eats perfectly all the time, works out like they should, and is happy. I sure wouldn't be if I still had to diet the rest of my life. That's why I got the band - so I wouldn't ever have to diet again!

    Marci[/quote']

Marci, this is exactly how I'm feeling. For the past two weeks I've eaten exactly what I wanted. Even a bite of ice cream here or there, gasp! And I've lost 5 pounds in the past week! I hate to diet and I don't want to count calories! My dr doesn't even tell me to--he says no more than 1/2 cup of food three times per day. I'm doing that. Diet no more!

  5. B52, I've been reading your posts and am inclined to agree with your way of thinking. I'm still monitoring calories closely because I haven't hit the green zone yet, but I don't plan to once my band is where it needs to be.

I also don't subscribe to starvation mode though--starving children in third world countries & anorexia being my reasons!!!!!!

  6. This is an awesome thread and helps!

    My NSVs so far:

The steering wheel thing. I actually had just reached the point where my belly was touching the wheel pre-surgery. Not anymore. :)

    Clothes are already getting baggy

My blood pressure has gone down

Aches and pains have almost disappeared

Can paint my own toenails again

I've lost 25 pounds so far. Only 80 or 90 to go!

  7. I cannot lie about it. My morals don't allow for that. However, I don't advertise it either. My co-workers know and have been nothing but supportive. I'm sure most of my extended family knows, and some of them are probably waiting for me to fail ( my Grannie lives with me and there's some jealousy and dysfunction there) but those people will always exist.

I'm happy with my decision and that's what matters.

  8. I love my weight watchers scale. it shows weight in small increments like 191.4 instead of just 191. For me thats a big help as i keep track of my weight in a daily log.If the scale goes up 2 lbs or more i start reassesing what diet and exercise has been like for the last 2 days. It really keeps me accountable very quickley !! And oh' date=' its fun to watch that # go down !!!![/quote']

I agree! I have the same scale and I feel able to closely monitor my weight as well. I weigh every morning to make sure there's no huge fluctuations up. I only log it on Mondays though.

  9. Thank you! I was banded 3/20. :) I'm sure it is due to swelling but I am glad to feel full so quickly.

It was zero pain. My dr told me to push my stomach out and then he cleaned the port site and inserted the needle. Easy peazy! I don't know if it makes a difference but I can feel my port. It might be more uncomfortable if they had to dig around to find it.

    Good luck!!!!!

  10. So I got my first fill yesterday of 3cc. liquids yesterday and could advance to solids today. I was only able to eat about 5 bites of my super yummy salad a moment ago at lunch.

I was surprised it happened so quickly, but I got a full feeling in my chest and had read enough here to know to stop eating. I know that it will probably take more fills but I am excited today to at least be on my way!!!!!

  11. Ok so everything went great. I got my 1st fill 3cc in 11cc band. Im super excited and maybe a little light headed. Dr said my incision looks better he wants to keep me on antibiotics for 10 more days becuz it's still infected but not as bad as it was. Dr said im cleared for cardio just no tummy exercises which i get. He also said I should start losing alot more weight now. I go back in 2 weeks for a check up on my infection. How is everyone else doing?

I'm glad you are doing better!!!!!
