    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

5'4" must be the magic height for August. I'm also 5'4" and 240 lbs.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

I'm an August sleeker, I chose my dr. Because he was at a center of excellence and I liked their (the office's) approach. I went to 4 different WLS seminars and checked out all 4 centers. I went with gbmc in Baltimore. In fact I'm there in the waiting room right now.

    Anyone With Bcbs Fed?

That's great news! I assume you were close to your OOP maximum for it to be so low?

    Reached My First Goal Today!

That's a great NSV. I look forward to the day when I can wear mine again, too.
  13. I am in the middle of my three-month Nut visits. I don't have a date yet. Just wondering how quickly the center submits to insurance once you meet the insurance reqmnts. I assume that I have to complete three full months or four visits. Anyone have any experience?

Im Either Going To Be A July Or August Sleever

I am in the middle of my 3-month nut visits, 2 appt is 10 May, which means I will finish my 3 full months on 5 July. I am assuming that my doctor's office won't submit the paperwork for insurance approval until after that. Like you, Kiki, I will either be early August or late July, depending upon how fast insurance approves and the office will schedule the surgery. Good luck to you.
  15. Welcome raven. I am a lot like you--5'4", 239 and 52. Hope to get to 125

    Completed My Psych Eval!

Thanks a lot! No date yet. Surgeon waits for me to complete three month nut schedule first. My second month starts next week. Just keep that seat warm. I'll be on it as soon as I can.
  19. 1-1/2 hours to complete over a 1000 questions plus an hour actually with the psychologist and I am approved! Woo-hoo! Labs came back yesterday - all numbers look good. Second woo-hoo! Have my second of three consults with the nut next week. Hope to have every thing done and ready for a late July surgery. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

    Anyone Order Dr. Alvarez's Book?

Yes, I did three weeks ago. It is a small book but very thorough. It was great for my spouse, who read it cover to cover complete with yellow marker highlights! (He can be very anal, sometimes.) You can pay for it using paypal so ordering is safe and secure. I got it via regular mail within a week of ordering. I definitely recommend it as it helped allay concerns my husband had regarding WLS in general.

    What Size French Bougie?

My doctor used a 38F. He says he has learned this size is best to avoid strictures but still keep the new tummy small as possible.

    Unsure About This Surgery?

Thanks queenofcrop for your great blog this week. It really hit the spot!

    Age

If you mean for vsg, you are not too old. My doctor sail at the WLS seminar that he did WLS on a 71-year old just recently! Most will do up to age 65 with no real concerns but it is dependent upon the person.
  24. Just completed all my tests today. The radiologist said I have a hiatal hernia. Does this mean that the doctor will automatically repair it during vsg surgery?
