  1. I'm glad I'm not alone. I had surgery on the 19th and I'm down 12 pounds and it seems to be stuck there. I'm headed back to work on the 23rd and was hoping to be down a bit more. At my weight 12 pounds does not show and I don't want to have to field those questions and looks from people who know what I had done and can't tell any difference. I feel like a failure at this point.

Honey you're nota failure. It's a tool, not a magic wave of a wand fix. You should tell them that if they ask anything! Lol plus, you had surgery, your body and hormones are in disarray. Though you will lose significant weight, exactly when and at what rate is unpredictable and will fluctuate. Your body and hormones have had a huge shock and there's a lot of adjusting left over the months ahead. Hugs

  2. I have the same sleeve date as you and I'm only down 11. I'd be over the moon if I were at 30! I lost that 11 within the first week and nothing since. It's frustrating. My boyfriend says he can already see differences in my figure' date=' and I can wear a ring that is very precious to me again so I know something is happening. I'm clinging to my non scale victories right now, because the scale makes me want to destroy my bathroom "Hulk smash" style, every morning![/quote']

I just gotta say, I love you!!! You crack me up....my kinda chick. Hope you're doing ok. I've been less teary the last couple days but it will still be roller coaster I know.

  3. Excuse my language, but damn. :-( My libido is already depressingly high. Yeah I'm married, but not getting help in that department as his libido little to none.

But 6 days out, weepy and more easily irritated. The irritation is hormonal right now, though. It's not because I'm frustrated at having to be on liquids or not able to have what I want. It's involuntary and then I wanna cry. Oh Lordy... Lol

    Whaaaaaaaaaaa. Hahahaha!!!

  4. I'm really "crazy" over this surgery. . . I'm so "euphoric" cause I've lost like 150 lbs and now I seem to be "normal". . . lol' date=' mental issues, that is a quirk. . . no offense taken, but whoever told you about that must have several issues themselves. . . good luck to you![/quote']

Amen to that!!!! Puhhhllleassee!! Having a portion of your stomach removed making you mentally slow? I'd even be embarrassed to pass on such information to you. Think of the lack of all logic in that. Hugs to you, hon!!

Do your research and you'll find no such thing, AND you'll feel better whatever you choose. I'm 6 days post op.

Oh, and I may be a lil crazy, but I assure you I've always been a lil crazy. Lol!!!!

Be careful if you read things such as there being a link to mental disability and obesity.... A link can simply mean that a significant portion of people with a mental disability tend to be obese. See.... People can read/misread info. all the time. You'll feel knowledgable and armed with facts when you talk to a surgeon, nutritionist, etc

  5. Had the same thoughts, my friend. Then you remember that once off liquids you'll gain it back if not for the sleeve. My surgery was on March 28th. I'm not looking for perfection in the end. My motives tend to be similar to yours. Just gonna ride this ride as far down the scale as it will go and not get obsessed about a mental image I'd love to look like. I'll feel healthy, I'll be healthy for me and my kids.

    Nice to meet you. :-)

  6. ONce again' date=' Different Drs have differnt opinions. I was a shift worker so caffeine was a neccesary evil. I asked if I caould have coffee and was told as long as it isn't a high calorie Starbucks type of drink I was fine and to use it in moderation. BTW, in the UK, they count coffee as Water. I think I will go by the UK rules to get my fluids in![/quote']

Oh Heck Yeah!!! I'm Irish, so good enough for me!!!! Woohooooooooo!!!!! Coffee in the morning!!!!!! <3 gotta have it. Dang, I love the UK!!!!!!!! ;-P

  7. Hi Susie' date='

I gave up coffee until I was 3 months post op. I stayed with tea and progressed back to caffeine slowly just to let my stomach heal (this topic goes back and forth, I think it is all personal). My surgeon said ok for regular coffee at 2 month appt. I used to use half /half and splenda before surgery because of so many years of Atkins. Now post surgery I use a splash of Soy light, sf vanilla and 2 Stevia, really yummy.

Just be careful with your new tummy.

    Sandy[/quote']

I will, thank you! I adore my coffee and Decaf is just fine for me. I can't wait to go out to Starbucks and get a Tall, fat free, sugar free mocha latte. Yummmmmmmy

  8. I don't think I have ever had dumping although I have had some ill effects from deep fried food early out. Sugars usually trigger dumping in VSG and even at that it is very rare. Dumping can occor in anyone WLS or not. I have always used half and half in my coffee' date=' one of the things I always allowed myself even when I was in the "losing" stages. At this point in time, you will be struggling to get in 600 calories a day so I wouldn't worry about it. Every nut and every Dr have their own opinions. I have come to find that most of them just cut and paste an RNY diet and don't even bother to look at the VSG diet as anything different. I was lucky, my team did and taylored my eating and drinking plan to the VSG and everything worked. Good luck and welcome to the losers bench![/quote']

Thank you! Yes, I've been fortunate to have gone through a Center For Excellence for my VSG. They have taylored diets pre and post op for each wls procedure they do. The NUT has done so much of her own longer term research with bariatrics patients and knows what works for most! So glad you had a great one also!! I'll use my 1/2 1/2 and Splenda, and see how I like it. Thanks!!!

  9. Best Vitamins I have EVER had - pre or post op? Nutrametrix!!!!! I swear by them. It is a powder you mix with Water. After the mixture stops fizzing, you sip it till it's gone. AND - its isotonic, only other thing that is isotonic is an IV. It doesn't go through the digestive process. I used to ALWAYS have to eat with a multivitamin or else I threw up. Never once have I had to eat with nutrametrix. Because it is isotonic you only have to wait 10-30 min. Before you can eat. No, I don't sell Nutrametrix, lol. My endocrinologist put me this years ago. I loved how good it made me feel also. They are more expensive than some, but comparable to Bariatric Advantage costs, I think. I will take Nutrametrix multivitamin and Calcium at whatever the cost to me - it's been THAT worth it.

  10. If you are on full liquids' date=' I would say cream is fine. You can also cream your coffee with some mixed up vanilla Protein. Clear liquids is another story.[/quote']

Yes I'm on full liquids. I was worried the fat in the cream could cause me to dump even though i know it's from milk. The sugar free Creamers seem to have very minimal carbs. Thank you so much for your help. I will hold off a bit longer and then watch the carb content when I do end up trying it. I appreciate you responding. :-) you look great, btw and nice to meet you.
