  1. I just went to my surgeon's office for a follow-up and was very pleasantly surprised! That neat little scale gizmo that he has that also calculates your BMI, Water, fat and muscle ratio provided me with some great information. According to my scale I had only lost about 9 pounds since my last visit 2 months ago. The scale at the doctor's office agreed with my weight loss numbers but the doctor told me that I had actually lost 15 pounds of FAT, while gaining 6 additional pounds of muscle, even though my weight loss was 9 pounds. My point is this... while I thought I had hit a stall, my body just fooled me into thinking I had stalled while it kept whittling away at the bad stuff (you know, the "F" word...FAT!) So, take heart, you losers, we're going to make it yet!

  2. Everyone is different, so it's hard to say. I was 5 weeks out on Monday & got a surge of energy that hasn't gone away yet. I'm finally feeling better than my old self especially since it's easier to do things without the added weight (I've lost 33 lbs since pre-op).

I guess it depends on how much energy you want. I was okay to do things by week 2 or 3, but still did things slowly and still took one or two naps and went to bed early until just this week.

I couldn't agree more with the above answer. 3 weeks minimum. Don't be your worst enemy like I did and not take in enough Water and protein... it is miserable. Best of luck!

  3. A few days out I would drink almost anything that tastes good! Leaning too heavily towards no-calorie drinks will cause you to not have any energy because you're probably eating very little food. I was an apple juice junkie for a while and it really helped me. (BTW, I'm 102 pounds down from my original weight so I must be doing something right!).

  4. I have not been, but from what the paperwork I received said they do TAKE US $'s but will only give you back change in Pesos, so to take lots of singles so you wont need change (bills). I dont think I will exchange mine....

Not so. I've been there many, many times. You may occasionally get some pesos in small change but their value s so minimal you can just take them home for souvenirs. For example, a 50 centavo (cent) piece is worth about a nickle, 10 centavos are worth about a penny. If it's important to you, just tell them you do not want any pesos and they will oblige.

  5. Why not? The corn tortilla doesn't get mushy like the flour ones and the rest of the ingredients (cheese, chicken, beef, etc) are fine. One question is can you tolerate the spiciness? I've eaten Mex. food regularly since being sleeved 2 1/2 mos ago without problems.

  6. You know what? We r human... I swore to myself when I had this surgery that I wouldn't be perfect in my eating... I mean can we really expect ourselves to resist everything all of the time? If i had one chicken strip, I'd enjoy the little that I had an move on. I'd be sure to make extra healthy choices the next few days in fear of falling into an old habit trap, but we should allow ourselves a little something now and again. As long as it doesn't make us sick...

    Me too.

  7. Fluids. Dehydration will drag you down so fast you won't know what hit you. I'm just back from my 3rd trip to the infusion clinic for IV fluids. I know first hand how rotten you feel and what an absolute lack of energy you have when dehydrated. Once your fluids are low it takes days and days to build them back up by just drinking more. Call your doc and he will arrange fluids for you if that's what you need. It sure sounds like it. Good luck and, BTW, I envy your exercise regime!

  8. My personal opinion? If you are having a hard time eating, I would eat anything that appeals to you. You are eating so little that calorie counting is probably a non-issue. You have to fuel your body with something, even if it isn't the healthiest thing in the world. Later on you can become more choosy. Keep up with fluids and do your best w/ Protein. Good luck!

  9. WTG... I loved your post and I can really relate to it.

My latest NSV is the most memorable of my life. For the first time I can ever recall, I am no longer considered "obese." My BMI just went below 30.0 so I am now (temporarily) just "overweight." The Love-Hate Meter on my sleeve just went a couple of notches upward towards the Love side.

  10. Boy, do I hear you! I think I miss just the act of eating a "good" meal, not so much specific foods (but a big chunk of prime rib sure sounds good). We have no choice but to make the best of it and make lemonade out of the lemons. At best, I guess we face a max capacity of around 1 to 1/2 cups way down the line. Even that seems a little far-fetched in light of the fact that I can only eat about 1/3 cup of food at a time comfortably. Sigh.... I'm glad that I'm losing all this weight and all, but I might have had a change of heart about the surgery had I thought long and hard about this. But, like I said, I'm glad I went through with it.
