  1. Thanks! I've only heard good things too about both Dr. Nick and FP. The only "negative" thing I heard is Dr. Nick doesn't see you after surgery. Was that true with you? How long did you stay in the hospital? Do you go to the monthly support groups at Baylor Plano?
  2. When/where was your surgery? Any regrets using Dr. Nick?
  3. I've tried the Unjury and it is what I find tolerable and what I planned on using until the BA salesman told me I needed meal replacement preop. I'm still not sure why meal replacement is necessary preop but not postop. I got kinda a runaround answer when I questioned that.
  4. Thanks for sharing your experience. More and more, I think I'm leaning away from them except for maybe their peanut high Protein bar which I loved.
  5. After my doctor appointment the other day where I chose my date, I met with a rep from Bariatric Advantage. It was good because I got to try everything. However, I almost feel like I might be being taken by a salesman. Of course, his products were the best and no others compared nutritional wise. However, I detested his Meal Replacement Protein powder for the preop diet. When I tried to talk about other options like powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and the likes, he just wasn't having it because they aren't Meal Replacements with all the Vitamins and minerals. After surgery, I could use those but prior to surgery he was insistent I needed meal replacement shakes. Also, his vitamins were specifically made for pre and post Bariatric surgery and, in his opinion, there just wasn't anything else out there comparable. I understands he is a salesman, but geeze, his stuff wasn't cheap. The preop shakes, bars and "chips" is $180.00. The one month postop is $129.00 and the vitamins (multi, Calcium, b-12 , and d) will run me a little over $100.00 every 3 months. I don't have a problem spending money for my health. I do have issues with spending more than necessary just to have Bariatric specific stuff and for their protein meal replacements I detest just because the salesman's opinion is that his stuff is the best and because he feels I need meal replacements (instead of just protein shakes) during my preop. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for here. Maybe, to know what y'all are using and your thoughts of using bariatric specific products. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions. ~Amy
  6. That is great. I can't wait to do that one day.
  7. I agree that your husband should be on your "team". However, you cannot control what he chooses to do and what may come of it with his aunt and cousin. It's his decision and it's him who will have to suffer the consequences of his choice. You wouldn't be responsible for that and shouldn't worry about it, IMHO. I hope for you that he keeps his mouth shut and lets y'all enjoy "your vacation". Good luck!
  8. I tend to be a fast drinker....especially with a straw. However, postop, the straw might be an advantage. I have straw Water bottles so I think I'm gonna get one without so I have both options for whatever works best. Thanks! ~Amy
  9. Thanks y'all. I did find one that has the straw in it but you can take it out and it becomes a sipper. That may be the way to go especially since I might forget to drink slower.
  10. I've always had a Water bottle or cup with a straw so I need to get something I can have with me after surgery that doesn't have a straw. I've heard the straw is a bad idea because it allow one to swallow air. Do you think the water bottles with the built in straw would work or would they too allow me to suck in air? See an example of what I'm talking about here: http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11367011&cp=2291414.2291416&view=all&parentPage=family Thanks for any words of advice.
  11. I too use a WW scale. People talk about their scale not being accurate, but I'm not sure they have to be so long as you are consistently weighing in on it. If you get on your scale and you are losing, then you are losing. If you get to a specific number on your scale and you are comfortable, then stay at that number on your scale. One could probably weigh on 100 differerent scales and get a lot of different weights.
  12. I got the impression that an EGD scope was pretty much a preop test everyone has. My doctor didn't prescribe one for me? Anyone else not have to have one?
  13. Great information. Thanks for posting it.
  14. The CPT code for VSG is 43775. About insurance coverage, I've learned that just because you have a certain coverage, the benefits vary as the employers are selecting the benefits. I have BCBS OH but my bariatric coverage has little to do with that and much to do with what my employer selected.
  15. That's awesome. Congrats!
  16. Wow Denise! Congrats on the payoff of all your hard work! You rock girl!
  17. Thanks Katenna. I had my fist office visit with Dr. nick yesterday and he told me I will hate him for about a week. :-)
