  1. Wow, you look absolutely amazing!! Congratulations!!
  2. I got a Ninja too for myself. Tried it out by making the kids slushies and it turned great. Did you find a good Protein Drink that you liked?
  3. Hi Everyone!! I created a group yesterday called, "April Sleeve Buddies." For those that expressed interest, I sent you an invite. If you have not received or cannot locate your invite from me, I will tell you how to retrieve your invite soon. I just sent a "help" message and hopefully, they will get back to me quickly. I cannot send another invite to you, it will not allow me to duplicate. I will post as soon as I find out. I'm sorry this is happening!! I didn't forget you, I promise .
  4. I did send you an invite yesterday and I cannot send another one, it won't let me. I'm not sure how the invite is sent to you, since I was the one setting it up and did not receive one. Can anyone please let us know how you received the invite to the group we just created "April Sleeve Buddies."
  5. Oh no, sorry to hear about the denial. I know you and I were waiting for the insurance process around the same time. I was wondering the same thing that Amanda 3.0 said. Maybe insurance can make an exception. Can you get documentation from your doctor or neurosurgeon? Definately, the low-carb diet should get those 10 lbs off. Maybe try doing a 1000 calorie low-carb diet and make sure to get all of your water in. You can track your calories on sparkpeople.com. I started this on Wednesday as my preop diet and I already lost a few pounds. Good luck!! Keep us posted
  6. April 4 is my big day!! Started my preop diet on Wednesday and had all my hosptial preadmissions testing today. My nerves are kicking in, but still 100% optimistic. Love this site!!
  7. Wow, this is becoming really real for me now. Had my preadmissions testing in the hospital and met with anestheoligst(sp?). I needed a chext x-ray, EKG, and blood work. They also told me all about what they will do presurgery. My nerves are definately starting to kick it. However, I am still 110% optimistic. Day 3 of my preop diet now. Day 1 & 2 went really well, but today I have that nagging diet Headache that I usually always get when changing my eating habits. How's everybody else doing today?
  8. Awesome!! Now just to hear the words you are waiting for . Good luck!
  9. Hi, My surgery date is scheduled for April 4. I don't know how to get over the aspect of hairloss. That's a tough one. The only thing I am able to do is mentally prepare myself that this might happen. I have talked to my hairdresser and he said we can always do extensions or hair clips if it would happen. Plus, it grows back. You really seem torn on what to do. It it a big step to take. I, myself, am just sick of the yoyo dieting. I lost 100 pounds on Weight Watchers, but put it all back on. I can do a diet, but can't stick to it. That's my problem. So I just need to go a little further and have the extra tool of "the sleeve." Really, really take your time and do what research you need. You don't want to regret your decision. Good luck! I hope you find the answers you are looking for. This is an awesome site. Oh, one last thing . . . double check with your insurance first to make sure they cover and their requirements. I had to be at least 35 BMI with one comortality or 40 BMI with no comortalities. Courtney
  10. Hi Laura, Wow, April 1 is coming up fast! Are you on preop diet? Mine is April 4. I feel all I do is sit on the computer and read to prepare for everything because my nerves are starting to kick in a little bit, but in a good way . Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! Courtney
  11. Hi Sabrina4you, How did your appts go?
  12. Hi FannyF, I'm not sure why it's not letting you. I sent you an invite yesterday to join. I just tried again this morning, but it said invite already sent. Let me know if you got it. If not, I'll try to find out why and get you on. I'm assuming you will receive a notifcation of an invite. Double check your notifications. Talk to you soon!
  13. That exact same thing happened to me. I was tentatively schedule for April 4 and my preop diet was about to start. I was calling the insurance company for a week and they said they haven't received anything. On Monday (of this week), I called my surgeon's office. Tuesday the surgery coordinator called back that morning telling me everything was in and they had it. She said that sometimes it's not noted in the system until it is up for review. On that same day, two hours later, I received a call that I was approved. The next day is when my preop diet started. Good luck!! Hang in there!!
  14. Maybe it's the publicity thing.
  15. The only way you can receive post notifcations from this group is if you hit the follow button. It will then ask you how often you would like to be notified. You can select your preference then. You will then need to hit the "group discussion" tab on the left-hand side. Once you get into the discussion page, please select "follow this forum." Sorry for the update! I'm new at this and learning as I go. Thanks!
  16. Oh yes, Carly, I completely understand! My husband's family doesn't know anything either and I'm planning on keeping it that way. I sent you an invite to the group. Did you get it?
  17. There is going to be a lot of anxiety going on until my surgery date. Yesterday, I started my diet and I was supposed to eat 1000 calories. Well, at the end of the day, I only ate 680. It's just my nerves! I want to be so good on this preop diet to make everything easier for my surgeon, that I'm afraid to eat anything.
  18. Oh no, that stinks ! My immediate family members know that I am getting the surgery, but I have told anyone else (other than my hairdresser). You may want to try to find someone else for support. It may be hard to do it alone, but I'm sure it has been done before. Will your husband be home to drive you home from the hospital?
  19. Hi! Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I will invite you to the group! We all need all the support we can get.
  20. I think your feelings are prefectly normal. Especially, since you are having a revision surgery (I'm assuming you haven't had much luck with the band). You will do great!! Good luck and keep us posted!!
  21. Okay, everyone I think I am going to start an April 2012 sleeve group and invite you all to be in it, and anyone else who will be sleeved in April can join for that extra added support. I will do this in the next day or two. I looked into it and you need at least five people to create a group, we have way more than that.
  22. Good for you! I know it's hard to quit smoking, but it's so worth it. I quit last June. The second day was the hardest. Now, I can't even stand the smell of it. Good luck!! You can do it!
  23. I just ended my first day and did good, although it is only the first day and I'm sure it gets harder! I figure this as part of the surgery and I want to make my surgery as less complicated as possible. I kept calorie count in sparkpeople. I got all my Water in, so I have been in the ladies room alot. We just have to remember our goal in the long run. We got this . . . we can do it together .
