  1. Amazing!! You should be so proud & at 5'10 you sound thin again already!! I'm so proud of you (& jealous!!) I can't wait to get there....thanks for the.inspiration!
  2. I have a serious sweet tooth & I'm 7 weeks out now & it's rearing its ugly little head Anyone have any healthy or at least not completely unhealthy suggestions?? SF popcicles aren't gonna cut it...everything's too artificial tasting!! Thanks (from my scale) That was supposed to be a SAD face!
  3. BC can cause symtoms similar to early pregnancy, so sleeplessness & nausea would definitely be common symptoms, as well as moodiness, since they are changing your hormones & initially kind of tricking your body into thinking it's pregnant. With an increased metobolic rate I can imagine it would be something of a nightmare! Has your Dr discussed any other options you may have? Hope you feel great tomorrow!!!
  4. I woke up on my stomach day 3 & 4 in the hospital. Weird since I'm a side sleeper & the bed was adjusted to a halfway sitting position with feet elevated! Anyway the nurse said as long it didn't cause discomfort it was fine. I find myself on my stomach all the time now in the morning....weird!
  5. A stall is sooo frustrating, isn't it?! I'm 7 wks out tomorrow & I had a 3 week stall that started around 3 wks. I was feeling so discouraged. I went to see my surgeon this last Monday & he seemed perplexed....asked about my eating, exercising, etc. Had zip for suggestions! So, I had been at 285 for weeks & then Tuesday I weighed myself & it was 281. Today it's 278!!!! I could do cartwheels I'm soooo happy!! Hang in there! Seems like the body makes up for lost time..... 7 lbs in 4 days is a good indication
  6. Pre-sleeve I was a diet coke JUNKIE. I'd go all day on nothing but that. I know there are many opinions on the topic of drinking soda post-op..........so, what's yours? I'm dying to start nursing a kids cup's size of one!
  7. I use a 1/3 measuring cup. It works for me Also if I'm eating fish - which I do daily - it is usually pre-measured portions that I eat 1/2 of a small amount (like 2oz of a 4 oz peice). I should add that I use a 2tbs spoon for something heavy like hummus.
  8. Hi Leederz ! I actually saw a recipe for this under the recipe sharing thread earlier today.....you should check it out! Sounds so good Let me know when your making it & I'll come over haha!
  9. I am just like you!! I thought I was broken! No real "full" feeling. I just eat tiny portions & if I burp, I quit. Bedhead, I've had that feeling too....the shakes, slime, etc!!! It sucks so bad. Mine is if I eat something that doesn't agree with me, but just how you described. This thing is working for you & I know you've had a tough time so YAY for the little victories!!
  10. My current fave is 1/4 of a whole grain Flatout flat bread w/ cream cheese, capers & smoked salmon. It's so delish! And tons of protein!!
  11. For the first 4 weeks I had many days where I regretted it. I was throwing up daily, it hurt to even drink & to add insult to injury I had a 3 week stall. I felt like I'd made the biggest mistake in my life......BUT I'm 6 weeks out now & these last 2 weeks have been soooo much better & the stall has ended & I'm down 40 lbs & feel so much better! I can't wait to see all the amazing things my future holds!!!

  13. I too have always been the "fat friend" so my friends are super supportive! I do have just one friend who is overweight & she is my biggest cheerleader! I feel very fortunate to have such encouraging & positive people around me! Maybe your friend will turn it around once the initial jealousy subsides.a bit
  14. Wow Cludgie!! That sounds crazy!! You're a real trooper!! I am a SAHM but I took 3 wks off "work" My husband took 3 weeks off from his job & did everything. I barely moved. Not sure if it was because I had 3 surgeries in one - sleeve, gall bladder & a hiatal hernia, but I was exhausted! A couple times I slept 20 hours a day! Its different for everyone but I needed every day of those 3 weeks due to extreme fatigue. Good luck!!!
  15. It's soooo frustrating, isn't it! I am 6 weeks out & I lost really quickly the 1st 3 weeks, then.....nothing!! For 3 weeks!! I went to an appt with my surgeon on Monday & even he seemed disappointed! Well on Wednesday I weighed myself & in those 2 days I'd lost 4 lbs. I was sooo excited to see the scale finally move I would have done cartwheels if I could lol!! It can be super discouraging & in the past I would have quit & given up...thank God o couldn't this time! Stay the course sweetie & it will move I promise!! ((Hugs))
  16. I'm only 6 wks out & I can take normal size drinks of water. Sometimes I get really thirsty & chug down a bit & then I have to wait a few minutes to resume drinking but I'm pretty "normal". And fyi I could hardly.swallow tiny sips in the beginning
  17. I am wondering what restriction feels like for everyone else. I never feel anything like what I formally associated with "full".....never. I usually quit eating something because I measured it out & it's gone. The only other indication I have is I start burping (eww). Should I feel full or close to full? It feels somewhat unsatisfying to never feel like I've eaten a meal. Anyway, just curious if I'm doing this right? P.S. I appreciate all of you who answer my endless litany of questions, for your time, thoughts, insight, patience & kindness I sincerely thank you!!
  18. Do you make the coffee or just mix in the granuals? Do you use milk or Water?? LOL, sorry for the interrogation!
  19. Any of you pro's know of one? Would love to add some protein to my morning cuppa! TIA!!
  20. I'm 6 weeks out & can't live w/out caffeine. My NUT & my surgeon gave me the ok on it. I hate milk plain but to add some protein to my coffee I do q latte more or less.....1/2 coffee & half milk over ice. At Starbucks I add sf vanilla...sooo good. Today I added a 1/2 scoop of vanilla whey protein. It def made it taste grosser, but I need the protein & it was better than a shake I've had no probe with gas & I personally think it helps get a bm get going so that's a bonus for me (sorry if tmi) !!
  21. My surgeon said 6 weeks!! Now I feel gipped!!!
  22. Thanks for the feedback...very informative!! Can't wait to hit the road rollin'
  23. I am trying to kick start a very sedentary lifestyle! Last year I hurt my back very badly & went from an active mom who takes her kids to the zoo, museum, park, etc. 6 days a week to a mom that sits in the front or back yard everyday *watching* my kids play. I've been walking more starting very recently, but I'm only going about a 1/4 of a mile. I know biking may be a bit easier & my kids would love long rides w/ mom....but at 283 I'm worried about flattening the tires or my ample bottom not fitting on the seat. Any suggestions on style or brand of bike I should look into.....or should I stick with walking until I lose a bit more?
  24. Down 1# back to where I was about 10 days ago I'm only 6 weeks out & starting to worry that the sleeve wont work on me!!!! Arghhh!! How can I eat 600-700 cals a day & not lose ??!?
