  1. I had the revision as I still had another 90 pounds to lose and my band was at the max fill. I was constantly vomiting after eating due to the high fill and I was not able to lose any more weight. The doctor told me that they should have probably done the sleeve in the first place due to the amount of weight that I had to lose. Good news but was a little too late.

I had to pay out of pocket as my insurance refused to pay for the removal of the band or the sleeve. If I was looking to lose weight I think that I would stay far away from the lapband as it is on its way out in my opinion. And it has caused nothing but problems for many people.

I would have the sleeve again in a heartbeat.

  2. When I get to feel like I want to graze or feeling down and out I get out. I get out of the house. Go for a walk, sit and people watch, take a nice long bath, do a puzzle......I find the secret to my not grazing is to keep myself busy with something,.......anything. Get a hobby or take up an activity.

  3. I waited a week until I drove and that was just local. I live in a condo so did not have to worry about the lawn but I would say a month and listen to your body. As for house cleaning it depends on what you mean. Anything that does not require any heavy lifting would be fine. I would be careful with vacuuming as you use a lot of stomach muscles. I guess trial and error would be a good rule of thumb. If it hurts then stop.

  4. I just have a question about the Protein shot. It says that it has 600 calories and .....how many grams of Protein are in one shot. Have never used them and wondering. I know that you are not to consume a huge amount of protein at one time as the body can only absorb so much at a time.

Thanks Iowa, as of this morning I am 168 and am going to try the 600 experiment. I have to remind myself that this won't actually hurt, because I don't feel hunger. It will be interesting to note all of the emotions I feel, that will be brought up, like anxiety. Today I will have one egg, one protein shake made with Water, one container of greek yogurt with walnuts, and one protein shot. 600 cals, 79g protein, 21g carbs. After work I will run 2 miles and lift weights, let's see what happens!

  5. Sounds good but I have the noodles. I do not eat that large of a serving and your body does need some carbs. Just like you body needs some fats. You can not deny yourself everything and if you eat in moderation then you can have these and feel like you are treating yourself.

  6. It is truly sad and I do hope that he can get some much needed help. I was teased when I was a child and mean things were said to me all the time. This was mainly done by children but as we know children grow up....oh should I say they get bigger. Some people just never grow up and they always speak before they think. I think that this is sad and give a bad example to youth. It is no different than bullying in my book.

Some people are just idiots and do not take others, others lives or other feelsing into consideration. Truly sad all around.

  7. Wow.............this just shows that there is a great difference in diet plans given out by doctors. I am still not allowed to eat lettuce and the bagel....no way. To me it looks like you are consuming a lot of carbs and sugars. I know that most of my diet is still Protein, veggies and some fruits. I am now 4 months post op and according to my diet plan the lettuce and that much bread are still way out there. I also think that if you get away from the z bar there are other more things with a great food value for you to eat.

If you are at your goal weight and can maintain your weight at this level then I say go for it. I know that I could not eat what you eat at this point and I still have a ways to go to reach my goal.

  8. Do not spend a lot of moeny on a scale. Once you weight on a scale then any weight loss should be fairly accurate. Also just to be make you aware your scale can become your enemy after weight loss surgery. If you weight daily and are expecting a weight loss everytime that you get on the scale it is very easy to get discouraged. I have gone to weight bi-weekly. This way if I do not lost much in a few days or 1 week I do not get down on myself and start to eat things to make me feel better......like i used to do in the past.

  9. I guess that I will find out soon enough. I have been off work since Nov 2011 and just had to let my cobra coverage lapse as I could not longer to afford paying the premiums. I never thought that I would have this much trouble finding another job in the medical field but alas. I am just startiing at looking into getting a cheaper basic plan through another company. I am not sure how this will affect my getting a plan but will keep you posted. I know that about 5 years ago when I was between jobs I tried to get insurance and I could not due to my weight, blood pressure etc. And now that I am in much better health I am sure that the insurance companies will have another way to screw me over.

  10. Wish I had a support group but I was told that I was not welcome at the one that I used to attend because I went to Mexico and had the band to sleeve revision. I am doing fine on my own but it sure would be nice to sit and talk to others and listen to how they feel and what problems, issues and successes that other have had on their journey.

  11. I thnk that you are having the pre-surgery jitters and starting to second guess your decision. I know that it happened to me and I was also having trouble sleeping and kept thinking about if this was really what I wanted. For me it was a little easier as I had the band and I was vomiting all the time and I still have about 100 pounds still to lose after losing about 90 pounds with the sleeve.

I am so glad that I went through with the surgery. The band is gone and I do not vomit at every meal because of food getting stuck. I have lost 42 pounds on my way to goal and I am feeling great. My back, knees, feet and all of me I guess does not hurt anymore. I am off a couple of my medications and can actually eat without vomiting. This is a change of your life and eating habits but your stomach is the one that you have to listen to. It will tell you when you have had enough. I never feel hungry but I know that when it is noon I need to eat something.

I think your feelings at this time are normal and you will also have second thought after you have the surgery but I think that if you are looking at losing your excess 80 pounds that this is your solution. Prayers to you on your surgery.

  12. Water takes up space in your stomach so if you drink a lot before you eat you will have a hard time getting in your Protein and food. Also if you drink while eating or soon after the food becomes watered down and will go through your sleeve faster and not give you the full feeling. It is very hard getting used to as I think I used to drink just as much as I ate before I had my band and then the sleeve.

  13. I was freezing after my surgery on Dec 11, 2012. It lasted about 2 months and then seemed to go away. It has to do with the changes that your body is going through. I just wore lots of sweatshirts and warm socks. Always sat around watching tv with a blanket on also.

  14. You will not become anorexic from this surgery. I am sure that this surgery had been done in several ways before the surgical community settling on this type of procedure and what is done. If this was reversible then you would just gain all the weight back. Just like when they take the lapband out or take all of the fill out......people gain the weight back. If you have not had this surgery you might want to consider the band if you want your stomach back and something reversible.
