    Not Wls Or Vsg Related

Okay I had to look up Colorados Headlines, I haven't looked at the news lately and I am assuming you are talking about the mass shooting at Aurora Theatre. How Horrible! I cannot understand how a man can do something like this, I saw James Holmes pic and I just want to SMACK the smirk off his face. My prayers are with Colorado and her lost loved ones. God Bless.
  2. Typically higher BMI/Weight lose faster till the BMI hits around 40 then it levels out and the loss is slower, this is what my surgoen states, but also everyones body/chemistry is different so this will not reflect everyone.
  3. Personally I think you look Fantastic!! Everybody here has already given all the advise you could need but I thought I would leave a note to say your doing great and you have come so far that you should enjoy life and your new look! Take Care!
  4. I use the Isopure Zero Carb Double Dutch chocolate and I was able to finish 1 cup in 30 minutes in the morning (31 grms protein and really good) and 1 cup in the evening In the first 2 wks post op. You should drink as you feel comfortable after a few more weeks you will be able to drink a lot better.

    Is Something Wrong?

The stomach size is also a factor, if your stomach (prior to surgery) was longer than your mothers than your sleeve will be longer and maybe able to fit a little more in than your mom. I had this question too so I went on youtube Dr. Alvarez's site and he explained and gave a diagram of why some people can have intake more food or water after the sleeve than others. It was very helpful.

Help! How Do I Get Past This Stall?

I am 3 months post-op and I think I have hit my first stall, I have not lost anything since 7/13 and actually I go from 200 to 201 back and forth all week. I would have to stall right before I get the chance to get under 200lbs. I can't complain though I had 3 full months of a constant weight-loss. So I am going to practice my patience.
  7. I packed everything I thought I would need, toothbrush/paste, comb, brush, lotion, change of clothing, nightgown, exrta undies, etc, etc, etc. When I got to my hospital room they had a goody bag with Everything I needed plus special undies for when you have surgery. I didn't need to pack a thing other than my phone and clothes to go home in and actually I didn't even need the phone cause the cell phone service/connection was horrible. My hosptial was Reall Good To Me!

Help! Last 10 Pounds And What I Must Do...

I'm not a huge yogurt person either nor does fruit really entice me when I really want a snack so when I just have to I try to snack with protein, I do one slice of whole wheat or Rye Toast with 1 teaspoon of Skippys 25% fat peanut butter and it really hits the spot and at only about 125 calories and it fills me, I usually don't eat the who slice so the calories are less. I also use Skim Plus Milk, its creamier and way more tastier than regular skim milk but same calories and 11 grms of protein per cup and so good really cold.

    Sugar Addiction

I wish I could be content with only fruit. The only treat with fruit that I consider a desert is baked peaches which I love but I always have to add a little sweetener w/cinnamon so they are not so tart.

    Sugar Addiction

I am a sugar addict myself and though this surgery did not stop me from wanting sugar the amount I ingest has diminished immensely. I will have one or two hersheys kiss in the evening just to get my little chocolate in (I'm a major chocoholic) but it seems I'm basically good with that. I use a little of the sugar-free syrup (sweetener) in my Protein shake so that gives me a little sweetness too. The only thing I really can't eat after this surgery is bread, Pasta, rice etc. I don't want that kind of food anymore which is great for me cause I was a carb junky too, I do wish that the surgery took away my sugar issue but I guess you can't have everything. I can say I don't eat not even close to what I used to consume so I am not guilty for the little I do eat. As for the artificial sweeteners, I know they are not healthy but for me it is a necessary evil Its like when I smoked I didn't eat a lot but when I quit I gain 50lbs in 4-6 months and if it wasn't for my bronchitis I would kept smoking to prevent the weight gain but I picked breathing over smoking and weight. I had this surgery so I can still have a little of what I like to eat I just don't eat it all day long I give myself 5 minutes to enjoy something sweet then move on to something else. I don't think any surgery will take away all of our little demons from poking at us, we have to excercise that will power as well as our bodies!
  11. I have a small stone in my gallbladder and the surgeon wasn't bothered by it, but after the surgery I was giving medication to prevent further stones from forming or the one I have getting bigger.

I Did It The Baked Ricotta!

Looks Great! I made one last week with grilled chicken pieces and, though I only ate a few ounces the rest was gone from my son. He's such a piglet!

    Stupid Scale!

I think you may have to try and fit in more calories, your body can't burn unless it has the fuel and 300-400 calories is definately not enough, you should try getting in at least 600-700. I don't know when you had your surgery I am assuming it hasn't been that long. Maybe you should speak to your dietician.
  14. No Issues whatsoever other than I can't eat over 5oz at a time...Oh thats a good thing LOL

    A Sleevers Baked Potato

I eat turnips instead of potatoes (right now) the potatoe at this time is too heavy and bothers my sleeve but turnips feel just fine and I don't miss the potatoe too much, Also Turnips have alot of vitamins and are very healthy for ya, with a lil milk and some butter YUM!, I have cauliflower but I have not tried them yet, I am waiting for a good moment when I feel like experimenting.

    Crock Pot?

I Love My Crock Pot! My daughter calls it my Crack Pot..LOL Set it and Forget it is my motto and I can make enough food for my family for a couple of days Soups, Stews, pot roast, etc. I like foods where I can throw everything together and cook it all at once, like cassaroles and the like. Its the best way when your a single working mom!

    Planet Fitness?

I was a member of Planet Fitness and I plan on re-joining, since the gym near me is mostly 24 hrs I go when it is not crowded and it has what I need and the people running the gym are pretty nice and very helpful, they have extra classes for a $10-$15 fee but I usually stick with the eliptical and the machines. For the price its the best gym I know of I can't beat $10 a month and it is practically no different from other expensive gyms I have been to. Give it a try, you find you don't like it, you don't go back and you haven't wasted alot of money other than $10 (and I believe $20 start fee), any other gyms make you sign a contract so even if you don't want to continue going (after a month) you are still bound paying the rest of the contract money (which is usually in the hundreds). I have been there. Good Luck

    Home...

Wow! I'm sorry for that bad experience you had, right after surgery they had this pain medication attached to my IV and they said when I feel pain press the button and it will release the medication but when I did I had the worse dry heaves I have ever had and when you have just had surgery on the stomach that is dry heaving, Blahh I thought the rest of my stomach would come through my mouth, but I don't think that is as bad as night terrors, that would freak me out, and after they put me on percocet and that worked great! On the bright side in a couple of weeks when you see that weight start coming off you will find how some of that pain was worth it. I kinda look at it as labor, when the baby is out you forget all about the pain and look at the achievement you have made. Best of Wishes and I hope you healing will be smooth sailing for now on! Welcome to the Losers Bench
  20. That totally $ux! I would be Soooo Fuming myself if that happened to me, I'm so sorry to hear that especially when you had to pay for them I know these test cost a bundle. If you have a receipt than the doctor you had the EKG with should have a copy? My doctor keep a copy for my file as well as sent one to my bariatric doctor/anestesiologist. I hope this works out for you! Best Wishes

    The Egg

Since my surgery eggs are the easiest thing for me to eat. But in the first month I barely ate one egg (w/cheese) as you heal you will be able a whole egg. Takes time.

    Need Some Good Opinions

This procedure has not been around for 10 yrs maybe she is referring to another bypass surgery she must be getting confused with some other surgery. I sure wouldn't have done this if this would've been an issue. The staple line cannot burst unless it is severely over-filled and for me that is an impossiblility. I feel uncomfortable after 6oz of food much less eating to a point of bursting.

    Constipation

I've tried everything and now I am on Ex-Lax it works at first then it don't like everything else. If anyone finds a miracle to this issue, please let me know..
  25. I think your count is very realistic, I've seen on this web-site people who weighed more and lost more than that. I think the doctors will give you a basic weight loss expectation but its up to you how far you are willing to go. I wouldn't worry 'bout what they say, its what your dream is! Don't sweat it..
