candtwalker got a reaction from MandaMom23 in Scale but Non-Scale Victory
I went to my PCM the other day for a check up. She still has the old dinosaur weight scale. I had always wanted to not have to move that huge bottom weight past the 100 mark. I thought by the time I lost that much, those scales would be long gone! But none the less......it happened! 149.25 lbs. I did not have to move that bottom weight!!!!!!

candtwalker got a reaction from kll724 in College PhEd
I have a lot of trouble getting myself to stay with an exercise regimine. I will start then stop, then start then stop, so on and so on. So......I am taken college courses and I have decided to add PE to my course work. I spoke with the instructor and let him know I was really just looking for accountability. He agreed to work withmy so for the next 16 weeks I will be under his direction. I want this to get me in gear to continue on. And if not be will sign up for the next semester.

candtwalker reacted to n2win in My story--banded for 9.5 years.
Wow... didn't those 4cc / ten year old bands pave the way for our "new" & "modern" bands!
Shouldn't we be slightly interested in any & all complications for "future reference" and education?
Note to self.... never ever ever ever ever ever ever post anything about a bad experience on this forum... geez!!
-I just felt like I witnessed a slaughter-
I'm a newbie and reading these brutal replies to someones post is the only scary experience I have had thus far! WOW

Thank yo all so much for all the support. I made it through another day and it is bedtime now! Today was much easier since I had to work it kept my mind off food. One more day of liquids and then I can start my "mushy" phase, I have never been so excited to have tuna fish, lol!

candtwalker reacted to Sojourner in 10cc's in 11cc band
Through my experience, and observing the posts of many on this forum, while it is fairly easy to reach the conclusion that surgeons who do not fill bands aggressively are doing so to maximize their income, the reality is that the slower you fill your band, the more you minimize your chances to have complications from a band which is filled too tight.
My surgeon requires an entire 6 weeks to elapse between fills, no exceptions. That experience made me more aware of how to work with my band, and not to have to have any emergency appointments to unfill my band.
Just another example of how different surgeons approach their practice and treating their patients. For me, slower was better.

candtwalker got a reaction from EJRN in How do you see yourself
I was banded May 14 of 2012. At first I could tell a big difference in myself, but since Jan I have not lost any weight and I feel like I did in the beginning......big. I know it must be phychological. I now wear a size a 12/14, but I feel I look really really big!

candtwalker reacted to kbell2011 in Wedding Ring
So, I'm feeling "naked" at the moment and 8pm can't get here fast enough! I dropped my wedding ring off earlier to get sized! After losing 60 lbs, it had to go from a 5.5 DOWN to a 4.5! Yay!! The small things are exciting, too!!!

candtwalker reacted to 2muchfun in What To Do When Food Gets Stuck?
Here's something that worked for me yesterday. I ate a juicy plum. I'd eaten them before and just lately. I guess I missed a large chunk of skin and it may have covered the portal between the two stomachs. Pressure, pain, discomfort, sliming, weakness, it was all there. I had to go somewhere and I had 45 minutes. After 30 minutes of that very uncomfortable feeling and sliming, I drank 2 large sips of Water and stood on my head with my arms supporting most of my weight.
It worked. Within a minute I was able to flush the rest down with Water and went off to my appointment. I don't recommend this technique but I was desperate.

candtwalker reacted to Ladybandito in Hi, my name is Quahog, and I'm addicted to ice cream....
Or make your own ...
I make this and it is really good.
4-5 egg whites (from pasteurized eggs)
1/2 cup sour cream
Splenda or Truvia equivalent to 1/4 cup reg sugar
vanilla Extract to taste
In metal bowl whip egg whites to foamy, add "sugar" and vanilla. Beat til soft peaks form, fold in sour cream. At this time you could add in fruit or nuts or other add-ins. Cover with foil, put in freezer and stir every 30 mins. Stirring is important, otherwise you'll get ice chips.

candtwalker reacted to MIssy2011 in Where Are You in Your Weight Loss Journey?
I was banded May 18, 2011. I lost 115 pounds in a year and a half. This year I started running, upped my weights at the gym, and had 1 cc of Fluid removed about 6 weeks ago. Since January, I have gained 15 pounds back. But, I can live with that! I am still much better off than I was!!

candtwalker reacted to mrsto in Do you eat the same stuff??
I'm totally with you on this. If I give up all things that I love, it's a setup for failure. And I won't let that happen again, either. I've learned SO much over the gazillion years dealing with this curse

candtwalker reacted to es1120 in Do you eat the same stuff??
I actually eat the same things as before ... even fast food. I have no trouble with any food; I just eat less, instead of a Big Mac, fries and soda, I just get a cheeseburger. I craved a Big Mac not to long ago and ordered one. I ate two bites and was done. I have been slowly and steadily losing weight and I'm happy.
-
candtwalker got a reaction from brianb in Do you eat the same stuff??
Just less of it? I have found myself eating the same types of meals as I used to "preband", just much less of it. I am maintaining my weight where I am happy, so I am not worried about that.
I was just wondering if there are any other banders out there that eat the same things as before the band, just a lot less.

candtwalker reacted to Bandedlauren in Band to sleeve?
Hey there! I talked with my dr and he looked at my band today, he says everything looks great! I am back up to 5.5cc's in my band and he says I should expect to lose about 1lb per week. I was too tight for about 2 months and then too lose for about 3 weeks. Hopefully I am just right now and will start using my favorite tool to help me succeed again!

More schooling than me? Regardless of schooling, at least I would have the common sense to call my doctor if I was puking blood. Just sayin.
