My job is making me fat
chitowngirl replied to chitowngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do feel I can do the 10 minutes an hour especially because I feel it is a priority. Even if it means standing up and marching in place. I've been at my current job for the last 10 years. About half way thru I knew that there was no way I could do this for the rest of my life. I have a typical desk job in a office where I don't get much activity or face time with people. I feel life is too short and valuable to sit at a desk for most of the day. I guess what makes it much more relevant to me is that not only am I confined to a desk, but my office is also very isolated. I got a new lease on life and I refuse to sit back and let it pass me up. -
My job is making me fat
chitowngirl replied to chitowngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here is the link to the article. Literally sitting all day does contribute to obesity. Of course it is not the only factor. http://rockcenter.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/01/09/16431050-obesity-expert-says-daily-workouts-cant-undo-damage-done-from-sitting-all-day?lite -
is sleeve healthy or starvation?
chitowngirl replied to Karishero's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 9 months post op, and I can honestly tell you the first month or two I ate very little. Little by little I've been able to increase my food amounts. What the sleeve does for me is now at 9 months out is it gives me the capacity to eat like a skinny person. I can eat only a sandwich and that is satisfying for me. I don't eat McDonald's, but if I did I would imagine that a happy meal would fill me up. When I go to Wendy's a small chili is sufficient. I love my sleeve. I feel normal again. -
Well plus sizes are made much different. For some reason people can expand an shrink a lot more in plus sizes vs regular sizes. It took me 50lbs o go from 18plus size to a regular 18. Once you leave plus sizes the sizes drop faster an rule of thumb is the smaller size you are the less it takes you to move down a size.

5 months after surgery......
chitowngirl replied to stevedallas's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats!! Keep up the good work. -
Hello I'm from Chicago. I'm more than willing to help out in what I can. I'm nine months post op and -93lbs. I love my sleeve. I really don't go to my support group meetings at my surgeons office. I know shame on me, but I've went a few times and I just prefer to come here and ask away. Besides at the actual support group meetings a lot of people have had gb. So feel free to ask away.

Struggling in hotel room
chitowngirl replied to tzepeda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do they have a pool or jacuzzi you could go in. Go explore the area, try catching a movie. Hope it works out for you. -
I eat 2 boiled egg whites and a piece of turkey sausage. It comes out to 120 calories and 23g of protein, can't beat that. I really much rather eat pancakes every morning, but that's not going to fly. I pretty much eat the egg whites and turkey sausage ever morning Monday thru Friday.

You look kick @ss!!! Keep up the good work.

chitowngirl replied to slimshadee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Shopping at normal stores in the normal section. No more plus sizes for me!!! 2. Getting hit on all the time....even when I'm out with my husband. 3. Actually being able to wear trendy clothes. 4. Finally weighing less than my husband. -
Portion size 6 months out...1/2 unwich?
chitowngirl replied to hm734's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that's fine. I'm able to eat about the same amount. And I feel the unwich was a good choice. I do occasionally eat out, it's a fact of life. Things happen. -
Any Hispanic Sleevers here? Help me
chitowngirl replied to deli89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually still eat a lot of Beans they have Protein and are a good source of Fiber. They are one of the first foods I ate post op. rice has become a treat for me. If I'm in the mood for some ethnic food, I will usually make a guisado in the crockpot. For a snack I will make a quesodilla, I only will eat corn tortillas, but this is only occasional. I live pozole and it seems to sit pretty well with me. I really don't have any restrictions. when I go out to eat I will order tacos and eat the inside of it, caldo de Camaron, or fajitas. I tend to stay away or really limit the greasy foods. If you think about it Hispanic foods to tend to have a lot of protein and veggies, and that is the stuff you want to stick with. This is with all foods in general, you really have to learn how to modify your food selections. If you want a burger try a turkey burger with 1 bun, or baked chicken wings instead of fries ones. When I order an omelet I usually get egg whites only. It really is the little things like that, they make all the difference. Best of luck to you. -
Ok, might have to turn in my man card for asking this....
chitowngirl replied to mrchris's topic in The Guys’ Room
I can totally understand your concern. The last thing you want to be is tall and lanky. I think the martial arts in combination with some weight lifting will give you the bad @ss dude look you once had. Good luck. -
Why are my readings not coming down?!?!?!
chitowngirl replied to bascott73's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do you track your food? Maybe the protein drinks you are drinking contain a lot of sugars, have you been eating something that contains high sugar? Yogurt can contain a lot of sugar if your not careful. Even though you are not eating a lot I would still really watch the sugar content. Hope you figure this out soon. -
You look great!!!

Well I've also been able to shop my closet also. Unfortunately those clothes are old, and while its ok sometimes, I prefer to look a little trendy, especially when I go out with my husband or the girls. Honestly I tend to stick grays and black and grays. Don't get me wrong I love color, but if I wear the same black pants 3-4 times in a week, it is much less noticeable. Same with the blouses, I can pull of a neutral color shirt a lot more than an aqua one. But saying that I don't like to be one who constantly is seen in the same outfit. So I shop clearance racks. Yesterday I got a pair of skinny jeans for $10. Can't beat that, especially because I love the way they look with boots. Because of the weight loss I feel the need to look my best, I guess that's why I really wear the old stuff in my closet, because its old. I've also noticed that I've become quite vain since I've had the surgery. So I usually will buy stuff that cost no more than $15 and it has to be something that I am going to use a lot and can be work at work, or out.

Hair loss blues...baldness
chitowngirl replied to KikiCC's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have the same problem. I had pcos so my hair was already thin. Luckily my hair loss stopped at 8 months. I do use a product called Xfusion, it is sold at Sally's. just for the record I have no financial relationship with the product or the store. It does not really help with regrowth, but it does help cover the scalp. It is very natural looking, and I've not gone without it since I've discovered it. Google the product and learn more no one has been able to tell my hair loss, because of this. Good luck to you. -
You look great!!! Keep up the good work.

Glue on your cuts...
chitowngirl replied to jwhite692's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had glue, what ur feeling is normal. It will go away soon. I found tapping it lightly would give it that attention it needed. -
Yes, it is normal. You will prob get real antsy the days before. Best of luck to you.
