Comment My Doctor Made That I Worry A Little About- Maybe Don't Look At This If Pre-Surgery
chitowngirl replied to CelticHarpist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry I doubt it feels like getting stabbed. The most accurate way to describe the post op pain is I felt like I did 1,000 sit ups and my stomach was soar. -
That's pretty good. I'm 4 months postop and loose about 2 pounds a week and have done so since I had the procedure with the exception of the first week I lost about 7-8 pounds.

I'm 4 months post op and it's getting better, little by little I notice that I can drink more water in bigger gulps.

Wow that sucks. However I would start the 6 month diet just incase your next insurance requires you to have the 6 month diet as that seems to be a pretty standard requirement. Good luck to you.

Bcbs Of Illinois Hmo Question About Medical Policy...
chitowngirl replied to makemyownluck's topic in Insurance & Financing
Ok, this is blue cross's policy, however because you have an HMO there is another factor you have to take into consideration, your managed care dept or IPA. The managed care dept which is not bcbs is actually the people who would be approving the procedure. Hmo's are a very confusing concept, but if you do have your weight history and weight loss attempts, and do all the requirements it should be relatively smooth. Usually your request for surgery will either be reviewed by the managed care nurse or their medical director. 15 years healthcare experience Feel free to pm if you have additional ?'s -

Has Surgery Changed Anyone's Marriage? Good Or Bad
chitowngirl replied to 303Gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the Surgery can magnify things such as if you have a happy marriage post op you will feel your surgery is even better and vice versa. Me and my husband still eat out 1-2 a week, same restursnts we either share or if it's early in the day I'll have a whole order and save it for the rest of the day. I've noticed since I've been making better decisions, my husband has also been making better decisions also. Every time were together people compliment both of us on out weigh loss. I've always liked bike riding and now I've gotten my husband into it, and he bikes to work everyday. Couples grow and evolve together, it you foster it properly so will your marriage. Good luck. -
Protein Shakes Only Twice A Week?
chitowngirl replied to Look@meitsEmily's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree that she prob wants you to start developing healthy eating habits now. My nut says drinking protein shakes is fine immediately post op, but as soon as we are able she prefers we consume our calories via food. I feel it is a good concept as I don't really care to supplement my food for protein drinks. -
Looking over your diet it looks more like a maintenance diet. I'm with everyone else here, up your protein and lower your carbs. Not to say you can't have any, but you really have them moderately, as opposed to as much as your having them now. Especially since you want to still lose weight.

Where To Shop For Clothes
chitowngirl replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I always hit TJ Maxx and Marshall's, I can easily find shirts for $5 on their clearence racks. I also have been going to the cheaper stores such as dots, rainbow, ect. There u can find pretty cheap and trendy clothing, the clothes don't last long, but I really can't get much wear out of them anyway. I have 2 pair of work pants dark neutral and I wear them all week, and just switch up my shirts. Good luck. -
I Want To Cry... :(
chitowngirl replied to gelen's_change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aghh.....girl I feel your pain. Whenever anyone feels me they're starting the process I always suggest they start a supervised diet just in case. A word of advice do not do or say anything to sabatoge your doctors recommendations. My doctor told me to exercise 5x a week, and on one of my visits I told him the last 2 weeks I was only able to exercise 3x a week and I got denied because of that and had to do another whole 6 month diet. Well good luck, and trust me time goes by faster that you think. -
Revised Goal Or Giving Up? W/ Pics
chitowngirl replied to LacieMC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First of all good job, you look great. You look good, do you look overweight nope. You look fine, however if you are questioning your follow thru on your goal I'd say meet half way. Try and loose the 10 pounds that your hubby suggested. Also instead of jogging have you tried any weight or resistance training. I've heard that tends to help people. Good luck. -
Yup.....I get that a lot too. It doesn't bother me. I get more annoyed when people ask me how much I've lost. That's such a personal thing to reveal, I don't have a problem posting it here but I do feel awkward giving my weight loss numbers to some skinny person who prob doesn't relate at all to my struggles.

Low Carb Diet Vs Meal Replacements
chitowngirl replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do the low carb, because I really don't like to eat too many processed foods. My nut encourages eating healthy nutritious food, so that what I tend to follow. -
