    Stuck In Neutral

For sure. I'm glad I could help. But to add insult to injury... becasue of their slow response throughout, I was authorized two weeks later than I could have been. And becasue of that two week delay, I bumped heads with the Doctor's scheduled two week vacation. Therefore, my surgery took place one month later than projected. To think, I probably could have been 20+ pounds lighter right now

    Stuck In Neutral

Hi Tiffany, I know your pain. Trust me. Some of the people at these facilities are either A) over worked, or barely working. Who knows, it could be a little of both. I too had to personally handshake the communications between my medical provider and the surgical center. But unlike you, I didn't wait patiently. After they dragged their tails once, I didn't expect anything more. So, from that point forward I held their hand for every process. And it's a good thing too. When it finally came to getting the approval for the surgery, the center sat on their hands for two days. After two days I picked up the stick and called them and informed them to submit for approval because my Dr. already cleared me two days prior. Then I kept calling back to see if it was done. The next day I called my provider and they informed me that they never received any request for authorization. Soooo, I called the center and stayed on their head again. Then they wanted to tell me that it was already sent to the provider for approval. But I already had the 411 and so I told them that it was NOT sent over for approval, per my provider. Then they were like, "Ooooo, I'm sorry, I guess it wasn't. Welll, the girl who works on those is extremely busy and it can take her up to a week to prepare that paperwork before she can forward it for approval." WTH!! What are doing, writing a business proposal?! Anywho, two days later I called my medical provider and they informed me that they had received the request for approval. The next day is was approved and so I called the center who informed me that they had not received it yet. I informed them to go to the Web and pull that authorization. Three hours later, it still was not done. So, I had the provider fax that authorization to me and in turn I faxed it to the center. Then they informed me that the person who sets the surgery appointments was "out till tomorrow" Ugggg! Of course I called day and got it done. But that what it takes sometimes.
  3. Hey JGo. Don't worry about the dining out. You can still dine out at the same places. Of course, you may not be able to complete the meal, but that should be the least of your worries. Your focus should now be the conversation anyhow, not the food. And whatever you don't finish, you just take home and finish later. I mean, if it's a really good meal, you get to enjoy it multiple times. As for an all inclusive hotel, again, you may not consume as much at one time, but you will probably be hungry more often than your husband. This may help him incorporate 3-4 small meals as apposed to eating two massive meals like most of us use to do at all inclusive resorts and all you can eat buffets prior to wls. For example, I love the buffets in Las Vegas. But the best buffets are $20. Of course, I can't eat that much food. But I found something that works for me. They have this deal in Vegas that I just found out about. For one price, you can enter and eat at several of the best buffets in Vegas for 24 hours! So, if I purchase this pass at dinner time, I can come back for Breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day. And if I just want a snack, I can enter for that too! Your all inclusive resorts are very similar. But whatever you do, DO NOT sabotage yourself just to make someone else comfortable with over eating. Seriously, in the past I've gone out to eat with others who didn't eat as much as I did, and that did not stop me from completing my meal. Once they were done, the focus was conversation. Once I was done, they wrapped their food and took it home... or not. As for the activity, he'll either join you or not. Only if he is not secure in himself will he have a problem with your activity. Again, DO NOT sabotage yourself. And do not worry about it until you cross that bridge. We all have this same concern. But all you can do is reassure them that they have your heart and love, no matter what.
  4. I can't wait until I'm in the 200 pound club again! Almost there!

  5. Every time I look around or ask around everyone in post-op status has a slightly different post-op diet. Although everyone starts with clear liquids, some start full liquids just a few days after discharge, where others remain on it for over a week. The inconsistency just confirms that there is no real guideline. It's more like a preference of the facility.

Thanks a lot. I'm itching to get into the gym. I'm extremely eager to grab some iron! (lol) I went bike riding a few days ago and felt great. But by doctor gave me a hard time about it. Told me to stick with walking for the first few weeks. (smh) Guess I just need to be patient. But I refuse to experience major muscle loss.

    Hey Guys

Hello all. Thank you for allowing the men (the brothas) to join in on this group :biggrin2:. I am new to this site and still trying to feel my way around. I'm currently scheduled for VSG June 2012. I'm excited while at the same time I must admit that I have some reserves. Nonetheless, this site has helped me in many ways. The success stories and the resources provided are exactly what I've been looking for... all under one umbrella. I've read a few bad experiences, but for the most part, 99% of the stories have been positive. Even the bad stories (in my opinion) will turn around in good time. So as they say... it's all good! Holla!
