    Dr Garcia

Was sleeved by Dr. Garcia March 20, 2012. Can't not say enough good about him, his team, his nurses, the hospital, and the hotel - from Alma the coordinator to my flight home everything was smooth and professional - could not have been more happy then or now - good luck with your choice!!!!!

How The Hell Do You Drink Isopure?

I like the Isopure - I started having it like a snowcone - over crushed ice (yes it was very strange like wiping my tongue with a dry cloth or somethihng) - then I did dilute it with Crystal Light (after 2 days the weird feeling started to disapate) - as I got used to the taste - I soon started drinking straight from the bottle out of the fridge - there are only certain flavors I like the taste of. I do not like Muscle Milk at all. I also do not like vanilla or chocolate - I am going to try some of the nectar flavors soon.

How Slow Should I Be Eating?

I am still pretty new - so others may have more info or suggestions than me - but here is what I do - I am 2 1/2 months out and take very small bites - set utensil down - set a timer for 30 seconds and chew for at least that long - start a 2 minute timer - sometimes more than once per bite if what I'm eating seems heavy or something - take another bite when I'm ready - I never drink while eating I follow the no liquid for 30 before and 30 after a meal - I have not tried bread rice or raw veggies yet - and I don't eat sweets - I have not puked and haven't found anything I can't eat yet - I also don't eat more than 20/30 minutes at each meal - I may get 5 bites I may fewer - I don't know if this has helped at all

    One Week Post Op

I am 10 weeks out lost 48 pounds and am just now going from 20's to 18's - yes my 20s were too big - but some brands the 18 are still tight in the belly - I had a few things in 18s already - my first purchase in a real store (only purchase for clothing since surgery) was at Old Navy I bought some 18 kahki pants - but they are really kinda big - I just needed them for work - now I may be in a smaller size already - I will have to try some things from my closet again!!!

    Traveling To And From Surgery

I was able to to take individual servings of jello and pudding and packets of stuff - they said if it was a special diet we could bring it and consume it in the plane - but they confiscated the muscle milk - no liquids - we flew from KC, MO to San Diego, Ca - I checked the guidelines online for the airline we were flying on. Good luck on your trip!!! Awesome that your sleeve will be free - you will probably get lots of inquiries about that!!

  19. It seems everybody is very happy with the doctor they chose - my friend and I went together to Dr Garcia - was $5000 plus airfare - Alma was our coordinator - he does only 4 surgeries a day - he doesn't do the cattle call thing lol!!! Great doctors great nurses awesome driver fantastic hotel - I can't say enough good about my whole experience I am 10 weeks out and lost 46+ pounds. No complications or pain from minute 1. I have emailed Dr Garcia a few times with progress reports and he has always returned an email within a timely manner - less than 24 hours. Good luck on the decision - it looks like you can't go wrong.

    Dr. Fernando Garcia?

When I was there they were transitioning everybody to the Marriott because of a few complaints about the smoke and some other issues - I had Alma at ready for a change for a coordinator.

    Post Surgery Pain Comparison Question

I have had exploratory surgery and my gallbladder out - I did not have any pain at all from those or the sleeve surgery. When I came out of recovery to my room I moved from the gurney to the bed and thought oh man this is gonna hurt - and it didn't - I immediately got up and walked the hall a few times

9 Weeks Post Op, What Is Your Calorie Intake?

I am about 9 weeks out as well and I only get in about 500-700 cals a day. I also use myfitnesspal on my iPhone and track everything. I have not tried bread, rice, Pasta or raw vegetables yet. I have lost about 45lbs as of last Monday - I will weigh again next Monday. I still don't get hungry and I don't have any cravings to be honest. Sweets we're never my fall before and I don't have them now. See if maybe cutting each meal size down by half and making sure you eat your Protein first helps. I still take 30 seconds or more to chew small bites and wait 2 minutes between bites before continuing on - I also limit myself to eating for 20-30 minutes tops. I don't know if this helped at all!! Good luck with your journey!! Let me know your user name on myfitnesspal and I will add you as a friend.
