Stacy, the pre-op diet is simply to shrink your liver to protect it a little better. I only lost 5 lbs pre-op but was given the go ahead

worrier1
If you read these forums, you'll find several people who are "slow losers"...but they keep losing. The odds are with you though. Do you want to miss the opportunity that it "could" work, compared to the relative small chance it "may not"?

Time Off Work
12 days total. Went back on the 13th day...had no energy, still hurting a bit, but I got through it. It's been 24 days now, and I'm at 97% energy and no pain at all.

hey there
Your youth will help a lot, and so will exercising - but no guarantees on this one.

What's the worst thing someone said to you?
I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes for all of you! I can't believe the way you've been treated by family, friends, and absolute strangers! HUGE hugs go out to all of you!! I've been fortunate in that I carry my weight extremely well, and while I was getting bigger, it was all very proportionate...people just didn't realize how much I weighed. It is very interesting though, that as the weight comes off, NOW people are commenting - telling me they can see it in my face, etc. The woman next door, a friend of mine, told me this morning that all the MEN in the neighborhood are talking about how much weight I've lost!

Some Questions about Sleep After Banding
Pete, if there's any way you can manage it, try elevating the head of your bed by about 3" (books, wood, whatever). My hubby did that for me the first few days and I slept great.

Time for first fill or not?
I know you all have got to be tired of these fill questions, but I'm just not sure. I was banded 2/14, and I'm still losing at a fairly good rate. I still have PBs from time to time, but I've discovered they're mostly my fault - eating too fast is probably the #1 cause, followed by not chewing well enough. I had one last night trying to eat an egg roll (insides, not the wrapper) and orange chicken. After I thought about it, I took much smaller bites, and chewed chewed chewed and everything was fine. For the most part, I'm still on mushies, but occasionally, as noted above, I do throw some real food, just trying to find out what I can and cannot eat. In the morning, I'm eating a full package of Instant oatmeal. I'm drinking full cans of Soup at Hand. I can eat a full package of chicken salad and stonewheat crackers with no trouble at all. I guess I'm eating about 1/2 cup of food at a sitting...every two hours. At that 2nd hour point, I'm simply ravenous and my stomach is growling loudly. I'm currently scheduled for my first fill on 3/15. Should I keep it, or postpone it? Is this kind of hunger every two hours normal? Edit: I forgot to mention that the other night, I was able to eat tortilla chips and guacamole with no difficulty at all. :cry
-
Yes, another "is this normal?" post
What's funny is almost literally, the very next day after that post, the port incision pretty much quite hurting. There is a twinge of pain here and there, but for the most part, the near-constant pain has vanished!

Finally recovered from tummy tuck & Breast Lift
Glad you're feeling better Spydr. If you don't mind me asking, who did your surgery and how much was it? When I get done, I'm thinking TT and BL, at the minimum, and arm lift if I can swing it.
-
What did you feel when you awoke from surgery?
I just felt groggy and my stomach was sore.

Killer Fruit
Definitely the peel. Feel sorry for you...been there, done that I've been afraid to try any fruit yet, but I understand that you should peel anything with a peel.
-
When should you get your first fill?
My doc says no less than 30 days, which is too bad because I'm having to eat a little something every two hours to prevent the most raging hunger I've ever felt! I was banded 2/14 - getting my first fill 3/15.

Banded 1/23/2007
Hi - bread is a problem for many of us. If you must have it, trying toasting it and sticking with the high grain breads. Soda is off limits forever...it's bad for your band. If you're expecting the band to do the work for you, you need to re-evaluate. It's a tool, and you have to learn to work with it Now that I've nagged..Hi! Welcome to the Board!!

Dry Skin
I noticed today that my skin is dry. I believe (from past diet experiences) that this is due to a lack of fat in our diets. Try cooking in olive oil, real butter, something, but get in at least one fat per day.

EGADS WHEN can i SHOWER?
Eh, I kinda peeled my strips off myself at 12 days, if they seemed ready to go. Most were, one wasn't...I gave it a couple of more days and then took it off

DFW Contractors
I haven't been online because our house suffered some damage when the house next door to us burned to the ground on Saturday. :think Can anyone in the DFW area recommend a contractor that they have personally used and been 100% happy with?

scarey news
I've known about my sleep apnea for years, and since I can't stand using the CPAP, it's been left largely untreated. My husband says that since the day of the surgery, since I was sleeping on a slight incline, my apnea isn't as bad as it used to be.

I'm Starving!!!!!
I'm 2 wks post op. If I eat something small every 2 hours, it keeps that ravenous hunger at bay. But boy, if it's 2 hours, 15 minutes, watch out! This is probably my doc told me to eat 5 times a day lol
