Yes and no. If its filled to restrict anything things that are rubbery like chicken, steak, pork, shrimp, scallops don't slide through the band. Things that have fiber or are stringy like broccoli, cauliflower, celery, etc get hung up on the band. So you end up loosening it to eat healthy and then you have no restriction. So you tighten it back up and eat processed food so you have restriction. It's a vicious cycle and I could never find the "sweet spot" is what they call it when you find the perfect fill. It didn't exist for me. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Well, I can speak from both sides as I was a band to sleeve revision. I had the revision because the band didn't work. I never found the proper fill and it was either too tight (food sticking all the time causing vomiting) or it was too loose (allowing me no restriction). Additionally healthy food such as chicken and vegetables with Fiber and fruits with skin got stuck on the band. I found myself eating processed food all the time just so I could eat. It SUCKED!!! I had the band for 3 years and lost 30lbs. I've had the sleeve for 6 months (tomorrow) and I've lost 80lbs. There is NO COMPARISON as far as I'm concerned. I'm loving my sleeve and wish I had done this procedure in 2009. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Houston Sleevers!

League City-South of Houston. Surgery 3/13/12, Dr Scarborough at TLC Surgery. I work inside the loop so a meet up in Houston would work well for me. So if we have a sleeve lunch how will that go down? Let's say there are 10 of us, we can order 5 kids meals to split, no drinks and ask for doggie bags before we leave? Lol! What a riot that would be!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Current weight: 163.4 (Week #1) Halloween Challenge Goal: 153.6 Weeks left in challenge: 7 I'm 28lbs from my ultimate goal so I hope the 9.8 lbs by Halloween is doable. I've heard the last 30 are the toughest to lose. Other Goals: 1. Log food every day into MFP 2. Exercise 4-5 a week 3. Run 3 times per week and work up to 15 miles per week. 12. I too have a desk job and I planned on taking 1 week and ended up needing 2. I was not in pain the 2nd week, but I was excruciatingly weak. I don't mean tired either. I mean weak. To pull the covers over my body was an effort. I lost a lot of blood in the surgery. That combined with not getting all my liquids in I was suffering with extremely low blood pressure 56/40. I went back the 3rd week full time and I should have worked half days. I was wiped out by the time I got home every day and I didn't get much done. My advice would be to tell your boss 2 weeks so they expect you to be gone and if your doctor releases you before that you can go back. It's always easier to ask for the time up front rather than after the fact when everyone is expecting you back at work. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Weight Goal Challenge For New Year's Day

Ok, I'm in. I'm also in the Halloween contest. I would like to be 135 (goal) or a size 6 by December 31st, whichever comes 1st. I'm 166.6 so 31.6 lbs to go in 3 1/2 months. I think I can do it. I'm also training for a half marathon so my fitness goal is also to run 10 miles without stopping and at least a 12 minute mile. I'm only up to 4 1/2 miles at 13 minutes. I have a ways to go. If i keep running tge weight should hopefully come off. Good luck everyone!!!

  21. Love your house and I too love decorating for holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. My husband call me the Griswalds. Lol!
  22. I have 3 straws... I was at my hair salon in November 2011 getting my hair colored and I went into the dressing room to put on a smock. None of them fit. I had to come back out of the dressing room and tell The stylist that they didn't fit. Next thing I know they are all looking throughout the salon for a clean smock that will fit. They couldn't find one so my stylist took his off and gave it to me (he's 6'3" and approx 240). I was 5'5" and 243. Needless to say I was so humiliated. The next month I get a call from my dad who lives alone. He's 400 lbs and 6'3". He says he can't feel his legs (diabetic neuropathy). We go pick him up and he can barely walk. Then he falls at my house and he is so heavy that we can't help him up so we call an ambulance. It takes 3 large men to get him off the floor. Then it hits me. Watching my father in this state is what my little boy will be doing with me if I don't get things under control. I don't want to put him through what my siblings and I have gone through to get my father proper care. It was very eye opening. In January, I start looking into WLS. This same month my little boy asks why we don't have any family photos. I made something up like I just liked taking pictures of him, but the reality is I never wanted my picture taken. This broke my heart. A few weeks into January and I run into a friend who had gastric sleeve surgery and she looked amazing. I decided that was Devine intervention a took the hint. I had my 1st appt later that month and surgery in March. I still have problems with those darn smocks, but now its because they are too big for me. This has been the best decision I have ever made (outside of my marriage and my child of course)! Thanks for reading.
