  1. Mine slipped and I was unable to eat or drink for 5 days, I kept thinking that I was just swollen from throwing up, so I had a barium swallow done which showed complege blockage. I had horrible reflux and was not drinking nothing, so I knew something was not right. I found out in the morning and had emergency surgery that night and had it removed.
  2. I was told that if it is an emergency then the insurance has to cover it. Not sure if it is true..but that is what I was told!

30 months and my band has slipped!

He said in 5 months when I am 250 lbs I will wish I still had it...Yep, that is what my Doctor told me. When I left, no instructions, no prescriptions, no how much time do I take off, no when to take the bandages off or anything about if I have stitches or not, no how do I start eating...nothing. But, I called his office and found out. I will succeed!!!! Sorry, Christina...had to borrow your slogan:-)

30 months and my band has slipped!

Well his office called my around 2 pm and told me to get to the hospital ER. I did and had the band removed around 9pm last night. I am glad that I did and I could not give the band time to move back in place due to not even being able to swallow my own spit. I had total blockage......I had not eaten or drank anything in 5 days. I was dehydrated and the ER nurse tried twice on a vein and then someone else had to try. I lost all the weight in the first year and had started to diet and walk 3 miles a day recently. I have even been taking Adipex. So without the band I will continue to eat right and walk and maybe even get a BowFlex or something of that sort. I am glad that I had the opportunity to get the band, now I won't have the what if's. But, I personally did not want the band put back in place and in 3 more years have to have surgery again. I personally know 5 people with the band and 3 of us has had to have ours removed. My sister still has hers but has to have a leak somewhere every time she gets a fill when they check it it's gone, her dr told her to start a diet plan...........she has not lost anything. I could not handle more than 1 cc after I had lost my weight. I know that I had the smallest band and maybe I just needed a bigger one. But, every one has their preference and I liked my band when I had it and did not have any problems, but I am glad for the worries to be gone. Good Luck to everyone and I will still be around....

30 months and my band has slipped!

I know this may sound weird, but I am tired of the fill, unfill, stress makes it to tight, Dr is only in his office every other Mon and Tues, other than that have a 2 hour drive to see him. I have been to tight too many times and it is hell to get unfilled. Then I am always wondering, is it eroded, has it slipped, am I too tight, do I need a fill? Too much drama with it. I do not want to fix it now and then in another year be back in the hospital with a slip. My husband has had cancer and our medical bills are overwhelming as it is. Now this........I think I am done with it. I am glad that I had it done, it has helped me. I know that I don't want to be overwieght again, but I can't stand this feeling either............ummmm

30 months and my band has slipped!

Had the Barium in February just to have it done, it had been about 1 year since my last one. I am unfilled right now and have not been able to keep anything down. I have talked to the nurse at my Dr's office and I am waiting for the Dr to call me.

30 months and my band has slipped!

I just got back from having a barium swallow and you can tell in the picture. There is NO FLOW AT ALL going through the band. The band has moved and is now horizontal instead of where it was in the Feb. x-rays.

30 months and my band has slipped!

I got a piece of broccoli stuck Friday night and started PB'ing, throwing up from that and I am pretty sure that it was caused the slip being as I just had a barium swallow on 2-20-06 and it was fine. No I did not lose that weight that I wanted to. I still wanted to lose more. If I have it fixed isn't there more of a chance that this will happen again?

    taxes

The main words in this phrase is adjusted gross income. You may deduct only the amount by which your total medical care expenses for the year exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income
  22. I was banded in August of 03; I originally had a fill of 1.8 and that is when I lost most of my weight. Eventually that got to tight and I had to be unfilled. During the past 2 years I have been filled and unfilled; don't remember the amounts exactly. During the Hurricane I had .8 and had to be unfilled and I know that was mainly stress. Then I got filled later, but I have not been able to handle 1 cc. In November of 05 I got a complete unfill due to a surgery I was having. I stayed unfilled for a little over a month. I recently got a fill and am filled to 1cc and I can barely notice a difference. I am scared that maybe something is wrong like erosion, but the again could my stomach have been swollen and it had time to rest and now I can have more of a fill? Thanks everyone!
  23. It is my understanding that the tube is under the muscle and just the port should be able to be "hit" with the needle....am I wrong?

I am so sorry that you had to go thorough all of this. What does 'prestine' mean and why did he have to remove the band?
