I think this normal because I have days that I feel hungry but can't eat but an ounce or two ( I had my sleeve march 26th ) but I can eat more watermelon that goes down very well. Some foods doesn't feel so good going down so I leave those foods alone lol. What you probably shokf do it keep moving and that will keep your mind off of foods. This work to well for me because I'll forget to eat that's not good

Not surprised the US doctor went nuts on you. If they would smarten up along with the insurance companies they would keep us in the USA for surgery! I too am on my way to Mexico this weekend and not concerned at all. Take care of yourself!

Errr... your current BMI is 22.5, and you don't consider yourself in "maintenance" yet? 25 is considered the cutoff for "normal" BMI, and IIRC, under 20 is considered "underweight" for women (I'm going by memory, so I may be off on the underweight bit).
It's your business, not mine, but I'm always sort of startled to see people in the normal, healthy weight and BMI range still considering themselves overweight! Many of us had BMI's of 40, 50, or more, so considering 22.5 "overweight" in any meaningful sense is baffling to me.
But -- your body, your choices, so I'll shut up at that

Well, you're right -- it's not weighing yourself that's the problem. You could weigh yourself every five minutes and it's not like it would be bad.
It's just that most of us obsess over the number on the scale. Towards the end of your weight loss journey (when your BMI starts to get closer to that magical "normal" figure), your week-by-week (and sometimes even month-by-month) weight loss can and will sometimes be eaten up by an hour-by-hour fluctuation due to Water weight, going (or not going) to the bathroom, what you just ate, and so on. As a result, the actual number on the scale becomes almost meaningless from the perspective of tracking your overall fitness. That being said, if you can avoid the trap of obsessing over the actual number, and learn to use some science and math to plot the trend over time (so that you can see the overall downwards trend, despite all the bumps along the way), you can still do just fine weighing yourself weekly. I wouldn't really advise anyone weighing more than weekly since the information becomes pretty useless for us.
Most people just don't have the self-discipline to not freak out over a slight blip on the scale, which is why I think weighing yourself monthly is about perfect. That's a long enough time to "average out" some of the bumps in the road, and short enough that you're not letting a bad trend get too out of control.

I agree that IF you can go monthly, DO IT! The first couple months weighing in weekly might be nice as you typically see drops, but when you hit stalls or your weight loss slows down to 1, 2 lbs per week, its tough mentally. I think weighing in monthly would allow you to focus on the overall and you might not even realize you had a stall, if you did.
That being said, I am a once-a-week weigh-er lol. For a long time I weighed every day, but not on purpose. Before I moved I exercised or played with my sister on our wii fit, and that weighs you automatically (until I finally figured out how to skip it) and it drove me nuts! I actually would make my sister (she was 5...) push all the buttons etc until it was past that point, but that didn't work for long because she started to read so she'd just tell me what the number was lol. Anyways, weighing in every day drove me nuts. I wish I could go longer than once a week, but I'm hooked! I would have to throw the scale out and go somewhere to weigh in to break the habit now.

anngee reacted to Rico in 16 Weeks: Putting My Sleeve To The Test!
I want to make something very clear before i start. This is just a one day test .. a test to see what my sleeve can and can't handle at 16 weeks. I do not condone anything of what i am about to share. This is a test and should be used only as a source of information. I am doing this so you won't have to!
So at 16 weeks out i want to see what my sleeve aka "Bananaman" can handle in terms of type and amount of food.< /p>
Two tests: Sodas and fast food
** NOTE: My findings are short and to the point ... If you would like more details about each test please send me a private message and i would be very happy to share it with you.
    Test 1: Sodas
I had three 330 ml diet cokes throughout the day. Of course i could only drink about a third each time before feeling full.
Verdict: It was not uncomfortable. On each try the soda went down fine and stayed there. It felt "fizzy" on the way down but after a few seconds it was okay. It tasted a lot sweeter than it used too before VSG and that to me was a big turn off. Although it was fine on the sleeve i'm not going to want to have anymore.
This finding was based on Diet Coke. Other brands and flavours could have a different outcome.
Test 2: Fast food- McDonald's chicken McNuggets + KFC + Burger King's Junior Whopper
At about 2pm i had some chicken McNuggets.
Verdict: I could only eat four pieces with BBQ Sauce. I was surprised because it felt normal like any other day only quantity was effected here. I didn't have trouble swallowing the chicken or acidity issues with the BBQ sauce.
At 5pm i had KFC. I ordered a dinner Box (three pieces of regular chicken).
Verdict: Horrible! The worst feeling ever! I couldn't finish one piece. It was oily and i had major acid re-fluxes! The food wouldn't stay down and had slime for about 15 mins after eating.
At 8pm it was time for Junior Whopper from BK.
Obviously, to try and make this test as realistic as possible for sleevers i had to remove the bread on top but left everything else on it.
Verdict: Couldn't stand it. It was so heavy i couldn't keep it down. I was full from the first bite and it took me ages to chew. It really wasn't pleasant at and as with KFC i also had acidity issues and slime.
I know there is a ton of information and many testimonials on this forum about the information i just shared with you but i just wanted to contribute my personal experience.
Many members might say "you shouldn't have done this test" or "why put your sleeve through all this .. not worth it" etc... Well they are right but i think it is well worth it if it could help people answer their questions.

So, I've been trying to be good on the shopping side. I guess my biggest love of shoes is greater than my love for food....thankfully that one is finally under control...thank you sleeve.
Today I had to return a pair of heels that I really didn't like, and I exchanged them for a pair of sandals since I have lost my other sandals to weight loss.
But, being bored and tired of working and studying I ended up in a department store trying on shoes for 1.5 hours. I finally picked on pair of red stacked heels...the were cute and would go nicely with jeans. Did I mention I love shoes? (yeah, I've probably purchased 8 new pair in the last two months)...bad, bad. But it's such a dream to finally be able to wear beautiful shoes again and not just one's that fit my feet.
But it didn't stop there. I decided to try on some designer jeans. I pulled a size 16 and they were too big. The sales lady kindly brought me a size 14 and oh yeah...they looked fabulous! Then, I walked over the the Calvin Klein's and decided to try my luck. My gosh...the outfit fit and it was on-sale!!!!
I really don't know how to behave having the ability to buy "regular" clothes. For over 20-years I've only shopped the women's section. But now this is just crazy. I have to be careful I could really begin to love shopping for the 1st time in my life.

Because my BMI was higher I had to start the Optifast Diet (5 shakes, 1 bar) per day on March 14th and my surgery isn't scheduled until April 16th. So far so good, but man that's a long time!

Ok day two of liquids, not to bad except co workers have to sit beside me with their fries and burgers. How rude and yes they know what I'm doing. They will fill differently when I'm healthier than them so ha ha. I found that I miss chewing. So I chew on a Popsicle to help with that. My stomach is growling really loud now. I'm going to make me something to drink now.

Just about every surgery in a hospital under a general anesthesia will require you removing everything and going in with just a gown. It is really nothing to worry about. First, they aren't looking. Second, they've seen it all! No worries.

My husband walked behind me last night and stopped and hugged me and said "dang! You ARE getting skinny! (I'm still 300 lbs, mind you....) He's envisioning the 42 y.o. hottie he's gonna have on his arm! He's a skinny boy too. He knows that I'm over the moon crazy for him, so he doesn't have any weird issues about me losing weight. He just wants me to be healthy for him and our boys. He enjoys my company and wants me to go hiking and camping with all 5 of us together. My weight was a hindrance to our family life sometimes, so he's really excited for me and for us. And we also work out together at the Y, and have for some time. If you can speak openly to your husbands, and work these things out, life will be beautiful. I pray this for all of you with spouse non-support issues.
