  1. I'm a single sleever. Sleeved just over a month ago (4/11/12). Have been single most of my life. No children.

I have noticed some men checking me out. No dates yet. I'm ready but nervous about dating. It's been awhile. I love my new sleeve and more active lifestyle. My self-esteem and confidence is steadily improving as the lbs drop.

Looking forward to hearing your stories, tips and advice as we all venture into the dating pool :)

  2. Hey Ursiboo72.... Congrats! Yes its only that one that brings me to the ooohhhhs lol. I have not weighed myself yet. Is, it still hard to get your liquids in

Hey THYCK747 ... I'm able to drink more liquids. It improves every day. Forcing myself to drink more. I decided not to weigh again until my appt with my nutritionist next wednesday. Hopefully I will see a loss.

  3. Was anyone still in pain one week out. My incinsion on my left side is the still very painful!

I am 8 days postop and I still have pain with my left incision. The doctor told me that the incision on my left side is the one used to exit my removed stomach. So, I think it will take longer to heal than the others.

I'm going back to work tomorrow. Still get fatigued quickly, so, my sister is driving me to work. Thank God I have a desk job and don't need to move around too much. I have been taking small walks each day but I surprised how quickly I get tired. Before the surgery, I was walking 3-4 miles a day. I know I will slowly work myself back to that routine.

  4. Hello it's Hope, I was a day ahead of you in TJ. I had my daughter with me. Anyway same issues here but I figured out the warm liquid thing a couple of days ago. I flavor it with lemon it helps it taste better. I started on creamy Soups yesterday they cramped me bad the first day but today going down smoothly. Just hang in there.

Hi Holly! I'm glad to hear you are doing well. I like adding lemon and lime to my Water. It definately tastes better. I will start cream soups tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it :)

  5. Thank you all for the feedback. I realized I need to make a bigger effort to sip more liquids throughout the day. I know I was starting to exhibt signs of dehydration (dry mouth, headache, fatique). Yesterday, I sipped a mixture of warm and cold liquids. I also had 6 oz of vanilla greek yoguart. I felt much better last night.

I purchased a new Water bottle that has oz. measurements up to 64 oz. So, I know if I drink that bottle by the end of the day I will have met my liquid requirement. I keep the bottle with me at all times and take sips. This really is the key for fulfilling the liquid intake. I will admit I was being a bad patient previously. Lesson learned.

  6. Hello, I am one week postop today (4/18). I am having problems getting my liquids. My doctor's instructions for week 1 was to consume 3-4 oz of Fluid for every hour I am awake except during meal time.

I am barely consume 10-15 oz the entire day! I am worried that I may become dehydated or my weight will stall or gain. I try to sip throughout the day but my new sleeve is very sensitive and I have a slight pain every time I sip liquids. The pain goes away after a couple of seconds. I think it is do to the digestian. Also, I am still dealing with gas pains from the surgery.

    Any advice is much appreciated.

  7. Hey Ladies! i'm sleeved and well. My experience was simply amazing!!! No complications, nasuea, etc. Just a little fatigue. Dr. Garcia and his staff were so friendly and attentive. The put me at ease from the time I was picked up by the driver Samuel. This surgery was the best medical experience I have had in my life! I felt like a VIP. The care was so personalized. Dr. Garcia and his staff take pride in doing a job well down. My lab work, prep and procedure was very extensive. They want to make sure they are aware of any possible complications. Dr. Garcia took his time performing my sleeve. I was the only surgery that day. He even took a picture of my removed stomach and it looks lovely. lol I know that is weird to say but when you see my removed stomach you get an i sight into how professional he is. The sutures and staples were done with care and precision. I will post pictures soon. I have a slide show that I will assemble for you all to view. The anethesialogist, Dr. Cabera, was phenomenal. I was told he is the best in Tijuana and I believe it. He gave me lots of meds and I never felt sick, dizzy, etc. I work up from surgery two hours later feeling like my old self but better. I slept alot the first day but did get up and walk. The really stress the importance of walking. It helps remove the gas. The patient care coordinators and nurses constantly checked on me but allowed me to rest too. I highly recommend Dr. Garcia to eveyone! You will not be disappointed. My sister accompanied me and the patient coordinator Melissa gave my sister a goody bag with fruit and Snacks so she would have something to eat once the restuarant closed. They also gave me a bag with meds, gatorade, Water, gauze, tape, etc. I have a cd with the video from my upper g.i. test. I can swallow fine. The post-op hotel stay at the Marriott Tijuana was so luxurious! The bed was heaven and my sister loved the food. Plus, the hotel gave Dr. Garcia's patients 3 free bowls of chicken broth a day, 2 bottles of water and 2 popsicles. All complimentary!!! I could go on and on about how fabulous my experience was, I will just say... Go experience it for yourself!! Cheers

  8. Hello, I will be sleeved by Dr. Fernando Garcia in Tijuana, Mexico on April 11. I'm starting to get nervous (and excited).

I was wondering how those who were sleeved by Dr. Garcia in March or in earlier months are doing. I would love to hear some updates. It would help alieve some of my aprehension.

I am grateful for this site. It is so informative and supportive.

  9. Hi BarbieB. I am going to see Dr. Garcia for sleeve on April 9, 2012 - day after Easter, from Jacksonville Florida. I see you also came from Florida. I'll be traveling along.....do you think thats OK since its such a long trip? I am a pretty strong & smart gal so not too worried. And tidbits you can fill me in on that may help me with trip and experience besides packing lightly...lol.

Also, you mentioned you had to call for meds...what meds? Did they not send you to hotel with enough and also why did you need money for them? I am hoping the costs cover everything.

Sorry for so many question but one more....did you stay in hospital 2 nights or 1 and did you get a private room.

Thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions. I hope your recovery and weight loss is going well.

    Your neighbor from Florida!

    FinallyMe

By the way "food funeral is the right word to the feeling; in my case I am eating the food that I know latter i wont be able to enjoy, im scared too, because is for my hearth my BMI is no too high, but I had asthma and my father died:( :( for a heart att # 8 and pulmonal problems and my mother are over w plus had blood P  problems the same like my father too, so I am so scared that i will be at that point, the same like everybody here I cheat with diets, I was in WW program for 3 years and lost 30 pound, but I gained it again plus more, I take pills, Self Diet, Many year draging this thing with me. I want to be clear that low BMI and hight BMI the emotional thing is the same. right know my IBM is 33.1 at the beging I was a little concerned about the low it is for, but I read that a person in my condition con do it even with IBM of 30

I wish good luck for everybody here.

I am is schedule for april 12 in Tijuana, MX with Dr Garcia :D

@Thefenixrd .. Thank you for the words of comfort. You will have your surgery the day after me. So, I will probably see you in the hospital!! Dr. Garcia is doing my sleeve also. How cool. :D I pray the surgery will be a successful remedy for your health conditions. You made a good point about the battle with emotional eating. That's one of the reasons I have decided to seek counseling to help me cope with the upcoming changes.

  11. I'm scheduled for April 11 with Dr. Garcia in TJ, Mexico. I'm ready but currently in a 'food funeral' phase. :(

I start the pre-op diet on March 29. I'm worried I won't be able to stick with it. I have cheated before on all my previous diet attempts. I hoping the fear of surgery complications will motivate me to remain deligent and focused. I have wanted this surgery for several years. It's surreal that in less than 20 day, it will be reality!
