  1. Hey NewLife. I was sleeved on 4/20, just a few days before you. I was surprised when I could eat more than I'd expected. Swordfish is very soft and so are cooked squash and mashed potatoes. And you didn't eat all of it. It smooshes together easily so I think you can fit more than if you were eating chicken or a more dense Protein. I had pulled turkey yesterday at a BBQ restaurant and really couldn't eat much. Yet later that night I had refried Beans and felt like I ate a good amount. I think it just depends on WHAT you're eating. You're doing fine.

  2. Whoa! Your weight loss is awesome!! I lost 15 pre-op and another 15 so far post-op. Im steadily losing about a pound per day. Surgery was great, too... no complications. I am having heartburn after everything I eat but that's my only complaint. I think I need to try out a new acid reducer.

Congrats - you're doing so great.

  3. Thanks, everyone.

D1N - I haven't done anything spectacular. The first 10 days after surgery was full liquids only. It was tough because I was hungry. One day I got desperate and licked the cream out of some Oreos! The liquid only really makes you lose weight.

Now that I'm on "mushies" I eat lots of tuna salad and chicken salad, eggs, cheese, etc... I can only eat 3 or so tbsp at a time.

I don't work out yet. I should but I just haven't yet, other than 3 or 4 walks with the dog per day - but it's a slow pace and I never break a sweat.

The weight will come off. Just do what the doctor/nutritionist say and you'll be fine.

Please stay in touch. We're close in our journey. Congratulations on your surgery. I still can't believe I actually went through with this!! :-) But glad i did.

  4. Happy Friday, everyone!

I had surgery on 4/20/12. I was 260 when I started my pre-op diet and 10 days later on day of surgery I weighed 246. Now I'm 2 weeks out and have lost another 16 pounds. Current weight is 230.5. The picture was about 5 pounds ago but I thought I'd post to show the difference that just 25 pounds has made. I was wearing a 20 pants and am now fitting comfortably into my 18's. I've still got a long way to go but the small changes already feel so great!

  5. @Alovio- You're kicking @$$ with the Protein. I'm having a hard time getting even 20 grams in. For some reason I hate the shakes now and can only drink about 1/4 cup at a time. I bought some Isopure today (icy orange) and HATE it. Ingot 2 other flavors I haven't tried yet. Hopefully at least one is better. I also got some whey "shots" so hoping I can stomach one of those. Please full me in if you have any secret weapons. I think i start mushies next week so hoping I can do Beans, tuna, etc.

Excited to be sharing this journey with you. :-)

  6. I'm scared, excited, nervous... ready! I've had my life "on hold" for several weeks while waiting. I'm ready to move on and start with this new me! I missed out on life by hiding through my 20's. I'm 30 now and ready to "live" my 30's and enjoy my husband and toddler daughter.

I started at 258 before pre-op, now down to 244, 84 more pounds to go!

Any advice of what to take to the hospital?

Anybody else getting sleeved on Friday 4/20?

Ahh! I can't believe this is really happening!!
