  1. Hi! I don't have my surgery date yet, hopefully soon. I'm not worried about the pre or post-op struggles (at least not right now). I know it will be ridiculously hard but I'm ready for the challenge. All I can think about is being put under anasthesia and having a doctor cut into me. I've never had surgery before and I'm sooo scared. I know people go under anasthesia every day but I'm scared of dying. Was anybody else this fearful? Am I being a total baby! I'm 30 yrs old. 5'8", 250 lbs. I have a husband and 23 month old little girl. I can't be dying from WLS. I have too much to live for!

Awesome! I lived in LHP for 4 years but we just bought a house in Coral Springs. Let's stay in touch!

Jennlhp... Does the LHP stand for Lighthouse Point? Are you at Cleveland Clinic? I had surgery on 4/20. Other than nausea while in the hospital, this has honestly been a cakewalk. I also had 90 lbs to lose (now only 30 left to go after 16 weeks). It's saved my life. I was also scared to death and never thought I'd actually go through with the surgery. But I did! ZERO regrets.
  4. Congratulations!! You look fantastic.
  5. I'm definitely with you, Chimera. It's just an emotional roller-coaster that we all go through.
  6. Ive been drinking while eating almost the whole time. I'm about 3 months out. I'm down 53 but probably would be a lot further. I vaguely remember my nutritionist mentioning this but it definitely wasn't stressed. Ugh. But I'm definitely stopping that right this second.
  7. Whoa! That video was awesome. Thanks for posting. I just had a "come to Jesus" moment with the drinking and eating. Thank you!!
  8. You look fantastic. You were really pretty in your pre-op heavier photo too. I love your hair. I just hit my 50 lb milestone and am about 3 months out as well. Feels great. Congratulations!!

    4 Month Picture

Whoa!! You look fantastic. doesn't it feel great to be in those small jeans and cute top? What's your size/weight in this pic? Im only down 50 (50 more to go) but it feels so good to be shopping in any store and not wearing fat old lady clothes. Finally can dress young & cute again. Congrats!
  10. Thank you. Thats a nice compliment @msvickee! For the collages I use an iPhone app called PicFrame. I think android has it too. It's $.99. I use it all the time and love it.
  11. Just thougth I'd post a picture update. I started at 260 lbs and am now down to 209 with a goal weight of 160. I'm halfway there! Surgery was 4/20/12 and has saved my life. I was wearing a size 20-22 and am now comfortably a 16. I can fit into a 14 but they're tight!
  12. Thank you @ISB. Sometimes in the back of my mind I get a doubting feeling that I'm somehow not going to make goal, like my body is just going to be done losing. Im so happy to have lost 50 but sometimes fear that's all I'll lose. I remember feeling that way at 25 and 35 lbs, too. it's such a constant effort to ignore the emotion and go with what the mind knows. Anybody else ever feel that way?
  13. Thank you so much! I'm excited. I was losing about 5-7 lbs a week at first but have slowed to 2'is lbs a week now. And there have been a couple stalls! A couple people asked for advice, what I've been eating. I'm honestly a horrible sleever. I do make a conscious effort to get Protein in but I'm having a terrible time with grabbing handfuls of chips or pretzels. I've had ice cream and candy as well. I've not been horrible but could be better! I just started myfitnesspal - so please find me on there. I need accountability. My username is the same. I'm finding that on the days I get in 64 oz of liquid (usually unsweetened tea) I have almost always lost 1-2 lbs the next morning. The Water helps so much with cleansing & bowel movements... and just makes me feel better. Anyway, thanks again for the compliments. I can't wait to get to goal. It's unreal to be buying clothes at regular stores and seeing an L on the tag instead of XXL. I'm also sleeping better, less knee pain, more energy, no medications, etc. Enjoying the journey (though I'm so ready to get to the destination of 160 lbs!)
  14. Thanks, everyone. @jrabbit81 - I am 5'8".
  15. 56 days ago I weighed 260 lbs... And today I weigh 218! I just thought id give an update because I remember loving them when i was pre-op. I can't believe I have lost 42 lbs in such a short time, and so easily. I wore 20/22 jeans and now am in a 16. I feel great, can eat mostly anything but sweets. Sweets make me vomit! I'm also having trouble with Protein shakes - they all taste disgusting and sometimes cause nausea, sometimes vomiting. I've found some Protein Bars that taste good so I've been supplementing with those. I eat a lot of chicken, shrimp, eggs, cheese, veggie burgers, etc... I've cheated a handful of times and had crackers or Cookies or potatoes... but try to forgive myself and just move on. I'm sure I'd have lost more at this point if I'd been more strict on my diet. I haven't done much exercise (okay none) but am getting to the point that I'm about ready to start. So far this has been easy and painless. I still go out to dinner and cook for my family. I have more energy for life and am looking forward to getting to my goal of 160. I'm 5'8" and was 180 and size 12 all through high school and into my early 20's. I looked great so I'll be very happy at 180. That seems achievable now - only 48 lbs away. This surgery has already changed my life, given me hope for a happy future. I'd given up and almost accepted that I'd be fat for the rest of my life, obese like my parents. Now I'm excited for my daughter (2 yrs old) to have a mother that is healthy and pretty and will be there for all her activities, sports, school functions, etc... And I will NOT be the fat one hiding in the back! Thanks to everyone for all the support & encouragement you've given. I'm so thankful for this surgery and this community. Have a great day, everyone. -Felicity

Have I Messed Up Too Bad?

I caved midway through pre-op and ate my entire kitchen. I started fresh the next day and everything was fine. My doctor never even asked me if I'd followed the pre-op diet! I coulda slacked the whole time and wouldn't have even had to fess up about it. If it was that important, you'd think he would've made sure I'd followed the plan.

    Anesthesia

I don't think I dreamed. I know it took me quite a while to wake to the point of clear consciousness. I dont remember being taken to my room or anything until about 6PM. My surgery started at 11AM. My doctor said I told him 3 times (none of which I remember) that the hospital needs to rethink the paint colors in recovery because the color palette is just creepy). I wouldn't have believed that except that's totally something I would say. You'll do great. I was soo scared but I made it. If I can, you can. I'm the world's biggest wimp but I can honestly say that the whole ordeal really wasn't so bad. The worst part is the anxiety over the unknown.
  19. I'm one month post-op, have lost 35 and have had a relatively uneventful/easy journey since surgery. I was 225 today, down from 260. My size 18's are getting baggy and it feels GOOD. Today I babysatt for two toddlers, in addition to my own two-year-old. I decided we'd decorate Cookies. I made sugar cookies and bought candy toppings, icing, etc... The kids had a blast. I ate one cookie with frosting & sprinkles. I felt guilty afterward but just moved on. After everybody left and my baby was napping, I fell into the trap as I was cleaning up. The M&M'S beckoned me and I ate probably 1/4 cup of them. I suspected this would make me sick (and sabatoge my progress) yet could not restrain myself. 30 minutes later I was vomiting... and the chocolate coming back up was disgusting!! A few hours later I had diarrhea. I was miserable but knew I brought this on myself! When will I learn? I've thrown out all the cookies and candy and never want to have another experience like this again. I just don't understand why I make bad decisions in the "heat of the moment" knowing full well that I'll badly regret them later. Please tell me I'm not the only one who makes these bad choices. And those who have conquered them, how did you do it?

    Approved!

Congrats! I feel like it was just yesterday I was texting my friends & family saying, "I got approved!" Now I'm 1 month post-op, down 35 lbs and the future looks bright. Good luck on your journey and congratulations.

Please Don't Let Me Have A Leak!

Thank you so much for your insight. I woke up today feeling pretty well, a little nausea throughout the day and tired. I spoke to my nutritionist and told her I thought I was over everything & the fever went away. She said it was probably just a bug or dehydration. I ended up feeling horrible again and vomiting some yellow bile early in the evening. I don't have any pain and I feel fine again now. No fever, actually it's 96.9-97.5 all day. I'm gonna call again tomorrow and see if I can go in for a leak test, just to ease my mind. The sudden onset of the symptoms just alarmed me a bit. I NEVER get sick so I don't think I have a "bug." It's definitely sleeve-related. Have a great night, everyone! Thank you, again.
  23. I was sleeved 4/20, just over 3 weeks ago. I woke up today with a headache & lightheadedness and have had nausea all day and evening. I'm very tired, too. My husband just forced me to take my temp and it is 100.6. I NEVER get sick. Like maybe once 20 years ago I got the flu. I never even get colds. Things have been uneventful since coming home from surgery. I've felt great, no pain, never vomited, and have been on soft foods for about 1.5-2 weeks. I eat a lot of chicken, cheese, eggs, can barely stomach Protein shakes, though. Everything I've eaten has gone down fine (except a few sugary things caused nausea, things I shouldn't have had anyway). Somebody please tell me this is nothing. Though I've seen on lots of threads that fever & nausea likely is indicative of a leak. Has anyone had these symptoms & NOT had a leak? Ugh. Please, God. I really don't want to go through this.
