    I Dont Like Food Anymore

Wow. I still enjoy eating and cooking. I don't eat much but thats what i was hoping for and im very happy. Sorry you guys are having issues. Glad i dont want nasty fast food anymore.
  2. I am only 7 weeks out - but I eat really quick - it takes me about 10 min to eat my meals and I can pretty much gulp any drink down - I have had absolutely NO issues and with the hunger hormone gone I have to remind myself to eat. But I still get in the required amount of Protein without shakes - all from food. I know that my sleeve is pretty small as I've seen it on the X-Ray when I had to drink that nasty barium stuff - however I am completely SATISFIED with the amount of food I take in - I was shocked as I thought I'd be starving 24/7 compared to how I ate before....but it's all good. I would be afraid of failure if I only had a little more than 1/2 removed and maintenance would concern me down the road if I had more of a stomach than I currently do.... it's your decision and one not to be taken lightly - do your homework!! Good luck to you.
  3. I hope I uploaded this correctly.....I couldn't notice that much of a difference until I placed these two photos side by side....my oh my.....

    Uhc Average Approval Times?

took me 5 days for approval.
  6. sorry to giggle a bit - but I can't imagine that just because we are sleeved we are more susceptible to 'sour' foods and such - we may notice it sooner than when we had our original stomachs - but i don't think there is any correlation there at all..... sorry you had a hard time with the milk.....

    Breast Cancer

Please be prepared to be absolutely wiped out with radiation- it's rougher than the chemo ever was - at least for me, luckily I only had to go through 2 months of radiation rest was chemo. yes, you're WLS will be put on hold temporarily - but it will get here before you know it. good luck with the treatments and let us know how you are doing!

    Breast Cancer

I am so sorry that you were dealt the C Card - I am a cancer survivor and have had 8 rounds of chemo over the last 10 years or so,.... Do you know what regimen of treatment you'll be on? Also - if you have one in your area - look up Gilda's Club - this group was such a lifesaver for me going through all my treatments as they have lots of fun activities and group sessions that are not pity parties. If you need someone to chat with, I'm always here for you....I truly wish you the best.

    Are Whole Eggs Worth It?

plus, I decided NOT to have the mindset that I'm not going to deprive myself of anything - if I want chips, I'll eat some - which is usually about 6-8 chips total and I'm done. If I want something sweet - I'll eat it - but again it's only a bite or two and then I'm satisfied. Just for me, I can't continue down the DIET road any longer.....so with my new portion sizes and my obsession with getting in all my protein and fluids I never feel like I can't have something.

    Are Whole Eggs Worth It?

It's easy - i get in about 50 grams a day (my goal per my size and weight is 45-50) which if you track your food intake is really easy. I have breakfast here at the office - usually equals about 10-12 gms protein - then i have a yogurt or cheese snack - another 5-10 gms - then lunch which i have meat and veggie (takes me all day to finish it,but i do it) and this is about another 15-20 gms of protein - then dinner is meat/veggie or salad where i can get another 10+ gms of protein - if you add it up it's easily 45+ grams a day. I really only track my protein because I'm not eating enough for carbs to even be a factor and getting in about 800 calories a day my fats are way below normal and so is the carbs....some days i have more carbs if i feel like a potato or something, but all in all it balances out. I even had two bites of bread pudding (my weakness...) today w/lunch.

    Sooo Nervous

if you were not nervous then I'd say you were not ready. This is a huge life-changing decision and therefore it's quite normal to be going through all sorts of emotions prior to surgery. best of luck to you and I'm sure all will be fine! take a deep breath, visualize the New You and get ready for the journey.

    Are Whole Eggs Worth It?

I agree we should all be getting our protein from real food if at all possible. But its your choice in the end. I personally have not had a shake in about 4 weeks and I'm so thankful - as I really can't stand them anymore.
  13. Please phone your surgeon - as mine told me the first warning signs of things going wrong was a rapid heartrate, even with no fever or any other symptoms. Please call, if it's nothing - then at least you were proactive.
  14. although i read everywhere on this site that says NOT to drink 30 min prior to eating and 30 min after...I finally called my surgeon to ask - as he never said that was a must for me - it's hard enough to even remember to eat something every few hours as I am just never hungry - but I still drink a little with my meals to help with the digestion. Surgeon says that's fine, he said mainly they use this rule to assist those people who are always hungry to keep their stomachs full longer. Since I'm not having any hunger issues - it's fine to sip with my meals. I only eat 3-4 oz of meat at my meals - so i know i'm not over eating and I can still finish 3-4 ozs of meat even when I drink - it's not taking up that much of valued real estate in there. just wondered if anyone else out there drinks a bit when they eat?

    I Shopped The Other Side!

that's a great NSV.....I'm looking forward to shopping when I get to the size I want - but until then I'll go to the consignment shop and get clothes as my body transforms.....I need pants now, but will wait till I drop one more size.

    Burping. 2 Days Post Op

it's quite common - I still burp like a frat boy at keg party.....I eat TOO fast. but this is just normal and you'll start to notice all sorts of little sounds your new stomach will be making during this healing time. Sometimes in the beginning (I am only 7 weeks out, so I'm definately no expert) I'd walk or pace around the house after I ate....which made the burping less, but it never totally went away. better to have burps now then something else later....
  17. it's insane - i had already met my deductible and out of pocket max prior to this surgery - so i was under the assumption that all would be covered at 100% - then I see 16K for an assistant and that's only 4K less than the actual surgeon....something here is NOT right. Plus at the hospital in the recovery room I asked the nurse to get me the names of all those who were in the OR with my surgeon so i could send them a thank you card - there was NO assistant surgeon on that list - just the OR nurses, surgeon and anesthesiologist. something doesn't sound quite right to me....but it's ok - I'll fight it all the way.
  18. Part of the reason I had this surgery (other than getting rid of my diabetes) was to never have to DIET again....to be able to lose the weight without counting every little calorie and enjoying myself. Don't get me wrong - I log everything into MFP (mainly for Protein tracking - not calorie counting) and struggle to get in 800+ calories a day...but I do have some carbs and i do have an occasional cookie with milk at night. I get in all my protein from food and most of my Vitamins from leafy greens and other veggies (yes I take a multi Vitamin as well) - I don't eat fruit, yet. t just seems like there are so many people on here who are having a tough time because I think they approach this as another diet...which most of us failed at or we wouldn't be here, right? I still enjoy food and enjoy planning my meals and such - but my life doesn't evolve around food anymore - it's there because i have to feed my body, that's it. so you might as well enjoy it! I am probably the slowest loser here....but I'm losing and that's all that matters. It may take me 6 months to drop 60+ pounds and at 10 pounds a month its OK and healthy - not going to worry about hair loss either. I am making a vow to myself to stop the madness and stop comparing myself to others weight loss - just keep trucking along, doing my weights and elliptical and walking the dog (poor guy is actually gaining weight with all my leftovers) and see where this wonderful new life takes me. I hope you can all join me in enjoying our new lives and look forward to the new 'us'.

    Stop The Madness, Please

I feel so much better - wish i could reach out and give OTR a HUGE HUG....as it's because of him that I have come to land back on my two feet with my optimistic outlook. THANK YOU OTR FOR GIVING ME MY WAKE-UP CALL.....

    Stop The Madness, Please

yes Cats do rule! earlier this week I felt like total crap and was really beating myself up over the weight loss to date and such by comparing myself to all the others here who are doing terrific and losing lots of weight so early on - then OTR came along and TOTALLY OPENED UP MY EYES..... I am so grateful for this site as we all 'get it'. strange how a few days can really make me totally flip channels - but I'm staying on this channel because I think it's the healthy way to go about this journey,.

    Feel Like I'm A Failure

thanks everyone for allowing me to preach off my soap box today - I will HIDE the freaking scale when I get home and not look at it and weigh myself maybe twice a month. I just can't recall the last time I didn't have a handle on things.....it's extremely frustrating. Yes I'm one of those Type A's who is a neat freak and organizational nutcase. Got a new VP to babysit and she's great - but quite needy - and my other VP has gotten additional staff and roles dumped on him...so therefore I have so much more to do and I still dont' feel 100% yet. I feel like I'm letting them down. I hope its just hormones from fat release and this feeling sucks. again - thanks for talking me off the ledge so to speak - you guys are awesome!

    What Do You Fear Most?

Failure. 6 wks out and down 14 pds I feel like i did this drastic surgery for nothing. It sucks. Could care less about hair loss it will grow back.
  24. yea....finally broke the stall - start of week 6 and down 15 pds and 15 inches. so that's 3 pds a week...which is fine with me. seems like when the initial swelling of my new stomach went down and i could hold about 1/2 cup at a time....it finally allowed me to get in 800-900 calories a day...and I guess my body needed that! of course, some day's I don't get in 800 cal a day - but i always get my Protein in and usually get 80-90% of my water/fluid intake. My doctor said to not worry about a specific amount of Fluid, but to notice the color of my urine...more clear = proper fluid hope everyone is having a great day!
  25. Surgery date - Sept. 10 4'11" starting weight 201 surgery weight 191 current weight 179 goal weight is 110 lost 11 inches to date officially the SLOWEST loser here....
