    Submitted To Uhc Today

wow - 3 day turnaround - that's awesome!! I hope mine gets back at least within the 7 day timeframe - the dr was making sure to put in my diabetes, high cholesterol and my bmi was 41.2 when I first weighed in....which is what UHC goes by- the initial weigh in. maybe I'll call the insurance company next Monday to follow-up, that is IF my h-pylori comes back negative....otherwise it's another 6 weeks or so.....ugh.
  2. i was on such a 'high' thinking that today's visit would be IT - that all the boxes are checked off and that it would all be sent to insurance probably tomorrow or Friday - then....the dreaded H-Pylori test (which I did not know about prior) - they took blood sample this morning according to the person I just spoke with at True Results -they'll get the results back tomorrow and IF it's positive they will call me, but if I don't hear from them tomorrow then I should be OK.... this is a FIRST....NOT wanting a phone call from the office..... I also asked if this test was a prerequisite for United Health Care or if it's a surgeon's prerequisite - she said it's the surgeon's - my paperwork will be submitted to insurance today...... YAHOO....however that doesn't rule out that if it's positive i would have to do 14 days antibiotics and the 30 day wait for re-test.....that would so suck....but I guess that it is a nasty bug and you want it to be out of your system prior to surgery..... it's getting closer....initially surgery should be end of August...if my test is negative

    5% of 1%?

Religion has killed more people then any and all diseases known to man. What does that say about god. I am happy to see others like me on this forum. I too want to hurl when people post "its in god's hands now". Jeez

    No Crust Pineapple Cheesecake

or my favorite - watergate salad - pistachio pudding, cool whip, can of crushed pineapple and can of mixed fruit, toss in marshmallows.....yum-o - can't wait to have that whenever I get to mushy stage.....
  5. Tomorrow won't get here fast enough - it's my last of the 'dreaded' 6 month visits - office told me at this appointment we will schedule the surgery and send all the docs off to the insurance company. I have triple checked all the requirements and have met every one (BMI 41, diabetic, high cholesterol+all the necessary testing), so I'm not expecting any surprises as long as the doctors office sends in everything correctly (reading some of these posts have gotten me worried, must be the OCD in me...)- I will be asking them to CC or BCC me on the email that they send to insurance company and request that they also email me once they get a claim # assigned by UHC. That way i can be on top of things. I have been so excited - my boss is excited - my family is excited - some co-workers are excited and some make the rude comments about taking the easy way...I take the high road and say nothing to them. Can't wait to be healthier - and lighter! My shoulders and neck are SO freaking tense, as that's where i carry my stress like most people. I think once I get the surgery date I'm going to take off work the day before surgery and have a mani/pedi and massage.....I deserve it I'll be using 5 days of vacation - then using Short term disability for the recovery period so i can still receive full pay, since I believe FLMA is NO PAY..... I'm so obsessed about this surgery....can ya tell I'm a little excited!!!

Going Bonkers Waiting To Be Scheduled!

wow - did you get a letter of approval from the insurance company or a verbal acceptance? perhaps the doctors are waiting for the approval to be sent to them In Writing? Call and check - if that's what they are waiting on - call the insurance company and ask for a faxed letter or electronic letter (as most everything is done electronically now) to be sent to YOU, then you can forward it to the doctors office. waiting sucks....go in tomorrow for my last of the 6 months visits - then they will send off for insurance and also schedule the surgery tomorrow.... keep us posted!

    Ive Cheated Every Day

At 23 you are an adult and were mature enough to do your research. I just pointed out a pattern of immaturity regarding nutrition and decision making which at 18-20 appears to seriously lacking. Whoever their surgeons are it appears they did not do their due diligence for their patient.

    Ive Cheated Every Day

I have seen multiple posts regarding ppl not doing pre-op diets correctly and eating WAY too soon after surgery and the common denominator is their AGE. These are children getting sleeved without psych appts and proper knowledge of nutrition. There should be age appropriate classes that are mandatory. Their maturity level to deal with this lifetime change just is not there yet. It saddens me knowing the road they will face without the proper tools for success

  11. Hello - on our pre-op blood test workup - is one of the things on there show IF you have a fatty liver?? just curious, as to how the doctors would know that you have a fatty liver, just by your weight??

    Blood Work & Fatty Liver

nevermind my friend Mr Google answered my question: The most important blood tests regarding fatty liver diagnosis are two liver enzymes: SGOT (also called AST), and SGPT (also called ALT). From my most recent blood work (7/2/12) my SGOT is 22 (range is 0-40) so I'm OK there - and the ALT is 29 (range 0-40) again I'm good to go - NO FATTY LIVER ISSUES!! Hoping this will mean I won't have such a strict pre-op diet....I will bring this up on my final visit next Wednesday. feeling relieved....
  14. good luck on your surgery - keep us posted.

    Passport

from the Travel.state.gov website: ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS: For the latest entry requirements, visit the National Institute of Migration’s website, the Secretary of Tourism’s Manual on tourist entry, or contact the Embassy of Mexico at 1911 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20006, telephone (202) 736-1600, or any Mexican consulate in the United States. Since March 1, 2010, all U.S. citizens – including children – have been required to present a valid passport or passport card for travel into Mexico. While documents are not routinely checked along the land border, Mexican authorities at immigration checkpoints approximately 20 to 30 kilometers from the border with the U.S. will often conduct vehicle and document inspections and will require valid travel documents and an entry permit or Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM). All U.S. citizens entering by land and traveling farther than 20 kilometers into Mexico should stop at an immigration checkpoint to obtain an FMM, even if not explicitly directed to do so by Mexican officials. Beyond the 20-30 kilometer border zone, all non-Mexican citizens must have valid immigration documents (FMM, FM2, FM3 or FME) regardless of the original place of entry. Failure to present an FMM when checking in for an international flight departing Mexico can result in delays or missed flights as airlines may insist that a valid FMM be obtained from Mexican immigration authorities (Instituto Nacional de Migración, INM) before issuing a boarding pass. All U.S. citizens entering Mexico by sea, including U.S. citizens engaged in recreational or commercial fishing in Mexican territorial waters, are required to have an FMM. Additionally, boats engaged in commercial activities in Mexican waters, including sports fishing vessels, must be inspected and permitted by the Secretariat of Communications and Transportations (SCT), which publishes Spanish-language information on Mexican boating permit requirements. All U.S. citizens aged 16 or older must present a valid U.S. passport book to return to the United States via an international flight. All U.S. citizens aged 16 or older traveling outside of the United States by air, land or sea (except closed-loop cruises) are required to present a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document such as a passport book or a passport card to return to the United States. Travelers with passports that are found to be washed, mutilated or damaged may be refused entry to Mexico and returned to the United States. We strongly encourage all U.S. citizen travelers to apply for a U.S. passport well in advance of anticipated travel. U.S. citizens can visit the Bureau of Consular Affairs’ website or call 1-877-4USA-PPT (1-877-487-2778) for information on how to apply for their passports. While WHTI compliant documents other than passport books are sufficient for re-entry into the United States by land or sea, they may not be accepted as entry documents by the particular country you plan to visit; please be sure to check with your cruise line and countries of destination for any foreign entry requirements.

Anyone Else With High Tsh Results?

found it on my new labwork - it's 2.670 - so I gues that's ok. but i just noticed that on the blood work from the lab it said i had FASTED, but i HAD NOT - this was done around 4pm.....so it makes my triglcerides OFF THE FREAKING CHART... 473??? omg - my fasting blood work taken in May 2012 showed it at 268 which is WAY high.....but there is no way it shoot up 200+ .....OMG if this delays my insurance approval I'm going to freaking flip out.... already emailed the true results place letting them know that i did not FAST for this bloodwork. They just emailed me back saying that it's not necessary for the blood work for them to be 'fasting' - i said OK - but some results are really HIGH because they were taken after meals and such....god I hope this doesn't screw up the approval process.....hate freaking surprises (well, good surprises are Ok like gifts of money, etc.)

Anyone Else With High Tsh Results?

hummmm well they are not on my blood work report from May - but had to do blood work for this surgery and just called the dr's office and asked them to email the results to me so I could compare with May's results. Maybe my PCP didn't do a FULL workup, as we were mainly checking for diabetes - which came back for A1c at 6.5....hoping to see an improvement. I am not on any meds becuase my PCP knew I was having WLS - will do another blood workup about 3 months after I have the surgery.

Anyone Else With High Tsh Results?

ok - color me a moron - but is this test done as a part of your normal full blood work up? I can't find the initials TSH anywhere on the printout of my lab results.

    Getting Revision

that's why I changed my mind from the band to the sleeve....once I made that decision the apprehension and anxiety I was feeling about the band - just disappeared. Now for surgery and to make my excess weight disappear as well!! congrats to getting your revision surgery! glad your insurance covered it.
  23. I'd be jumping up and down - sending emails - voicemails till someone called me back. Heck, 3 weeks ago when I finally made the desicison not to go with lapband, but the sleeve instead - i called the bariatric coordinator to make them aware, called my insurance company to make them aware and to double check to see if there were diferent qualifications and hoops to jump through, there were none - so I was about to just drive to the bariatric center (True Results) and speak to someone face to face to make sure they have this changed in my files so when they send it all for insurance next week - we'd all be on the same page.....they called 8 days later to inform me they got my messages and have switched surgeons, surgery and hospital so when i come in next week - all will be up to date..... You really DO have to stay on top of everything.....it's your surgery, therefore I own it 100% to know what my insurance requires, and to check it off as everything gets completed.
  24. Well, I've been very vocal about having this surgery and my boss, HR and most of my 'work' friends know as well as immediate family. Now that the date is getting closer, one of my 'work' friends (I really hate to actually call her a friend, she is really just a co-worker, as she's done lots of not very nice things to me over the years...but I don't dwell on that negative crap) she is saying things like - I can't believe you'd have surgery JUST to lose weight....so she went to the company gym (we have one here at the office) and spoke with the trainer and such and told him that she'd like to lose weight the CORRECT way, not by having surgery - I was standing right there.....it was like WOW, really - I walked away before my mouth said something I'd regret- pretended to look at the weight machines. On the way back to our desks - my comment to her was - losing weight is a challenge, at my age and being recently diagnosed with diabetes (5 months ago) I know what I NEED to do, and for me this surgery is to save my life to extend my life - not to just lose weight so i can buy cute clothes again, but to each their own, what works for you is for you - my decision to take back control of my life is my decision. If you are not going to support me, then let's just not discuss it. She got pissy and walked off......but came around later like nothing was wrong. I don't really care what anyone says about me having this surgery - I know it's the right thing for ME - the hell with everyone else......it is ALL ABOUT ME at this time in my life. This is my time.......
