  1. I, too, put myself through many "food funerals" before surgery. I very honesty felt like after the surgery I would never be able to eat "normal" food again. I know now, of course, that isn't the case. But at the time I didn't have the same perspective I have now. My pre-op diet was only 10 days. And I did cheat a few times. But the fear of messing up the surgery was enough to keep me on track most of the time. I know now that I have a huge emotional relationship with food. I turned to food when I was happy, sad, bored, watching TV, at work, driving... The list goes on and on. Food was my best friend. Food replaced sex in my marriage. I say all of that to say this. Breaking unhealthy habits is SO hard to do. Don't beat yourself up. Reach out to your surgeons office, to a therapist. Make sure that you're not putting yourself in undue danger by going forward with surgery when you haven't followed the pre-op diet. That's the most important thing here. Then, focus on being kind to yourself. Eating according to your doctor's plan is the nicest thing you can do for yourself.
  2. Butterthebean is not 3 days post OP. Reread the post.
  3. I would think melba and crispy toast, when well chewed, would break down much like a cracker or chip. And those are sliders for many people. So it seems like your doctor thinks it'll be easy for you to chew those foods to the point of harmless mush.

  5. I have break downs in the grocery store all the time! Mostly, it's because we don't have dinner plans and NOTHING sounds good. Sure, i could get some crap frozen thing, or skettios, but then i won't merry my protein goal and I'll just be hungry again shortly after eating. I'm at a point where I can eat whatever I want (in small portions), but I often find myself overwhelmed by the abundance of unhealthy crap at the grocery store...
  6. I'm around 1200-1300. Losing phase. I get 100GM or more of protein per day.
  7. I completely agree! For the first three months I absolutely had to eat every 2 hours. But now that I'm wool into my fourth month, it seems like the ghrelin (sp??) has worked itself out of my system. I still try to eat every 3 hours or so, mostly just so that I can reach my Protein goal. But I don't feel just starving right after I eat anymore. And yes, drinkdrinkdrink. Thirst is often misinterpreted as hunger.

  9. I'm pretty sure that I've seen a thread where a few people gave out their Pinterest names... I tried searching...but I just can't find it. So I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to that purpose. http://pinterest.com/aeveach/food/ This isn't strictly healthy food. I might eventually split this into two boards, one healthy and one not. But for now, that's what I've got.

  11. People forget that as you lose weight you need less calories. So just because you're eating a certain amount of calories right now doesn't mean you'll be eating more down the line. It doesn't work exactly like that... I do agree that 900-1600 is a Peru big range. What happens on the 1600 days that doesn't happen on the 900 days? Don't focus on comparing your numbers. Focus on eating what you're supposed to, in quantities that leave you feeling satisfied and energized.
  12. I don't know if it's waterproof, but I sure do get a lot if sweat on it! Lol. No problems yet...
  13. I love my fitbit. I paid for one year if the premium membership. I won't do that again. And I don't like that I can't see how many calories I burned during my walk. I know that I can go on the dashboard and see how many calories I burned on that little graph, but I think that's in 5 minute interments. Annoying! But...I do love my fitbit. It's very motivational. And I love that I don't have to do anything to get my calories burned onto mfp.
